did you share it?
We knew DS1's name probably around the start of the 3rd trimester? We told close friends and family as we saw them in person if it came up!
I think we are 99% of DS2's name. And we're going to keep it a surprise just to add a lil excitement and fun!

We shared it right away! We weren't concerned about what other people said about it, so it didn't really matter to us if we got comments about it. lol

We only told our immediate families. We told them at the same time it was a secret, but the moms and sisters tripped up a few times and acted so surprised that it was a secret, like we hadn't told them! Next time I think we will keep it a secret
Since we knew the gender, it was nice to have a surprise element still!

No, we didn't share. I had a feeling that some of my family members would have made annoying comments about it, and I didn't want to deal with it. We did share the middle name though since no one could complain about it (it is my mom's name and she passed away a few years before LO was born).

@catlady: @ValentineMommy: yea we didn't hear any peanut gallery comments about DS1's name, so I don't expect to with this one, but wanted an element of surprise!

Yup, then we changed it. This time we'll have to make sure we're really 100% about it before sharing. I'll tell people what were considering if they ask. I don't think that many people really care what other people name their babies (I'm interested but it doesn't really matter to me) so I'm not personally into making it a surprise.

We didn't share E's name because we were TG...plus we went in with like 5 girl name choices and three boy middle name choices. We didn't settle until after he was here.
We don't know the sex of this one yet, but we're pretty set on a boy name and a girl name, but we're not planning on sharing beforehand...just in case we change our minds 
Plus, if it's a girl, we're giving her an extra-special family name, and I think it'll be extra-special to share it once she's here.

We likely won't share the final name choice ahead of time. But we also won't go out of our way to let people know that we've made a final decision and are just choosing not to share it. No one needs to know the name, but I also don't see the point of making a big deal out of keeping it hidden from everyone just to bug them.

We told my side with DD1. My grandfather was dying and it was important to me that he know as much about her as possible before he died. We didn't tell DH's family until the birth.
With DD2 we waited until birth. I liked announcing her along with her name at once.

@Truth Bombs: we're not going out of our way to tell people we've decided on a name. We're just telling them that we'll share when he's born if they ask if we've chosen a name.

We decided around 20 weeks and are 100% confident in the name. I'm definitely not making a big announcement about it ahead of time, but we have been sharing it with people whenever they ask. I totally get wanting to keep it a secret, and probably assumed I would do so, but idk I just felt weird not telling ppl when they started asking, and I'm surprised how many ppl DO ask! I would never!

@mrsjyw: Oh, sorry didn't mean to imply that you were! It just irks me when people make a point of telling everyone they picked a name, just to follow it up by saying it's their little secret.

@Truth Bombs: I didn't think people really cared about baby names much at all anyway. I'm glad we at least have the benefit of not receiving PG comments! I think the fun part for me is seeing if DH can keep it a secret for two months!

Yes, we shared it. People were always asking if we had a name, so I went ahead and told them what it was. Nobody was rude and said they hated it.

We have a name picked out but are telling people who ask that we don't yet. I'm not sure when we will share. I think DH wants to wait until she's born! That's so far away though.

We told once we knew for sure with both kids. It helped make the babies feel more "real" to both us and those close to us. We wouldn't have told if we had been to two names though and we're waiting to see them before deciding - I didn't want anyone to weigh in. Since we were definitive about our choices no one gave their opinion.
I'm honestly not a fan of when people know for sure but don't tell and make it a big secret. It seems very silly to me.

Yep, if they asked. We didn't make a big announcement about it or anything. But if people asked I told them what we were thinking. The whole "we know but we aren't telling" thing always annoyed me so I didn't want to do it myself.

DH wanted to keep the names a secret, and since he went along with me wanting to be TG, I went along with the secret. Plus we were TG and wanted to be able to change our minds after we met the baby and found out the sex. Even after she was born we waited a couple of hours to make sure her name felt right before announcing it.
We will probably do the same this time, only we will find out (and tell people) the sex. Partly so we can change our minds, and partly because it feels like, until the baby is born, it's only me and dh's. Once it's born we have to share with the world. Or something.
I totally agree that it's a little annoying though. So I'm just annoying.

We waited until birth and I'm so glad. Honestly, it was the only name we agreed on and I didn't want negative reactions to turn us off the name because it was all we had. DH's family loved it, we got a few comments from mine. This time we don't have a name picked out yet.

With #1 we did. We knew that was his name, and didn't care what anyone thought. With #2, we were between 2 names and didn't decide until she was born. We didn't tell anyone the name choices because we didn't want anyone to 'away' us one way or the other. People got so upset that we wouldn't share! I was being bribed with gifts and lunch to tell...it was sort of pathetic haha

We told our parents and siblings...but kept it to ourselves for any one else. I didn't want to hear any negative comments, not that it would have changed my mind, but no one really says anything negative after baby is already here! If people asked, I just would say, we aren't quite sure yet. I could tell and can still tell that some people don't care for her name, but that's okay with me because I love it and it fits her to a t!

We shared our name when people asked. We only got nice comments about it. I really liked that people referred to my son by name before he was born. I think it made everyone feel closer to him. I would definitely do the same thing again.

We were 98% sure with DD1 but didn't share except with a few people. We decided to share DD2's because we were very sure right away, had multiple other pregnant relatives and didn't want to risk "losing" it, and also to get DD1 used to it. Turns out everyone else is having boys! And DD doesn't care! But we were so sure, it just felt good to share this time.

We tell people who ask in person. With LO 1, a new woman started on DHs team just 3 weeks before LO was born and they have the same name--I was so glad we'd already told people LOs name, so it wouldn't look like we were copying, haha.
