Now that I'm getting close just wondering how labor started for you ladies?
Did you think something you did induce it?
What time of day? Where were you?
How long were you in "early labor" for before going to hospital?
Just curious!

I woke up at 2am because I was having contractions! Water didn't break. Labor progressed relatively quickly and I gave birth 12 hours later at 2pm!

We were at lunch around 1pm and my water broke, like a huge gush! I was shocked since it was 2 weeks early, lol.

At 10 pm I started feeling contractions. They got really close together really fast, but they weren't very strong. At 3 am I called my doctor and she told me I could go to the hospital or wait it out at home, and I went. But I wasn't dilating so they sent me home at 4, and by 5 I was back and they admitted me.

I felt my first contraction at 10am (very very mild period cramp feeling) and they came every 20 minutes all day. By 10pm that night they were getting a bit stronger (not painful) every 10minutes. By 1am, they were getting a bit painful (had to breath through them) every 7 or so minutes...Finally at 3am, we left for the hospital.

My water broke at 1am, it was just a trickle though. Then I started having contractions. They were pretty mild at first but by the time we left for the hospital 3 hours later they were pretty intense. I never timed them but when we got to the hospital and I was all hooked up the nurses were pretty surprised with how close and often they were, especially since this was my first baby.

I had irregular contractions 3 days before I went into labor. By day 3 I had regular contractions and went to the hospital at 10 pm only to be discharged at 2 am bc I wasn't dilating enough. By 3am I was in bed and my water broke and by 4 am I was admitted for good.

I went for a mile long walk the day before I was due and then felt contractions that were 7 minutes apart for an hour afterward. Then they were gone for the rest of the afternoon and night. I was comfortable again and I made an extra spicey dinner. I went to bed but by 3 am I lost my plug. Then my water broke at 6 am but I waited an hour or two to go to the hospital even though my contractions were 3 minutes apart. By 9am I was dilated 4, by 10am I was dilated to 9cm's. I had it easy compared to some of the recent birth stories on the WB!

With both babies, I was pretty active, walking a lot, taking stairs instead of the elevator, etc... I think that contributed to having my babies a week early.
With DD, I had been having contractions on and off for about 1.5 weeks. At about noon on a Tuesday, my water broke and the contractions became regular and stronger. I went to the hospital at about 1 pm and had her at 8:32 pm.
With DS, I had been having contractions on and off for about 2 weeks. I started having mild contractions at about 9 am on a Friday, and we got to the hospital at about 2 pm, when the contractions started getting stronger. I had him at 8:59 pm.

I didn't have "normal" labor with either of mine.
My oldest I was only 37weeks 4 days and I was having a terrible time with swelling in my legs, I developed a red rash that wasn't going away. So, we went to the hospital and my BP was 186/123 and they immediately broke my water and 13hrs later I had my first baby.
My second I was 39weeks 1 day and scheduled for induction. I woke up at 2am the morning of with nasty contractions. Went back to bed until 4am and couldn't take it anymore. We headed off to the hospital the morning I was to be induced and I was already in labor. 4hrs later I got an epidural and my water broke on it's own. Two hours after that, 10mins and 6 pushes, I delivered my youngest at almost 9lbs.
I am hoping that maybe this next and final time I'll get to experience my body doing it all on it's own.

Interesting to hear that so many of your water did break prior to contractions. I was starting to think it was a movie myth that the water breaks prior to labor!
@Honeybee:
I hope that is the case for me too! I take 2 looong flight of stairs every day at the train station to and from work. Then at work it's 2 flights of stairs constantly all day to my desk.
@Crisark:
I hope you get the birth you hope for! Third time's the charm right!

bumping this up so more recent mommas might chime in! I feel like it'll start overnight for sure but have no evidence to support this

Well here is my birth story- http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/quickest-birth-story-ever
What is funny is I read an article that night that the number 1 way to induce labor is acupressure! I got on YouTube and made DH watch acupressure induction videos! He did acupressure for about an hour and we went to bed. An hour later my water broke! I was exactly 40 weeks.

My water broke at 5am when I was 39w2d. Contractions started, but they were very irregular and not that painful. They ramped up a few hours later! 9 hours after my water broke, LO was born

I woke up at 7a on Tuesday with not awful contractions that were regular but pretty far apart (like 12-15 min). By 11p I was still at home but they were 5-1-2 and really starting to hurt so we went in. They stalled out at the hospital, so we opted to go home. Before I even made it to the car they were coming fast and furious but I'd convinced myself it wasn't real labor yet, so we went home.
I labored at home for another 2 hours, in so much pain I couldn't breathe or get in top of them (he was posterior). I finally decided that if it wasn't real labor than something was wrong (at this point they were like 2 min apart, where they stayed the rest of labor). I went back to the hospital and they checked again and said I had progressed to a 5 since I left (from a very loose 2-3) and they'd admit me.
They broke my water at 9cm.

I had a membrane sweep at 39 weeks which started irregular contractions that lasted about 36 hours. They felt different than the BH contractions and the period type cramps, they started in my lower back. Then regular contractions started while I was sleeping!
