One year shoot assuming that's the better looking photo. Looking back as an older child or adult, opening the book to a newborn photo feels more emotional.

I did this and I picked newborn. Keep your eye out for groupons/amazon local deals. I got a great deal on Picaboo books. I really couldn't believe how cheap they were!

I am using an image of her birth announcement for the cover... so it's a newborn picture but has her name and birthday on it. Inspired by Pinterest, of course!

I had this idea too. Only I had so many pictures I ended up with one for every 3 months. I just picked a picture from the first month of the book.

For the cover I used a pic from our 1-year photo shoot and immediately when you open the book it's her "just born" photo. I actually did the book over the course of the year b/c I knew if I waited to have all the pics, I'd be so overwhelmed and the book would never get done.

I did newborn on the front cover and a series of shots from him eating his birthday cake on the back cover.

Depending on how many photos you like to take, you may want to think about separating the year into different books.

I started with the one book idea and ended up with ( gulp, I am a crazy one..) four for her first year. I ended up using newborn, three month, six month and 1 year photo for the covers.

Maybe leave the cover until the end regardless and then you can decide when you are all done?
