I dont remember unfortunately, but .44 sounds REALLY low...like in the realm of hyper. I just know that I was tested monthly for my levels and never got a call unless my synthroid needed to be adjusted.

@marionberry: yes my endo doesn't want above 2.5-3, but ideally 1.0 which does make sense. Your levothyroxine dose might be too high? I was put on 75 µg and luckily that was the magic number and it never needed adjusted....some people also do better with a combination hormone of T3 and T4 instead of strictly T4. A call to the doctor never hurts so glad to see that you already have that in motion! Good luck!

@marionberry: Actually .44 is fine for pregnancy. The endocrinologist association suggests .5-2.5 normally but during pregnancy the limits change because pregnancy naturally has an effect on your TSH. The following is copied directly from the reference range from my last TSH results (I am currently pregnant)

First trimester 0.26-2.66
Second trimester 0.55-2.73
Third trimester 0.43-2.91

As for me, my levels have bounced around - as low as .41 and as high as 1.91- all within range for the trimester that I am in. Hope that helps.

My first TSH was 5 and a week later was 7.2 but after the meds kicked in I think they remained stable at around 2. They had to switch up the dosage a few times but it never caused a problem and by a week pp I didn't need meds anymore.

@marionberry: I was just going to ask if you RE called back yet...I'm glad to see that they did! Will your levels be checked monthly throughout your pregnancy?

I just came came from my endo and she said wants me to call her the second I get a BFP, even if it is the weekend and before the OB/GYN! At which point they would start taking a monthly thyroid panel and my medication may need to be adjusted.

My TSH came back at 5.05 which my doc said he wouldn't normally treat but because I was newly prego he also out me on levothyroxin/synthroid. I haven't gotten the results of my latest test back yet, but I'm assuming I'm somewhere around 2.5, because he hasn't called me with a new Rx.

I hate having to remember to take that silly little pill first thing each AM!

@marionberry: YES! This is my daily annoyance!!! Some mornings I wake up really early (I'm talkin 4am) take my pill and go back to sleep to I can chow chow down as soon as I'm getting up for work!

Hello there! I realize this post is a bit old, but I just had some questions if any of you are still around

Did any of you encounter spotting the week before your period? Did that ever stop when you got put on meds? If you were able to get pregnant, did the bleeding still occur that cycle or did nothing happen?

I don't remember my exact levels but e dry test through pregnancy and my one after my levels have gone up. I've had to get a new dose of meds every month. going for bloodworm again today. I've bee. Dealing with hypothyroid for almost 10 years and have never had it change so frequently.

@spaniellove: That's what my ND originally thought, but my Progesterone levels have come back fine each time I've had them tested. I wouldn't say it's major spotting though, it's just really strange brown/black discharge - ick.

@marionberry: I've done all sorts of searches and asked all sorts of doctors, and while it seems like a lot of women suffer from the same thing, there really aren't many answers out there. Most doctors have just told me some spotting is normal and brushed it off, but my current doctor said it could be related to my thyroid. This is my first month on thyroid meds so I was hoping it would go away, but it's back again!

@marionberry: I think you're right. I get tested in a couple weeks so by then I should know if my current dosage is getting my levels right.

@parkerhaus: the last time I had it tested was after O by a few days, since my O day is usually a little later than most. I'm beginning to figure this out! Hopefully when I get it tested at the end of the month my numbers look good.
