I got a Moby and plan on wearing baby in that, but my husband tried on an Ergo and is in love with it. I don't see him being all that excited about the Moby. Is the Ergo worth the splurge if we already have another baby carrier?

Yes, the Moby was getting more awkward to use the bigger he got. I know it says up to 35 lbs, but as he got bigger he felt less secure. The Moby was perfect for skin to skin early on, but as we hit summer, it got pretty hot to wear too. We still used that or a sling for the majority of his first year. I wish we'd gotten the Ergo much, much sooner.

It totally depends on your baby! Our kids hated being worn (too warm, they were heavy, all involved were miserable) and loved the stroller. So we were gifted one but rarely used it ever... and I just recently sold it to a HBer

I have the ergo and love it!! I also have the boba (similar to the moby) and I found that it was great for when she was newborn. Now that she's older and bigger and has good head control, we have just been using the ergo. It's much easier to put on and seems more comfy for baby too. I take her for a walk in it almost every day!

For traveling, ergo is an essential. I have baby Ktan also but for whenever you will be walking awhile, you will want the ergo. The moby/Ktan is better for newborns, however. I never liked the ergo infant insert.

I love using my Ergo more than I ever expected! I have a Moby and a K'tan also, but I prefer the security and support of the Ergo more. I like the infant insert for more neck support, especially when she was teeny tiny. But the Moby/K'tan is nice for at home and packing in the diaper bag just in case she doesn't want to be in the stroller.
* I got my Ergo on BabySteals for less. And I think they are on NBD sometimes?

I personally like other SSC than the ergo (Beco and Boba), but ultimately, yes, they (SSCs) are worth it.

Hellz yes! It really depends on if your baby likes it. Fortunately, our LO enjoys the Ergo and it's so much easier to navigate than the Moby.

I used the moby a handful of times around the house. but it is so much fabric. ds would get overheated indoors and during winter time! I used the ergo once and love that we're not overheated.
DH loves it... and also, we totally didn't mean to but we bought it with a few other things at bbb, handed a pile of 20% of coupons, when we go home we realized the clerk gave us 20% off the ergo even tho it's one of the excluded brands Always worth a try!

I wish I had gotten the ergo sport...the one we had was super warm for my son, which limited the times I actually wore him.

I have the moby and ergo, and I like the ergo so much more. We use it all the time! But we also don't have a stroller. I guess maybe it depends on where you'll be going with the baby and if you prefer to wear or to use the stroller.

@allison: Good point! We have a Bob stroller which won't be convenient for taking everywhere, and will need something in-between until he fits in an umbrella stroller. DH is REALLY overly excited about wearing the baby in the Ergo... and that alone might make it worth it

We have a boba (similar to ergo) and a mobs and we use both but use the boba way more.

YES. The moby is great when baby is small, but the ergo is amazing for bigger babies and even toddlers. And if your husband will use it, it is definitely worth it.

i think having an ergo or beco gemini is pretty useful. i'm sure you could get around not needing it, but would appreciate it if you had it! bonus points for your dh being excited about it!

We have a Boba and it's totally worth it! We love it. I eventually sold my Moby because I was always using our Boba instead.

I loved the moby until LO was about 5 months - then he was too wiggly.
Looking back I wish we had bought a neutral Beco. The ergo can seem bulky to me but DH loves it.
I now use a woven wrap to wear LO and DH uses the ergo. We basically have our 'own' carriers for LO which is kind of nice I love when DH babywears!

@grizz: There's an Ergo on NBD right now for $56.99. (The color is river rock green--not sure if that matters to you). Use code MOM2013 for extra 10% off!

@grizz: I like the green, too! There's also an organic navy Ergo for $74.99.

I've never used the Moby but I LOVE the Ergo. It's my go-to in a pinch. Yesterday I had to bring M to work with me and had to bring a bunch of stuff into the office, as well. I just strapped her onto me and was able to do everything I wanted with my average sized 10.5 month old along for the ride. She gets annoyed sometimes b/c she wants to see what is going on but then I just switch her to the back carry and she's happy.

I love my Ergo. I've been wearing my LO since she was a newborn. I find it really convenient if we are going to be going in and out of places because I don't have to worry about whether my stroller will fit, leaving the stroller outside, etc.

Ok, I've been convinced! The last green one from NBD is in my cart as we speak

An ergo is definitely worth it. we also have a baby bjorn and sling but the ergo is by fat the best especially for an older baby, i use mine all the time!
