@winter_wonder: haha, I agree with Lazypanda, with everything we talk about here, there's no TMI! That definitely could be it. Peeing afterwards is supposed to help flush any bacteria that may have started traveling upstream... I read that any sperm that dont make it out of the acidic environment of the vaginal canal into the cervix within 5-10 minutes will die, so that's usually the max I will lay until going to pee. After 2 awful episodes of UTIs (one of which turned into a kidney infection and had me throwing up and sent me to the ER!) I'm super paranoid!

@PurplePumps: Yikes! Those UTIs sound terrible So true confession....I was so tired after sex that I went to sleep.......all night ,without peeing haha....ugh lesson learned I guess!

@ Winter_wonder sorry to hear about your UTI. They are so painful! Glad to hear that the meds kicked in pretty quick so that you have some relief.

I went into the dr today for my progesterone blood draw. I have been good on this every month so nothing special there. One more week to go!!!

I also realized that I forgot to comment on your IUI. So glad to hear that everything went well and hope this TWW won't be so bad for you. Come on BFP's!!!

@Beebee: Thank you!!! I hope we both get our !!! Are you planning on testing on a certain day?

I'm trying to convince myself not to test until the 14th day......but I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to hold out that long!

@ Winter_wonder I told myself that I was not going to test until I know I am late so it should be next Wed. Let's see how well I hold out lol. Yeah in the past I have been awful about constantly testing. I got so tired of seeing all the BFN's. Hopefully this month I will hold out and be pleasantly surprised. How have you been feeling? Hopefully those meds have kicked in 100% .

    @Faithfertility thank you so much!!

@FaithFertility: thank you! It makes me feel better that you got your the month you were on antibiotics! Even though Cephalexin is supposed to safe during pregnancy, I've been worried it's going to affect my chances this month (super rational I know)!!!!

@beebee: Good for you! I know what you mean about seeing all of those it's really hard.

I'm feel much better, thank you! Just trying to keep myself busy so the days go by a bit faster I hope you're doing well too!

I already caved. Took a test last night and of course it was a BFN. I know it is still early, but I shouldn't have done that. I really hate seeing that Hopefully I can hold out again until I am late or I start AF

  13. winter_wonder

@Beebee: I'm not doing too bad. I feel like my emotions go up and down. Sometimes I feel really positive (even if this isn't the month we get a positive). But, then other times I start to get really discouraged. I hate how emotionally exhausting this whole process is!

  14. Beebee

@winter_wonder I completely understand. I get that way myself. All we can do is take things one day at a time. I know that isn't that comforting, but just know that we are all here to support in good times and in bad.

I have a question, I am about to have my 2nd IUI. This one is with 100mg of Clomid, an HCG shot and then the IUI. My question is.... I have a very, and I mean VERY regular 28 day cycle. They are doing the Ultrasound this Sunday, which is day 13 to check and see how many follicles I have. Then pending the outcome of that, I will do my trigger shot at some point, then 36 hours later the IUI. SOOOO... my question is, since I am very regular, meaning I almost ALWAYS ovulate on day 14-15, if we do the shot.... even if it is on Sunday night, they will do the IUI on Tuesday, which will be day 15. If I ovulate on day 14 on my own, won't that be too late? I do NOT want to pay for an IUI that is going to be too late. Any suggestions?

@fotolori1: when did you ovulate for your first IUI? I would suggest talking to your doctor regarding your concerns. When I go for cd13 u/s, they usually see 2 mature follicles, trigger that evening, then IUI on cd15. Without clomid I have anovulatory cycles although I did O naturally on cd23 this past cycle. I also think an HBer had posted a chart of BFP successes by days before & after O. I hope you're able to get some answers.

@fotolori1: Are you suppose to use OPKs around day 10 on to help assist them with pinpointing ovulation? Aside from that, if you go in on day 13 and are ready the trigger, they will trigger but you may also ovulate on your own naturally. The trigger shot just speeds up your ovulation, if you body hasn't already given your body the okay to ovulate.

If you use OPKs, that would give them a heads up if you think you might ovulate before day 13, that is why my office asked me to use OPKs from day 10 until I come into see them. If I get a positive OPK, they will then ask me to come in.

I would call them as ask, though.

For me, I'm on Femera and it's been shortening my cycle. Last cycle I came in on day 9 and was ready to trigger that day. For us, I do back to back IUIs on day 10 and day 11.

I'm currently on day 6 of my cycle and my u/s is scheduled on day 9 (Tuesday). I'll start OPKs tomorrow.

Ok.. so I had my ultrasound this morning. There were 2 "good plump follicles". Did my hsg shot tonight and I will be going for the IUI on Tuesday morning. She said that the Clomid will make my cycle longer so I will be good to have it on Tuesday!

I went in this morning to check on things. I tried to encourage my follicles by telling them they looked beautiful Waiting for a call back on blood work results but the RE is thinking I'll be back on Wednesday. I think they're trying to ensure I'm ready for IUI on Friday instead of Saturday.

@bluestriped bee: woohoo for getting in that IUI before your vacation!

Day 9 ultrasound looked good. I had 4 follicles and can trigger this afternoon! Last month, I had 2 and the month before, I had 1 follicle. I'm actually a bit calm about the thought of quadruplets, triplets or twins. Though, I'm reminding myself to think of 'today' to keep my thoughts in the moment.

I still have that large cyst that has been lingering for the past 2 months. As long as my estrogen is down, I'm still on schedule for the IUI tomorrow and Thursday.

Saw my acupuncturist today and she's hopeful, as well. I'll be seeing her again tomorrow before my IUI. It's looking like a good cycle.

@lazypanda: Thanks! Yeah, I was hoping that it would work out to get one in before my trip.

@fotolori1: @LindsayInNY: Hoping this is the magic month for all of us!

Well, IUI done! The dr said that his count etc was excellent today and that everything is right on track.

They didn't tell me to take OPK's, but I did one yesterday and it was positive, then I started cramping really bad in the early hours of the morning today. When I got there she said it was because of my "nice big follicles" coming out of the ovaries!

They did an estradiol level when they did the 13 day ultrasound and they said that it should be around 300 per follicle, mine was 1500 and I only had 2 big follicles! She said that level tells them if my follicles are viable and active. So I guess mine were very good! I am feeling very hopeful for this month and after today, feeling very optimistic! Oh... and I had a HUGE temp jump this morning.

@LindsayInNY: Let's hope we all have multiples! (Ok, maybe I'm the only one who wants multiples.)

@fotolori1: Woohoo! Oh, thanks for posting! It reminded me that I have to give myself my trigger shot. Oh, I didn't get a phone call from my RE so my E2 must be good. I'm on track, so far.

ETA: Trigger shot done. IUI tomorrow and Thursday! POAS scheduled for Aug 13th!

@fotolori1: How exciting!!! I'll have to ask about my levels tomorrow. How long did you need DH's sample to be there before the IUI? Trying to figure out how long the whole thing will take... Did you have to abstain from BDing beforehand? @bluestriped bee:

  34. fotolori1

    apricot / 386 posts

@lindsayinny: they said the sample couldn't be more than one hour old. The sooner the better. When you get there they will spin/wash the sperm and then do the IUI. I was there for just over an hour start to finish and they had me lay there with my hips up for 15 minutes after.

As for abstaining before, they say that it needs to be at least 3 days, but no more than 5.

@bluestripedbee: Yay!!! That is wonderful! 4 follicles is AWESOME!!!! You aren't the only one who would like to have multiples. I would LOVE to have twins. As long as it was one of each! This is my husbands generation for twins and I did have 2 follicles, so we will see!

I am so excited for all of us!

Today's check up went well. No IUI tomorrow though so I'm back to thinking Friday or Saturday. I had a nurse do my u/s, not a doctor, and she's wasn't overly vocal about what she was seeing. I asked the nurse who took my blood though and she said my follicles didn't seem mature enough yet and that there are a number of them? She thinks the RE monitoring my chart might have me in again tomorrow morning since he'll be the doctor on duty. So we'll see!!

  38. BSB

hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts

@LindsayInNY: My RE takes about 2 hours to process for the IUI. We are suppose to abstain for a few days before the IUI.

    @sweetooth: Thank you!

@fotolori1: Whoah, twins run in your family? That's so cool. I would love to have twins but they don't run in my family. I would love to have one of each, but twins for me would be rare. I'll take two girls or two boys. I know that if I have multiples, I probably wouldn't do fertility treatments again. I would be twins and done.

@LindsayInNY: Glad you checkup went well. Sorry, you aren't quite ready for an IUI. It happens. Hope you are ready for your IUI soon.

  39. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@bluestriped bee: So weird because the RE hasn't mentioned any of this to me yet (abstaining, how long it takes, etc.)! I'm going back on Friday so I think I'm back to a Saturday IUI!

  40. BSB

hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts

@LindsayInNY: Oh, that is weird. You should ask. Get all the details.

As for me... DH is on his way to drop off his sample! I think I've mentioned this on other IF check-in threads, but my DH can sometimes have trouble providing a sample on the day of my IUI. (We've had cancelled cycles because of this. ) Too much pressure for him, so we usually have one or two backup samples that are frozen. We have one frozen but would need, at least, one fresh sample for the back-to-back IUIs for our cycles. So excited that DH was able to provide a sample today! Tomorrow, he will try to drop off another fresh sample, but if not, we can can thaw a sample.

So I kept the information about me having 4 follicles to myself last night. I didn't want to add more pressure to the DH. I'm so happy that I can tell the DH now. He and I both would love twins. I think the thought of anything more might worry him. Anyway, I'm now really hopeful. Maybe that's why we've struggled so long. Maybe 'someone' was preparing us for multiples. Ah, okay. I'm getting too excited. Gotta take it one day at a time. My IUI is today at 4pm! Woohoo!

ETA: I say 'someone' because while I am Catholic and do believe in God, I've come to realize that I can't relay on God to give me a baby. What keeps me strong currently is that quote about Life only giving me what I can handle. Still pissed that it's taken this long, but maybe this is another way to think of my struggle.
