Hmm our doctor doesn't have an after hours number....when dd had a fever of 39.9C at 1am
a few months ago, I called our province's nurse line who told me to bring her to the ER. C had an ear infection, was on antibiotics that weren't working, and Tylenol/Advil wasn't bringing it down so that's why the nurse advised that we bring her to the ER rather than wait for our family doctor in the morning.

I would check her in an hour or so and see if the fever is going down after the medicine. Poor little thing! I hope she feels better soon!

Ours always calls within 10-15 minutes but I've only called a couple times. It probably varies. Glad they got back to you! High fevers are concerning but particularly if they don't respond to treatment. Our kids' fevers have always gone down faster with ibuprofen. Check again but if it goes down (sounds like it already has) I think you can wait till morning and see how she's doing. Like a PP mentioned, a cool wet washcloth wiped over baby's face/head always seems to soothe them when their fever gets so high like that.

Usually within 15 but they always say to call back if no one calls within 30. Recently dd spiked a crazy high fever in the motn, 104.2. First thing we did was give ibuprofen, place cool cloth over her forehead then call pediatrician. They said to also put her in a lukewarm/cool bath; not cold but not hot. If that doesn't bring her temp down then call again.
