Dd1 didn't last year for her 2nd so I was really hoping we can throw her a 3rd. But with me basically being unemployed for a year it's just not financially responsible to throw one.
I know in the big scheme of things it doesn't matter and she probably won't remember. But I'm still a little bummed.
But I know she will still have a lot of fun in her birthday!

They are turning 1, so yes we're having a big family party. It's gotten a little out of hand, considering they won't care/remember it, but I'm excited!

Not this year! She will be turning 3 so we're not planning to do actual parties until she starts school. Plus my due date for the new LO is a month before so I don't want to put pressure on myself to organise a party with a newborn. We'll do something fun the day of and have cake. (She's had 1st and 2nd birthday parties and they just overwhelmed her)

Yep, it is her first birthday! I know she won't remember but I feel like it is really mostly celebrating that DH and I survived the year and kept our kid alive and didn't kill each other or get divorced

I'm thinking we'll do a family outing (plus cake at home) for DD2 turning one and a small party for DD1 (turning 3).
DD2 doesn't really have any baby friends she plays with regularly at this point; she mostly hangs out with her big sister's friends, so I'd feel a little silly throwing her a "friends" party only to have the exact same people over less than 2 months later for DD1's party. We're seeing one side of the extended family the following weekend for another event, so I'm sure we'll celebrate a little bit there.

Yes, she got a big third birthday party at an indoor play cafe we rented out. We didn't do anything for her second and this was the first year she "got" the birthday thing. Don't feel too bad- you can still make it memorable on the cheap! Honestly, she would have been happy with just her Frozen helium balloons and chocolate cake!

DD2, probably not. We'll just be getting back from Turks and Caicos. We can celebrate there!

Yep! We skipped one for his 2nd bday last year and with baby bro coming a few months before his third, I want to do something to celebrate Ds1's birthday

DS will be 5 and has never had a party. I think we are going to try this year, but it's hard since his birthday falls between Christmas and New Years.
DD will be 2, just a family party.

Yes, but it's always a small party at home. LO has been really into holidays and birthdays this year. He is so excited for his birthday on Saturday!

Yes, but my idea of a party is cupcakes and fun outdoor games at the park. I'll have a newborn at the time, so I want to keep it small.

@regberdaisy: That's a shame that you won't be able to have a party. Does it have to be expensive though? What about a pot luck style party?
DS will be 1 so yes, we'll probably have a small party with close friends and family.

It will be in December, but we will have one. It pains me to spend the money, but we haven't done a kids party yet and I know my son will absolutely have a blast with all his friends.

I think we are but that is purely at DH's request. If it were me I wouldn't have one for her. I think that she will be totally fine without one or with just a cake and singing at home and a traditional birthday zoo trip!

Yes LO is turning 3 and has been looking forward to her birthday party for MONTHS. All of her little friends are older than her, so she has been not so patiently waiting for her turn.

Her party is tomorrow. Last year we did cake at home with family. She's 3 this year and gets it so we are throwing a party that has ballooned out of control, ha. But I'm excited for her, she keeps talking about all the people who are coming, the food, and being a fairy. (It's a Tinkerbell/fairy theme.)
You can still have a party at home! Cake!

For Xander's 2nd, we just had a family-only "party". No theme or anything special - just food and cupcakes!
Logan will definitely have a bigger party this year though since he's turning 1!

We've only done little family parties so far. This year we want to do Disneyland if I'm not too uncomfortable (due less than a month after dd's 3rd bday.) Planning to do her first "real" party on her 4th bday when she has friends to invite from preschool.

@mrsjazz: Happy birthday to your little one! She's still the only HB baby I can remember that shares a birthday with my son. And his birthday party is tomorrow, too! It's his first "kid party," and all his little friends are coming, so he's so excited. I'm pretty excited too!

We'll probably do a low key family party again at my parents house with some local friends invited. It could be at our new house once we sell and get a new house. We'll have a 3 month old too at this point, so some of the party planning will revolve around him too.

We pretty much always have a party. I'm not talking anything expensive or Pinterest-worthy though, just our parents and siblings w/their kids over for food and cake while the kids play together.

This year will be my daughter's first birthday, so I'd like to have a big-ish party inviting all the extended family and everything!
Subsequent years we will probably do a party, but a smaller one with just close family and friends.

@Mamaof2: oh, absolutely! We're inviting my ILs over and also her daycare teacher who is also DH's cousin. I'm doing a Curious George cake and coordinating balloons. I know she's going to love it and be super happy.

Yes, but it's at our home and it's just us, the kids, our parents, our siblings, my niece and DH's grandma - 15 people total.
It dosent cost much - just food really, since I reuse decorations. But it's special - and that's what counts. I will do friend parties once he starts school/will remember them more.

Already had a 1st bday for DD. Can't decide since DS's bday falls on a 3-day holiday weekend. He'll be 3, we'll definitely do something to make his day special, but not sure about a party.

We usually do a big family party for the first birthday and small fun family things for the following years (like going to a new zoo, a baseball game, a day at the beach), until our kids are school age. I don't really remember any of my birthday parties before the age of 6!
