Has there ever been a situation with your LO where you felt you wanted to get a second opinion on something?

I'll sum this up the best I can. LO1 is 4.5 and has been struggling with constipation for over a year and a half on and off. She did well for a good 9 months in there when I was using some Miralax and a few other things but then that seemed to stop working, or maybe I slacked off. Finally yesterday it was so bad I took her in. Unfortunately her normal doctor was booked up so I agreed to see someone else. This doctor was nice enough but spent 95% of the time researching on her computer while we just sat there in silence, it was quite awkward. Anyway, after being in there over 20 minutes with her the only suggestion she had was to put her on a laxative for the next several weeks even if it turns her poop completely liquid, and to put a diaper on her if needed (she hasn't been in diapers for years). She didn't offer much else besides make sure she drinks 96 oz of water. Which is just insane to me. No other vitamins to try, foods that can help or make it worse, no suggestion for a follow up. Nothing. My LO was in agonizing pain, so maybe that's what is making me feel this way but I felt we paid for a pointless visit.

Now, I'm wondering what I should do, try and get in with her regular doctor? I'm not comfortable giving her a laxative until she has diarrhea. I had no chance to express this with the doctor as she literally cut the appointment suddenly and as she was walking out said to call if I needed anything else.

For this weekend I'm going to change up her diet a bit and see about a probiotic, plus pushing fluids as much as I can.
