I've always wanted kids two years apart because I wanted my kids to be good friends, and 3+ years seemed like too big of a gap. I think it would have been easier to have kids 3 years apart though. The older one would be speaking well, potty trained and a lot more independent.
charlie and his sister will be 22 1/2 months apart. i think we'll suffer for the first two years, but hopefully they'll then become best friends and then entertain each other.

My brother and I are only 16 months apart. And my husband's sister and him are only 14 months apart. So we've always thought we wanted our children to be really close in age too. Obviously we won't have full control of it, but my plan is to start TTC for #2 when our first is only six months, so hopefully they will be 15-20 months apart. It'll, of course, depend on how easy it will be to get pregnant the second time around, but that's the goal!
I think the first couple years (while they are in diapers) will be extra difficult. And being pregnant with a toddler will probably be difficult. But I think it'll really benefit them. My brother and I always had each other to play with and hang out with and now we're really close. I want my children to have that!

If we don't have twins, we're figuring on 2 1/2-3 1/2 years apart. Two in diapers at once seems a little overwhelming.

my brother and i are only 14 months apart too and we're super close! but there's no way i could have handled two pregnancies that close together. 
i got pregnant when charlie was about 13 months old.

haha, well, this is my plan now, when we're not even TTC! Once I'm actually pregnant and then actually have my hands full with a baby, I may change my mind!

We hope to have 3 kids. I have always liked the idea of my kids being roughly 2 years apart. I think my husband would prefer more like 3 years in between kids, but because of my age we'll probably try for a 2 year age difference.

My siblings and I are all 2 years apart which I thought was the perfect gap. My husband's sibling is 4 years younger, which seemed like a bit long to me. I'd love to have them 2 years apart (right now we're thinking 2, maybe 3). I subscribe to the same theory as my mom of have them, get the baby/diaper stage over with and then move on (versus getting one old enough to be out of that stage before having the next one). But my aunt was totally different (and had kids 7 years apart).

both my husband and i are 19 months apart from our siblings. however, i want my kids to be at least 24 months apart because i felt like since my sister and i were pretty close in age (and only one grade apart) there was never a clear distinction between older/younger... and we fought so much as kids. also, i just went back to work 2 months ago and it would not be a good idea for me to get pregnant right now. our plan is to TTC starting next june. he can't wait for pregnancy sex again he says LOL (no BC, no fear of getting pregnant, etc etc.).

My brother is 3 years older than I am and we're very close. But since my first born is a girl and will be an older sister to her future sibling, I'm thinking a solid 2-year age gap would be ideal. However, I wouldn't mind a 4-5 year gap...So that my daughter could be in school when I'm home with the baby. P.S. - My daughter is only 2 months old and we're not thinking about #2 right now.

My sisters and I are 6 years apart (31, 25, 19) and I am super close with my 12 years younger sister now that we are older. My husband is 13.5 months older than his sister (I don't know how his mom did it!) and they are not close at all.
I'd like for our future kids to be 2ish years apart so that they can hopefully be buddies while growing up.

My sisters are 9, 11, and 13 years older than me, and I have a sister who is 9 years younger. That didn't work out so well with me, and I really wished I had a sibling closer in age. My husband's sister is 5 years younger, and they didn't have the healthiest relationship growing up. So we have decided that it would be best to have our kids 2-3 years apart. Hopefully they can be friends and have a great relationship.

Our first child turns two this month and then we've just started TTC baby two this month. So hopefully, they will be 2.5-3 years apart. We also hope to have another child in the future around two years from the second one.
My brother and I were three years apart and very close as children, but not as adults. My younger sisters are four years and eleven years younger than I am, and we get along really well. So, I don't think being close in age necessarily means anything about their relationship. My husband is close in age with his brothers but none of them are particularly close. I do hope our children are all friends when they grow up, though!

I am one of 4 and the timing between each of us is about 3 years apart. I really liked this spacing especially as we got older and in high school (older sibling was a senior when the younger was a freshman). As much as I would like to try to do the same, I don't think I have as much time since we got started when I am in my 30s and #1 wil be born when I am 32. I think our plan will be to try for the next one when the older sibling is two or just shy of turning two.

Hmmm, I think 2.5 - 3 years apart is ideal, because the first child is old enough to understand and help a little. But as I'm getting older and it isn't as easy to get pregnant as I thought it would be, it might be more like 2 years...

We're planning on spacing biological ones about two years apart, mostly because I want them to be able to nurse until age two. But for adopted ones, it's just whenever God decides to send them our way. I forsee us ending up with about five, and then adopting another group of 5-6 once our first group is college-age.

My mom has always been a big proponent of bigger age gaps between kids because she says you get to enjoy each baby more. It's also a lot easier when the older child can talk and take care of themselves a bit more than a toddler in diapers. There's just no garentee that your kids will be closer if they are closer in age - I know plenty of people for whom that wasn't the case.

My brothers and I are 12, 10, and 2 years apart. My husband and his brother are 3 years apart. Ideally, we'd like them to be about 2 years apart, a little more or a little less depending on how hard it is to get pregnant. Hopefully that works out for us since we'd like two or three kids, all before I turn 40. However, we're keeping an open mind since we haven't gotten pregnant with #1 yet and I'm almost 35.

I think I'm a fan of a larger gap. 4 years, so that the first child is in kindergarten when #2 comes along. (Full day kinder starts at age 4 here).

I always find this kind of topic fascinating, because there really is no perfect spacing, and having them a certain amount of time apart doesn't gtee that the kids will be best friends, or even speaking to each other when they are adults.
