My 15 month old is moving to the next class at daycare, she will be going next month and I am nervous and also happy.
The class she is going to has a lot of activities and things to keep them occupied, but there are no cribs, swings or any "baby" items and they have only one nap there!

I was happy when my LO moved into the young toddler room at 14 months...everyone was walking and she started two weeks later. She also fell into a great nap routine as soon as she changed rooms!

@Mrsbells: LO is moving in September too! They will be using cots, open cups and silverware! We have already started open cups and silverware at home. I'm very excited!
She's already been on one naps forever and they only do one naps in her current room.

LO just switched daycares but he is in the older infant room and he switches to toddler 1 when he's 18 months old.

OMG, LO just took a 3 hour nap. It helps that all the kids in his class are the exact same age and doing the same thing. At his last daycare there were kids crawling, butt scooting, etc. He was the only walker.

Girl, my daughter moved at ONE YEAR! It was traumatizing for me, not so much for her. She had a hard time the first week but then fell in line with the other kids. It's amazing how kids learn what to do by watching other kids their size!!
The best thing is she is now on 1 nap so we have a lot more freedom on the weekends!!

J isn't 'switching rooms' but he's starting daycare today for the first time in a room w/no cots and 1 nap...Eek!!!

Good luck! My daughter has gone from:
Infant A - 12 weeks to 9-10 months
Infant B - Until 15 months
Toddler - 15-24 months old
And now finally onto the 2 year old room! -
I'm going to thread jack just a little... So E just switched rooms today... and I found out about YESTERDAY! And not until I got home in the evening after picking him up and DH told me they told him about it in the morning. I'm kind of peeved that no one said anything earlier so that I could even meet the teachers in the new room... and they just moved him cold turkey... there are so many changes in this room, crib to mat, no highchairs, new teachers, that I really think he's going to struggle and I'm going crazy at work worrying about him.
How much notice did you all get? How does your daycare transition? Gradually, or cold turkey?

@kiddosc: Well officially I got about a months notice. they handed me a letter explaining the date she would move and all the new things in the new room and the price changes. Sorry they didnt do this for you

Our daycare does a two week transition. We've been through it twice now. The second transition was much easier.

@kiddosc: That is CRAZY and I would be really upset. Ours gives a few weeks notice, asks for parents permission, and then does a week of "tranisition" where they spend time in both rooms (more time each day).

@T.H.O.U.: THANK YOU! DH is making me feel like I'm crazy for being so upset. They told him that they would just try him out full time in that room and if he got too upset they would transition slowly.... ummm, what's TOO upset? DH went back up there around lunch to check in on him and drop off a sleep sack and they said E's just been sitting in the corner observing everyone all morning. My mommy heart is breaking.

@kiddosc: I even went crazy on ours in her transition to the toddler room because even though she had spent the entire week "transitioning" there, that Monday morning when she started full time, they had NOTHING set up for her and couldn't answer my questions.

LO is moving to the young toddler room after Labor day! I'm excited but scared, she will be moving to one nap then, no crib. She's been spending lots of time visiting the next room this month so I think she'll do well but my baby is growing up!
