Another post reminded me I need to get on top of doing something for Mother's Day for my mom and MIL...and it got me thinking - I know there is a Grandparents' Day in September, but do you recognize grandmothers on Mother's Day as well? Meaning:
Do your kids send a card/picture/flowers/present to their grandmother (your mom) for Mother's Day?
Do you do anything special for your grandmother for Mother's Day?
Curious to know!

This reminds me of a poll I wanted to do but forgot.
In my family we only recognize grandmothers on mother's day! 
We the kids (DH, me and our BILs) always treat my mother and my MIL on mother's day. We give them gifts... our kids give them gifts too (from us).
I totally get shafted! Sometimes it feels like everyone forgets I'm a mom too.
DH is the only one that does something for me. I guess it's fair... kids honor their moms and my kids are not old enough to honor me yet.
Same thing happens to DH when father's day rolls around.

Yep!
When I was a kid we always called our grandmother to wish her a happy mother's day. Our LO will be acknowledging his grandma too, and giving her a card and gift.

@Raindrop: If you want I can add a poll - what were you going to ask?
When you treat your mom/MIL, do you act like it's from you, or from your kids? If it's from you, I'd still say you're honoring her as a mom (rather than a grandma)!

Holy crap, no I do not want to add Grandparents Day to the rotation! I really dislike Hallmark holidays! (I don't like Mother's Day, and I am a mom so I feel entitled to this sentiment!)

@PinkElephant: Right that's what I was thinking too... We are honoring them as moms and not grandmothers because we are basically doing the same things for them like we did before we had kids! So I think it's fine! We did add gifts for them from our kids so they get something cute from them to also honor them as grandmothers. So a little of both! Hehe.

It has never even occurred to me to have the kids honor their grandma's on Mother's Day beyond wishing them a Happy Mother's Day!
DH and I honor our mom's, and we usually get them a gift, and all go out to a big brunch together along with the kids... but we don't have them do anything additional, and it hasn't been expected.

I think we'll acknowledge the grandparents on Mother's/Father's Day, but mostly coming from us, not LO, since they're our mothers and fathers.

We do nothing for Grandparents Day.
We do gifts for our moms from all of us (one gift and card from me, DH, and DD). DH gets a gift for me "from the kids." And we send cards to our grandmas but not gifts.

Some years I'm more on the ball than others, and I send a card to my grandmother and my aunts too. This year I'm thinking of sending cards to a couple of my friends who are mothers, in solidarity.

@ElbieKay: Hahaha I'm with you on that. MIL definitely knows when it is though and would be offended if I didn't do something, I think!
@Mrs. High Heels: I generally just sign the kids' names on whatever we do for our moms, but the post on flower delivery somehow got me wondering if maybe I should be sending something to DH's grandma as well (my grandmothers are both deceased).
Interesting responses - keep them all coming, please! Leaning towards kiddie drawings only for OUR grandmas (kids' great grandmas) and signing kids' names on DH's/my gifts to our mothers.

I get a gift for mom & MIL. We send DH's grandma a card. On my first mother's day I sent cards to all my mommy friends that had helped me in pregnancy and through the first few months, thanking them for their support. Now I send cards to all my friends on their first mother's day and to my SIL. I guess I send a lot of cards and like to honor everyone.

I send my mom flowers. DH is responsible for his mom, she has never done nothing remotely motherly for me.

No. Mothers Day is for moms, not grandmothers. I do something for my mom, my kids do something for me. They get something from the kids on Grandparents Day .

I honor my mom but because she's my mom. I think its a bit weirder to honor her as a grandmother.

My family always honored all mothers - mom, grandma, and even godmothers. Same for Father's Day (dad, grandpa, godfathers).
As such, I "helped" LO honor her grandparents on Mother's and Father's Days last year (she was <1 year) along with her godmother and always will. We don't really observe Grandparents' Day.
DH told me he thinks it's weird to honor anyone other than YOUR OWN mother, so my first Mother's Day was pretty upsetting... (it was also the first Mother's Day since my mom passed)
Here's hoping he's learned to be more sensitive for Mother's Day 2.0

It's for ALL THE MOMS!
We don't go big on gifts for Mother's Day (at this stage, birthday gifts and Christmas are enough for everybody!), we do big get-togethers. So on Sunday somebody will host a big brunch that turns into lunch that turns into dinner. And then the Saturday before is for group pedicures, and shopping together, and just generally spending time together.
I love Mother's Day weekend - it's a great time for all the moms to hang out!

We don't do anything huge, but last year LO helped pick flowers for our moms. I made the cheesiest little card that said "tea-riffic granny" with some of her favorite tea and my mom still has it on display in her kitchen!

All the moms! It is kind of funny though, with me having to gift and call/visit MIL/ my mom/ a few great aunts it's not much of a relaxing time for me. Im happy to celebrate them too, though. But my mom is insane and gives me a big gift from her and my dad. MIL just says happy mothers day, which is fine.

Absolutely! My grandma is like a second mother to me so I honor her in the same way I honor my mom. My daughter who is 15 months also gets a present for her grandma (my mom) and great-grandma (my grandma). DH is responsible for anything for his mom. She never does anything motherly for him or my DD so I kind of refuse to put effort into her for mother's day.

I voted wrong- we honor (send a card or gift) both our moms, so LOs' grandmas- because they are our moms and since becoming a mom I realized how hard it is and that deserve it! But I'm still number 1 in our little family on Mother's Day.

I live abroad and Mother's Day is celebrated on a different day here. I usually pick out something for MIL from DH and we go to their place for lunch. DH's family has always reserved the day for MIL - FIL has mentioned a few times that he thinks Mother's Day is reserved for your own mother.
Regardless, I like to celebrate American Mother's Day, which works out wonderfully because we get to do what I want I usually celebrate my mom and my ex's mom by sending them off for brunch together.
