We rarely do. In fact, we have bought a handful of stuff. They are all hand me downs or Christmas/Birthday gifts.

Rarely. We've bought Xander (17 months) all of three toys: birthday present, Christmas present, and random other gift. All his other toys are gifts or hand-me-downs.
Clothes on the other hand, I buy all the time!

Every couple months. Most recently, I went a little crazy at Ikea and bought him an easel, chalk, a baby doll, play food, play pots and pans, a road rug, and some toy cars.

@rahlyrah: I know! So cheap. I am telling my sister to get it with the roll of paper and then the art supplies.

I buy books often, and I work with a toy company so I buy them relatively often all educational and no-batteries though!

Rarely. We got her two new toys a couple of weeks ago, but almost everything else is a hand-me-down. I do love the look on her face when she gets a new toy though.

A lot. I tend to buy a lot of stuff of resale FB site. As for new, a new toy per month. Sometimes more.

@Smurfette: we are getting B an easel as well. I'm looking at the M&D easel. My guess is we will get it for him when Lil sis arrives.

for the first year I did pretty often. I was on mat leave and his birthday is close to Xmas so we didn't have a ton of stuff yet. Since he turned one and we had xmas and I went back to work, I have bought very little, if anything. I was just thinking today he needs something new as even the toy rotations are getting old

I must be in the minority. We buy him toys basically every time we leave the house. It's insane. Usually something small, like a ball or a car or something. But yea, frequently.

Hardly ever. She is more interested in non-toy items anyways. We also get a lot of hand me downs.
