How and when did you find out the sex of your baby? At birth? Anatomy scan around 20 weeks? Earlier prenatal testing? Elective scan at some point?
We were team green with our first and it was great finding it after she was born! I've heard now that lots of people do testing at 12 weeks and can find out the sex really early that way. Curious when and how others found out or will find out!

They told us at 12 weeks at the Nuchal that they could see boy parts (and so could we) but we didn't trust it so we did an elective at 17 weeks to confirm.

We did the maternal blood test. So I think we found out around 11weeks? We kept it a secret until after our anatomy scan at 19w. It was right before Christmas so I did a "sex reveal" for my family.

We were TG the first time so found out at birth and absolutely loved it. Though when she came out , Dh said "it's a girl!!!" While the nurse said "it's a boy!!". There was a bit of confusion hahaha
This time I could be persuaded to find out at our 20 week scan, but Dh wants to wait (funny because he wanted to initially find out last time). We had a great first experience so we will be TG again!

@MsHangry: Donthey recommend that test for everyone now? I heard someone saying that but didn't get to ask a lot about it. Also- I can't believe you were able to keep that secret so long- I'd be dying to tell!

@Foodnerd81: I love the idea of being team green, but DH was adamant that we would find out....
So the plan was to wait for the anatomy scan, but ended up have a few extra u/s to follow up with a SCH. So we found out at 16 weeks.

@Charm54: we are still debating for this one too- I loved being TG with our first, never wavered, but for some reason now I just feel like I need to know! But I don't want to regret finding out too...

Found out around 10 weeks from prenatal screening. But we did it because of previous loss, not to find out the sex.

E-CVS at 13 weeks. Finding out she had normal chromosomes was the main goal, but knowing she was a she was a perk!

@Foodnerd81: I know, that's what I'm feeling! A part of me wants to find out this time ... But since another part of me still wants the surprise I'm okay waiting - I would hate to find out and then regret it, whereas I know I won't regret it if we go TG again.

@Foodnerd81: my practice only recommends the test for >35y maternal age. I am younger than that and made lots of calls to my insurance company to ensure it would still be covered.

Elective scans for LO 1 & 2. I had an non invasive blood test for LO 3.

@MsHangry: gotcha. My midwife practice is pretty low intervention / no unnecessary tests so they will prob be the same. I'm 34 so sneaking in under the "AMA" label.

Around 34 weeks. We were team green but I had GD and many ultrasounds, so we just opted to find out in case someone slipped. The tech told us- it was awesome. I'm glad we did it that way- I was so drugged up and stressed from the induction (43 hours) I was just happy to have her out. The end of the birth is a blur. I'm glad I found out when my mind was clear.

We opted out of the NT scan, so the OB let us come back at 15w5d for a scan and we found out the gender.

They couldn't pinpoint the heartbeat at 14 weeks with a Doppler so we got an ultrasound. After they got the heartbeat reading they looked to see if they could tell the sex. They could! They were 99% sure he was a boy and he was.

Anatomy scan, for last baby and will be the same for this one.
I'm in my 20s and early blood testing wasn't even brought up although we did the NT scan with the accompanying blood work.

We have an inkling that one of our twins will be a boy at our 12 week ultrasound.
When we go to our ultrasound at 18 or 22 weeks, I'm hoping they can put the sex/genders in an envelope so I can get a cake made.
As you can tell, I love the idea of cutting into a piece of cake.

@Foodnerd81: Most insurance companies won't cover genetic screening unless you're AMA or otherwise high risk. They wouldn't for us even with our history, because I'm not officially high risk.

@Torchwood: the girl I overheard talking was saying her practice is recommending the panorama test (I think) to everyone and the practice was actually covering it if insurance didn't, or something crazy. But it seems like that's not generally the case. I don't know her exact age (it's a mom at a class we take) but she doesn't look 35 or older to me.

We were TG for DD1, so obviously we found out the instant she slid out. For this one, I was on the fence about being TG because of my miscarriages, so the ultrasound tech wrote it down and put it in an envelope. When DH and I decided we'd find out, we simply opened the envelope and slid the paper out together. We're not telling anyone what it said though....and our families think we're TG still.

At birth both times. However everyone was convinced I found out about DS and was just pretending. In reality I just assume I am having boys so I am confident that I have a 50% chance of being right. My first is a girl so clearly my intuition is skewed lol.

Panorama at 14 weeks.
Beware, they charged my insurance something like $5000+ for a simple blood draw. Ridiculous!

At birth both times. With DD1, DH had to be prompted to look and see what she was as he was so overwhelmed with emotion! For DD2, I was absolutely positive she was a girl so when DH said "it's a girl!", it was kind of like, duh, I already knew that

@Foodnerd81: @Torchwood: I think it really depends on your insurance and your OB office. I was able to get the Panorama test (I'm 29 and low risk) and I didn't pay a single thing for it--my OB said that Panorama really wants the test to be widely and readily available so even if I was billed by my insurance, Panorama wouldn't demand more than a $25 payment (which I didn't even have to do). So I think it's always worth asking if you're interested!

We found out via the panorama test around 13-14 weeks? If we ever have another, I would like to be team green, seems like it would be so much fun and suspenseful.....haha.
It was completely covered under my insurance and I was 29 when she was born. I also know someone who is 20 and pregnant, and the panorama was covered under her as well.
