With our parents' baby boomer generation, it's the norm to see 5/6 kid family homes from their era. My parents and ILs all have at least 4-6 siblings and so do many of their friends.
However, it's just my brother and I and DH is an only child. Most of friends only have 1 sibling, if at all, and the most I've seen is 3 kids total.
How many brothers/sisters do you have? Why do you think it affected our parents' generation and how will it affect the number of kids you have?

Both my parents have five siblings, while I only have one. My husbands parents only have one or two siblings though, and he also only has one.
I think we're inclined to do what we grew up with, i.e. have two children. But I do think it will be strange that my children will only have four or so first-cousins... I have 25! But my husband only have four, so I guess that will seem normal to him...

I am 1 of 4 children. DH has an older sister (that he's really not that close to). My dad is 1 of 9 kids, my mom is 1 of 5. MIL is 1 of 6 kids, FIL is 1 of 2.
When we have family events, there's always a lot of people and because our parents had many siblings, we naturally had many cousins.
My family is considered big compared to many people I knew growing up who usually just had 1 other sibling. I just think it will definitely be smaller and lonelier when it comes to family gatherings for the next generation.

Both my parents came from a family of 3+ kids. DH's parents too. I have one sibling and DH has three sibling.

I have 2 brothers and DH has 3 sisters. That's why I want to have a family of at least 3! My mom is 1 of 10, my dad is 1 of 5 and DHs mom is 1 of 8 so I just love big families

I have 2 siblings, and my hubby has 1.
I'd love to have 3 kids... but due to stupid financial reasons we'll probably be having 2. I love being a SAHM and if we have any more I'd have to go back to work, which defeats the point of having more kids so I can spend time with them.

I am the oldest of 7..... We are a blended family and the distance between the me and the youngest is 14 years.
It is a complex situation lol.
I want 3 but I tell my So that I want 4. I gotta keep him on his toes! lol. You never know maybe after number 3 I will still want another.

We are 4 girls. 2 from a previous marriage and 2 from the second relationship. My mother took care of the 2 older ones though so we weren't raised as half sisters but as real sisters.

i am smack in the middle of 5 (2 older sisters, 2 younger brothers) - my husband is number 3 of 13! (7 Girls, 6 Boys)
I think 5 would be our absolute max, god willing.

I am one of three which was pretty average for the families that we knew growing up. My husband is one of 11.
As for our parents, my dad is 1 of 13, my mom mom is 1 of 4, my FIL is one of 8 and my MIL is one of 3.

I am one of 6 siblings and we had such a blast growing up together. Some days I don't know how my parents did it... Sounds crazy, but I would love to have at least five! Hubby is on board too, although he only had two brothers.

DH has.... ummmmmm... 1 that he's close with (SIL from MIL) and then 4 half (FIL) and a handful of step siblings from (FIL)
We're looking at 3-4 kiddos... I told DH that I don't want a clan like some of our friends who have 5+... one of which is preggers with their SEVENTH right now! lol

I have 1 sister and DH is an only child.
We want 3 kids. I would love to have at least 2 girls because of the bond my sister and I now have.

I have three brothers and a sister. I share my mom with two of my brothers and my dad with my other brother and my sister. I'm the oldest. Does that make any sense?
DH has a brother. He grew up living with his brother and two cousins. His mom is divorced and so is his aunt so they joined their families to raise their kids with two incomes.
Since we have siblings we know we want more than one kid. Right now we are thinking four. But that number is flexible.

I have one older bro, hubs has one younger sis. So our ideal would be to have a boy and then a girl. We have decided if the first two are a boy and a girl (which ever order) we'll be done. If the first two are the same sex we will check our finances and if possible we would have a third. We're done after three no matter what.
