Wasn't sure where to put this. In the past week or so, I have suddenly started getting requests on Instagram from accounts that purport to be searching for kid models. At least one request per day, but usually I get 2 or 3. Like this morning, I just got a request from "NeedKidsforGapKids." One photo in the account. I mean, I think my kids are gorgeous, obviously, but I wouldn't necessarily think they're model material. It feels like this is just the new version of spamming/phishing/trolling. Has anyone else noticed this?

My first thought is that this sounds like a pedophile trying to take advantage of stage parents to get photos of young kids.

It's so annoying! I deny and block. Then the account changes names. It's definitely not legit. Red flags are not even spelling the companies correctly. Ugh!

@katsupgirl: Hmm, I always deny but hadn't blocked. Good thought, though. Doesn't blocking the account also automatically report it to IG, too?

Creepy! I would definitely block them. My boss is a former child sex crimes prosecutor and he has scared the living daylights out of me with how pedophiles can manipulate seemingly innocent photos.

@psw27: Well, my account is private, so they can't see any photos anyway. But yeah, never hurts to take the extra step.

@littlebug: oh! You are smart. Mine is not private at this point but I don't post very many photos of DS alone for that reason.

Agh, weird, definitely haven't experienced this but it sounds suuuuper shady. It doesn't surprise me that something like this happens but it's weird that you're getting so many requests all at once. Agreed about the blocking (and can you report on Instagram?).

@littlebug: not sure if blocking automatically reports but when it first started I reported the user. It stopped but now it is happening again.

that is super weird! I keep my account private too and limit how much kiddie pictures I post because I've always been quite paranoid about these things
