@pui: Condoms are supposed to help prevent pregnancy but the only thing that 100% prevents pregnancy is abstinence. If you don't put the condom on early you can have pre ejaculatory sperm, you may have ovulated later than normal, there are many ways to get pregnant.

Take a test to find out for sure...6 days late should give you a clear answer one way or the other! DH and I used condoms when I went off the pill (went off in July, only started to TTC in November) and had no issues in that time. I haven't heard of anyone getting pregnant off condoms when they're used correctly (only if they are the wrong fit, it breaks, etc.) but I guess you can never say never!

@Mrs. Bee: Yea, my husband jokes that I must have put a pin hole in the condom but I swear I didn't. We weren't NTNP (because we were using protection) but I had gone off the pill after we got married and we were talking about kids so we both were ready and very excited to get pregnant.

@sorrycharlie: Haha, well like I said there was "one time" and we know it just takes "one time". But honestly, I believe it was the condoms because I was still spotting that day and there was no way I was ovulating around that time (I had a regular cycle).

It's pretty uncommon to get pregnant with proper condom use, which it sounds like you're good about.

About a year after getting married we switched to using condoms (the pill I was using was too expensive on our new insurance). Last August I was certain I was pregnant even with condom use, because like you I had an EXTREMELY predictable cycle and my period was super late. I did a ton of research and found very few instances of pregnancy with proper condom use - I think they're something like 99% effective. I wasn't pregnant and never had a period that month. There were no reasons for me to miss a period... just a weird month! It never happened before, and hasn't happened since (until I was actually pregnant, that is!).

Never happened to me! And for the last 8 years it's been my parents BC! and my sister's for the last 4 years...

It hasn't happened to me but my best friend got pregnant while she was on BC AND they used a condom.

@adnama: yeah, withdrawal really is not the greatest birth control. I know lots of people who said it was just fine but I used to teach sex ed. It's just not effective with pre ejaculate and human error.

@Mrs. Train: In fact withdrawl is one of the least effective methods.

@anonysquire: Haha! We actually gave my parents all our condoms when we started TTC. We said "here, now you don't have to buy any for awhile". My parents were like "Oh cool. Thanks."

@anonysquire: Ha, we're a very open family. We've always talked about sex in a very normal way, since we were kids. I found a sex toy in my parent's nightstand once, and it barely phased me.
