Is your belly button currently pierced? Was it ever pierced or never at all? When did you retire it?
I'm in the "Yes, still is - no LO yet!" category. It was my 18th birthday present to myself. Just haven't had a real reason to retire it yet though! I know I'll have to eventually (hopefully soon?!).

I got it pierced the first week of grad school, when I was 21. It was cool for a couple of years but then I thought it was just stupid. I took it out when I was 29 but really wanted it gone much earlier, I just could never do it on my own!

When I was in 7th grade my friend and I decided to do it ourselves with ice cubes and safety pins. My mom walked in as I finished pushing the pin through my own. She was shell shocked. I left it in for a couple weeks (the safety pin, that is). Not very smart 
Took it out and never did it again.

I had it pierced at 16 and had to take it out because it rejected at 18. I was so sad. I miss it a whole lot. I am currently pregnant though and probably would have taken it out once I found out I was pregnant anyway. IF I can get my body back after giving birth I may consider getting it done again. Maybe.

I got mine pierced when I was 16. I had it in until I was about 13-14 weeks pregnant. It looks so weird now because the skin is all stretched out! I'm hoping it closes after LO arrives; I definitely won't be wearing it after he's here!

I took mine out when I was in university. I think it fell out and I didn't have an extra with me so I just let it close up!

Got it at 21, love it. Did the plastic pregnancy barbell took it out before going to the hospital and put it back in after I got home. I haven't had any problems with it. Had a few concerns when my son started clawing at my stomach. But now he knows it is there and is very gentle.

I got mine when I was 19 and retired it when I started teaching when I was about 25...I didn't want my high school students to see it!

I got mine pierced when I was 15. I had it in for 9 years and took it out last summer (knowing we were going to start TTC...along with the fact that I never really loved it in the first place).

Got it pierced when I was 14. I took it out while pregnant. After I had LO I realized it hadn't closed up and I wasnt sure if I was ready to part with it so I put a tiny tiny barbell in it and its still in.

Still pierced, no LO yet. At this point in life I've had it pierced nearly as long as it wasn't, and I think my tummy looks weird without it. I still just wear the tiny pink barbell that I was pierced with...we'll see how I feel about it once I'm pregnant!

Got it at 19 & still have it in. Needs to go soon since I'm pregnant & my stomach is about to be stretched to hell. Never tried to take it out sooner since I can't get it to unscrew. Gonna have to take some pliers to it. Heh

Got mine done really young, like 13! Lol. Had it til I got pregnant the first time and took it out. The skin there is so stretched out and its gross looking now. 
I tried putting it back in after DS1 but because of the skin it hung really low and looked terrible.

Mine was in until I got pregnant with LO. I took it out when I was 17 weeks pregnant. Maybe I should have taken it out sooner, because instead of growing over the hole just stretched out. Now I have a ginormous sagging hole above my belly button!

I had it pierced when I was 18 and took it out when I was 23 I think, along with all of my other piercings. I don't remember why I took them out though.

I wasn't sure if I'm in the LO or no-LO camp (preggo) but voted no LO yet since I took it out pre-pregnancy. I got it on my 18th birthday and took it out I think a year and a half later. My body rejected it so I have a nasty/weird scar, since it started to grow out. I'd regret it, but I don't show off my belly anyway, not sure why I ever got it!

@.twist.: glad I'm not the only one who had their body reject it. Mine just kept pushing out so I have the WEIRDEST scar.

Got mine pierced on vacation in college. Stopped wearing it really years ago, but would put in a ring for vacations and when I'd be in a swimsuit. The only place I got a stretch mark was in between the two holes. It never closes, so I'll probably still wear a ring in a bikini.

@shopaholic: haha same! I think it's because the skin in the middle is like scar tissue & has less elasticity?
I had mine done at 14 (when the Aerosmith video with Alicia Silverstone came out, lol). I took it out before I found out I was pregnant. I think I could still wear jewelry but haven't tried.
