I am 39 weeks and went to my PCP today after dealing with congestion, lots of mucus, sore throat, losing my voice, etc. The dr thinks it's a sinus infection and prescribed amoxicillin. I know it's considered a safe drug to take while pregnant but I am still nervous about it. Have you taken amoxicillin while pregnant? Do you recommend contacting the OB first and running it by them? Since it's the weekend I feel bad calling them about something like this since it's not an emergency.

I did and would not again.
Despite never having a reaction while not pregnant I had liver problems and became borderline ICP before my 10 day script was finished. I was unbearably itchy waking at night. Three months pp I still have scars from where I scratched too much.
It's a very rare side effect but it made me so miserable. -
I know amoxicillin is a penicillin and they give another form of penicillin with group b strep. I'd assume it is fine. At 39 weeks I wouldn't worry about it-- you don't want to go through labor sick!

I was prescribed keflex for a simultaneous sinus infection and UTi in the first tri. And I think they gave me amoxicillin in my iv during labor bc my Gbs results did not come back yet.

I took 3 antibiotics during pregnancy for a killer (seriously, it was BAD) sinus infection. The first one was Amoxicillin because doc said it was safest, but it didn't do me any good.
My DD is 14 months and healthy as a horse. I hope you're starting to feel better. I had said sinus infection when I delivered and it was hell. Rest up mama and best of luck!
