We have been TTC#2 without any luck. I just got my thyroid checked and my TSH was just over 5. My doctor prescribed 50mcg of levothyroxine daily with the goal of getting my TSH lower than 2.5 (although everything I've read online says closer to 1 ideal when TTC). If you have been in a similar situation, how long did it take for your TSH levels to go down? Did you get pregnant easily once your TSH was at a healthy level?

Mine goes down within 2-4 weeks when I change doses. My TSH was a 6 when I conceived and it climbed as high as 12 while I was pregnant. Not ideal but there were no issues.

Mine wasn't that high - 3.3 but my RE wanted it to be below 2.5 for getting pregnant. He put me on 50mcg levothyroxine and it was almost a point lower when they tested me a month later. I got pregnant that cycle. Since then, I've stayed on the medication and had absolutely no problems conceiving my second baby without help (twins actually) this time around. While pregnant I have my thyroid checked regularly and it has always stayed around 1. I've never needed to up my dosage, since I think my hypothroidism is pretty mild.

The levels adjust after 4-6 weeks. If you're not there after 1 month, you'll likely be there by 2 months. You really don't need to be as low as 1.

I had blood checked at 6w after first going on levothyroxine, & while improved, TSH wasn't as low as my Dr wanted, so we increased, then checked again at 6 more wks, upon which they upped my dose once more. I did get pregnant at the time I 1st got TSH levels tested, but m/c'd at 6wks, then got pg again 3mos later. Good luck!
