Hello ladies! I'm on cd3 after having a 90 day cycle. My gynecologist prescribed me 10mg of provera for five days. I started my period four days after my last pill. I was super excited to see blood on cd1, but now on cd3 there's barely anything there. It's the lightest period I've ever had. I thought that since I hadn't seen a period in over 90 days I'd be bleeding a lot. No! Not the case. Have any of you taken provera and this happen? Did you get pregnant or ovulate normally? I'm not sure if I should consider this a period. (It's a little more than spotting, but not a lot)

@ChasingARainbow: I have a few days of a bit more than spotting before I really start after I come off Provera. Provera periods for me are much shorter and intense once I really start though. It supposedly can take up to 10 days after you finish the pills. My Provera Rx is also 10 mg/10 days. When my doctor gave me it, she told me some women don't have a period if you only take it for 5 days so she was going with the 10 day course. So maybe give it a few more days and call your doctor? As for your other question, not pregnant yet and haven't ovulated normally for 6 months (in fact, only ovulated 1 time since April). Hope that helps a bit.

@Hoots: thank you for answering! Today my cycle is still light. My periods have never been heavy, but usually on days 2 or 3 my flow becomes on the normal more medium flow. I guess I'll have to call the doctor. I really hate all this crap my body puts me through.

Like hoots, I wonder if it has to do with the short course.
My first period after provera was hell! But I took it for at least 10 days. It's progesterone that thickens your lining, so if you've been low and only had 5 days of supplements, maybe it's just not as heavy?
That was almost two years ago. I've ovulated normally since then, but am also on metformin for pcos. I did get pregnant, but miscarried. I'm on progesterone again to see if it will help with TTC because my levels were low again

@MaryM: yeah, I'm going to talk to my doctor about this. I seen many women take 10 days of pills, but I didn't question her because what do I know? I'm just the patient, right? Don't get me wrong. I love my obgyn, but I never speak up for myself. I guess I need to now. Thank you. Wishing you a beautiful baby soon!

Maybe your doctor was just trying to spare you the period from hell and all the ones suggesting longer doses are evil!
