I'm 8mo postpartum and down to nursing or pumping 4 times a day, maybe only 15 min each time. Cycle is nonexistent, but then again I have PCOS so that's probably to be expected. I imagine it won't return until I wean. Though everyone's body is different, if your cycle didn't return until after nursing, how long did it take?

I nursed for 19 months. My period came back at 21 months postpartum, but wasn't "regular" until around 26/27 months.

@DesertDreams88: My cycle didn't return until we dropped to just a morning and evening session at 14 months.

I weaned at 13.5 months, and once I weaned completely, my period started within 1 week!! I also have PCOS, and my cycles are normal! I actually just conceived in our second month of trying!

I nursed until 19 months as well. My period returned two weeks after she dropped to one nursing session per day. I got pregnant the next cycle so I suppose it was regular right away. (Also I have had one period in the last 4 years!)

Night weaning helped for me. I usually nursed when I woke up so she'd stay asleep for a little longer. Had to cut out any before bed or early morning snacks, maybe nursing once or twice a day but pretty close to being weaned.
I got pregnant when they were about 21 and 27 months and neither time did I ever have a period. I don't have PCOS. -
I completely weaned at 9 months and my cycle returned 2 months after at 11 months.

With DS, I weaned from pumping at 11 months and from nursing at 12 months. My period came back the following month after I quit nursing.

I weaned at 9 months (dried up) and my period came the same month!

PCOS and totally wonky cycles (usually just very rarely get AF)...with DD1, she was weaned in June, got my first period in Oct, and then none until I got preg in late Feb. With DD2, she was weaned at the end of Dec, got my first period in Feb, and then got preg in Mar.

Mine came back after I dropped my pump sessions at work and replaced our weekend daytime nursing sessions with bottles. She was still nursing maybe 3-4x per day but only in the AM/PM. That was at 12 months. Then I had extremely long cycles (like 6-7 weeks) until we dropped to 1 nursing session at around 17 months.

I got it about a month after I dropped to 1 short pumping session (no nursing). It came out of nowhere!
