In line with the bridesmaids dress thread. Have you ever worn a BM dress again after a wedding? I have never. Not even the LBD that "you can always wear again!" lol
I never had any expectation that anyone would wear my BM dress ever again.

I haven't. Any BM dress I've had was very obviously bridesmaid-y and couldn't pass as a cocktail dress.

yep. when target first started doing strapless black dresses my bff picked it for her BM dress. I wore it so much, and got it in another color.
I'm pretty sure she and my SIL never rewore my BM dress, but my other friend did wear hers again several times.

Yes, but only once and I actually wore it before the wedding to a different black tie event. In hindsight it was a risky move, but there was no way college me was buying two full-length black dresses in one month.

I wore my maternity bridesmaid dress to another wedding as a guest.
All three of my bridesmaids have worn their dresses again. It was a fairly simple washed silk cocktail dress. Easy to accessorize for different events.

I re-wore a BM dress that cost over $500 (dying, alterations, shipping) when I was 23 years old and broke. It was silver and I was going to be a princess for Halloween but my friend forgot to bring the wand and tiara so I ended up being a bridesmaid on Halloween.
I wore it all day at work and then out to the bars so at least it got one more use. I am still bitter about that dress...

Yes, i bought the dress at Zara so i was able to wear it a few times after the wedding.
I know one of my bridesmaids wore her dress to a couple of weddings.

all of my BM dresses have gone straight to goodwill. as much as people claim you could wear them again, they were NEVER dresses i would wear again, even the friend who let us choose our own dress in a specific colour. the colour was awful for my skin tone! i chose my BMs dresses knowing full well no one would ever wear them again. i was okay with that!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: i find that no matter how nice a BM dress is, you can still tell it was a BM dress!

Yes. It was a strapless A-line black dress and I wore it to a black tie event and to a law school "prom" lol

I have not. But I've seen photos on Facebook of one of my bridesmaids wearing her dress from my wedding to a couple of other functions and I have to say it makes me very happy! haha

Nope. I have the one from my brother's wedding in my parent's closet 9 years later. My best friend's one made it to the donation bin not too long ago.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: @loki: yup! The black one I keep thinking I could wear it for a wedding as a guest, but I have much more fun cocktail dresses that I'd rather wear.
@sheskrafty: ahahha - I'm sorry, but that made me laugh. Maybe I should pull out an old BM dress for Halloween!
@oliviaoblivia: That is a success they all wore theirs again!

no, but i've worn one of my bridesmaid's dresses before some of them weren't going to be worn (ordered and had to replace some with another dress), since i had already paid for them, i kept one and wore it to dinner one night on my honeymoon. it was a really pretty dress!

I've worn 2 dresses again - a red one and a peach one (that I shortened!). My sister just wore the red one again to a high school dance!
I know that 3 of my 6 bridesmaids have reworn their dresses too (one even wore it in a wedding 2 years later that happened to have the same colors).

Yes, but all my friends and I have had a "choose your own cocktail dress" kind of wedding. I've never had to buy a real bridesmaid dress, thankfully!

Nope - One was baby pink so definitely not. Another one it's a nice taupe/beige color and I technically can, but it's a long dress and I never got around to getting it tailored. Plus it still looks really BM-ish due to the material.

Yes, one was a long black dress that I've worn a couple of times since I was in the wedding. The other was a long gray dress and I would wear it again if I had occasion to.

I haven't, but I know that at least two of my BMs have worn the ones from our wedding again. They were short, strapless, J. Crew chiffon.

I have, although technically it wasn't a bridesmaid dress, it was a Ralph Lauren dress and we all bought them in the same color from Macy's. I wore it as a guest at another wedding!
I really like the bridesmaid's dresses from my wedding and kind of hope I can borrow my sister's to wear at some point!

Yep. I had a tailor take up my bridesmaid dress (bought from a bridal store) and take out some of the boning. I wore it to my company Christmas party.

I have not but I am thrilled to be able to say all my bridesmaids wore theirs again!
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
I have one i was going to wear Friday but i'm pretty sure I won't fit in it now that i'm pregnant. Oh well!
pomelo / 5720 posts
Nope and I should get around to donating them. Thanks for the reminder!
grapefruit / 4703 posts
Nope. They've all been strapless and I haaate strapless dresses. I only wear them under duress.
honeydew / 7504 posts
Yup! And had the dress I wore in my sister's wedding been better altered, I would have worn that one again.
cantaloupe / 6610 posts
Hell no. And I've even had a black one, but when picking out a nice dress, I have so many more that are more attractive. And I'm not the type to wear something just to get some wear out of it. I sent that mutha to goodwill just like all the rest! A BM dress is just never going to be my best wardrobe choice!
coconut / 8430 posts
Never! I have wanted to because it is pretty cute dress but I think you can still tell its a BM dress.
nectarine / 2641 posts
I've never been a bridesmaid, but I'm seen photographic evidence that 3 of my 4 bridesmaids wore their dresses again. And I paid for the 4th one, so I don't care about hers. I also let them pick their dress, though (I wanted it to be the same one, but they got to choose it).
nectarine / 2765 posts
Yup, two of them. Both of them were from weddings where we were able to choose our own dress. One is a black dress from WHBM, the other is a navy dress from J Crew. Love them both...one of them is actually DH's favorite dress on me. The other slew of bm dresses, no way.
pomegranate / 3160 posts
I had my bridesmaids buy any dress they wanted/wear one they had/borrow one as long as it was pinkish/peachish/tanish/creamish. One wore one she already had, one had her mom make it, one wore it to two different things before the wedding, and two went out and bought whatever. It worked great and I didn't feel guilty.
watermelon / 14206 posts
Nope. BUT, I've been a bridesmaid twice, and both weddings had me wear the same color dress. I wish I had saved the first dress, so that I could have worn it to the second wedding!
persimmon / 1316 posts
Never! Even being in weddings were dresses were mismatched and we got to pick our own I still haven't reworn it. I think once you wear it in a wedding it will always be a "BM dress" and feel super strange wearing again.
wonderful pea / 17279 posts
@sheskrafty: that's a funny story...princess back to BM...it's all in the accessories
pineapple / 12053 posts
yep! one fancy strapless navy dress that i wore to other weddings and then a causual dress and skirt that we got to pick on our own.
