@GreenThumb: ugh..those few extra days are going to feel like torture. Are you going to test at home? That's my big debate in my head these days. Last time I didn't, and honestly it was ok. For some reason this time I feel like I want to. Even though I know the results could be very misleading.

@waiting4you: Well, with two of my three failed FETs, I had chemical pregnancies, so kind of a rollercoaster when I got the early positives at home, but I don't think I can handle waiting for the beta results. I said to DH that I would probably test early next week, but not over the weekend for sure. I don't have any tests, so as long as I can hold out on buying any... It is such a hard decision when the results will ultimately be the same either way, ya know?

@waiting4you: Good luck! How annoying about those biopsy results. Also, just FYI, a biopsy can't tell you that you don't have endometriosis, only that a specific area of tissue that you sample does. It can be soo tiny and just about anywhere inside you, so there's no way to biopsy it all What a weird test.
@GreenThumb: That's obnoxius! I'd be majorly annoyed to say the least.
@AmeliaBedilia: Sorry there's none to freeze. That sucks.
@jaguar: Good luck!

@GreenThumb:@waiting4you: I hear you ladies on the testing early or not question. While I was sitting patiently waiting for my turn to cycle, I was so convinced I would test as soon as possible. More fun that way, was my reasoning.... Well, now I'm pretty convinced I will hold out and wait for the beta. I'm just too nervous! And I kind of don't want to know if I have a chemical. I mean, what's the point of that emotional roller coaster...
I was actually thinking of testing AFTER my blood draw but before the call, that way I won't be crying or giddy with the person pricking my arm.
5dp5dt = symptom spotting like crazy! I have stopped googling every 5 minutes, however. I basically have run out of things to google.
Still need to post my cute embies! Super busy at work so that should keep me occupied until at least ... Friday... then the weekend...

ok, just got the call from the dr. blood work from today looks good and we're still good to go on the trigger tonight.
Question - I'm comparing this cycle to my last..which I'm sure I shouldn't do, but it's just WAY too easy to log in to my pt portal and see all the data. Last cycle my peak E2 (estradiol) level was 2733. This time, today, my peak was 3941. That's A LOT higher. Anyone know anything about this number? Is higher better? Not good? I'm a total numbers person so this caught me off guard a bit.
persimmon / 1132 posts
@waiting4you: From what I understand, high-ish but not near or over 5000 is good. Near and over 5000 is when you risk OHSS.
My RE never said so, but I have read on other websites say that for ever 200, you have one mature folly. Yours sounds pretty good, but expect yours to go higher after your trigger.
I would look at the trend of how fast your E2 has risen. Mine pretty much doubled every 48 hours throughout stimming. Everybody's different but mine was 4700+ when I triggered and obviously it went up quite a bit more. They never tested it to see if it doubled from 4700, but I can tell you it was way above 5000! As you probably remember, I had pretty uncomfortable (but not severe) OHSS symptoms and a freeze-all partially due to my high E2 (and partly due to my high P). Anyways, I didn't end up in the hospital or anything, but I don't think the number gives the same symptoms for everyone when it comes to OHSS. Just as a precaution, I would drink a lot of electrolyte beverages and eat salty foods once you trigger. A protein shake a day would help, too.
Hope that helps and good luck!!!!

@Amorini: Thanks for the info. I just went back and looked and this cycle it went 467, 1279, 2018, 3941. That was day 4, 6, 8 and today which is day 10.
Last cycle, which failed, was 1685 on day 5 and 2733 on day 8. Yes, he only had me come in twice between starting stims and trigger. Everything moved a lot quicker than he wanted/anticipated.
So interesting to me to see the data and the differences!
I've actually been drinking about 1.5L per day of Whole Foods Electrolyte water. I'll be sure to keep up on they salty foods and I've got some protein shake powder. Really appreciate the feedback, and so quickly!
*I work from home and have been working my butt off today to get ahead so I can relax when it comes time for ER and transfer. Usually I'm not this quick to respond or stalk this board! hehe!

@waiting4you: Yea for trigger! I had the opposite problem- estrogen only went up to 1010 on day of trigger. I'd ask your doc about your risk of OHSS, and push the fluids!
Thanks everyone! I appreciate your support. I can totally see God doing the good thing long term that seems bad short term. Maybe he is giving us twins, in which case we don't have the stress of having extras, especially since I don't feel comfortable without giving them a chance.

Lining was 11mm this morning, and I'm feeling really stressed out. It's usually 12-13mm at my check scan, so I'm paranoid.. talk me off the ledge? Had bloods done, so now we wait until this afternoon to hear back from the clinic and see what they think.
pear / 1986 posts
@jaguar: I think you are just fine at 11! As long as you are over 7 or 8, I think it is fine, and you are well above!! Try not to worry!
nectarine / 2192 posts
@jaguar: That sounds great! I have a good feeling for you!
@GreenThumb: @Amorini: It just occurred to me that we could be on a due date board together- that would be awesome! Trying to think positively.

Hmmm. Spoke to my nurse.. she said all is good from scan and bloods, but that transfer will probably be next Thursday - a week away. I think it's because it's a public holiday here on Tuesday and it's throwing all the dates off. I will get confirmation of the transfer day and when to take progesterone from either tonight or tomorrow.

@jaguar: Glad to hear your uterus is behaving! What holiday is next week?

oh boy - i wasn't getting notification of posts! So, I'll attempt to catch up. sorry if i miss anyone..
@waiting4you: yay for triggering! I've also heard that 200 per mature follicle. how many follicles did you get last time? Looks like you will get quite a few this go round.
@jaguar: 11 sounds good! plus, you have time to get a thicker lining between now and thursday, right?
@AmeliaBedilia: @GreenThumb: @Amorini: How are you girls hanging in there during this wait? I wasn't sure if i would test either during the first round, but knew that I would likely get my call at work and wanted to prepare myself. Good luck and as each day passes you are getting closer!

@NorthStar: I will get the call next Friday and I'm off work. I haven't decided but leaning towards waiting on the call, then hopefully driving to DH's work. DH is convinced that staying positive will help, so we're really trying to.
pear / 1986 posts
@NorthStar: Thanks! Doing ok and trying to keep a low profile and stay relaxed for the next week +. Hope all is well with you!
@AmeliaBedilia: Due date boards!!! Yay! So fun to think about! Oh, I have to share one wonderful sign for this cycle... if all goes well and I get a , the due date will be October 4th (at least according to IVF calendars ). Well, that day is a wonderful day for us already because October 4th, 2012 was our LO's embryo transfer date! Out of all 365 days, what are the chances?
@jaguar: I knew it would be ok! So glad to hear it!! Hope this puts your mind at ease a little.
nectarine / 2192 posts
@GreenThumb: that is a good sign. I've had a few things that are a good sign but have very long back stories. If this is it, the due date would be right around out seventh anniversary- sounds lucky to me. My brother is engaged and there's talk of a September wedding. They're debating on local vs. destination. While I love my brother, it's a problem I hope to have because that means we'd have a baby (or babies)!

@AmeliaBedilia: Australia Day Public Holiday!
@NorthStar: That's true. Another week of growing
@GreenThumb: Still feeling anxious.

@bluestriped bee: Thanks for popping in! How are you and your babies? I'm praying for b/g twins like you!

@jaguar: Oh, I'm sure! Every cycle bring a lot of hope and a lot of stress, but at least you are moving in a good direction right now. That's a huge positive to hold onto. Excited for a January transfer for you!!
@bluestriped bee: Thanks!! Always wonderful to hear from the graduates and remember that successes happen! Hope all is well with you!

@bluestriped bee: Thanks and hugs! You were here in the 2ww about this time last year, right?!?!
@jaguar: Yay for the transfer date! Boo that you have a little longer to wait, but it will be here soon!
@AmeliaBedilia: @GreenThumb: (and @Mrs.Pinky -- how are you?!): Love the thought about being on a due date board together. I did look up an EDD based on my ET.
Fortunately, I'm super busy at work with the company president being in town. My days are full of meetings and so when my alarm went off for my "antibiotic" (cough, cough ...Estrace), I completely spaced and almost did Estrace plus Crinone (naturally, I was in the bathroom at this point). I was about to push the plunger on the Crinone applicator when I realized that I wasn't due for another 6 hours!
...I used the "antibiotic" excuse because we're also having fancy dinner tonight and I need an excuse to not have a glass of wine...
@waiting4you: GL on your ER tomorrow! I will be thinking of you!
nectarine / 2192 posts
@waiting4you: Good luck tomorrow!
@jaguar: Yay! I know you've had to wait so long.
DH plays bridge Wednesday nights and gets home after I should do my progesterone injection. He offered to skip it, but that seemed silly. I did last night's with him guiding me, and I just did tonight's all by myself (just with the help of the mirror). I have a work trip a week after my beta, so I'm happy I can do my own injections. I read that three day transfers don't start implanting until 4 days after transfer. Every so often, I think that if this is negative, I don't know if I could go through this again, and worry that if we only got two good embryos, that we could get even fewer next time. Then I remind myself that my doc was "thrilled" with the ones we transferred, and estimated 65% chance at least one would stick. I'm trying so hard to stay positive.

@AmeliaBedilia: try to think of it this way, the dr's learn a TON from a failed cycle.mine changed quite a few things from cycle 1 to cycle 2. Can't give you a 100% sure answer that this cycle is better, but based on the numbers and stats so far, it's better. So while a 2nd cycle sounds scary, it's actually been a TON less stressful this time. Hopefully you won't need this advice, but if you do, know that not all hope is lost!!!

Thank you @Amorini @northstar!
Looking forward to tomorrow being done with and knowing how many eggs we have to work with. Anything more than 9 would be an improvement. And anything more than 5 that are mature/fertilize is great! Actually feeling pretty hopeful going into this cycle post stims. fingers crossed!

@AmeliaBedilia: Good work on the solo shots!
Okay, I rang and found out more info - since Tuesday is the public holiday, they decided to make Thursday the transfer day.. so that they can thaw the day 4 the evening before, and give it a chance to grow out a little bit.

Just got done with ER.... SOOOOOOO excited to report they got 14 eggs!!!!!! Last time it was 9. Things are looking great!! Now fingers crossed a good amount are mature and fertilize. WHAT A HUGE RELIEF.

@waiting4you: that is awesome!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the perspective about second cycles- that's really helpful. Now rest up and I'm praying for a good report tomorrow. I have such a good feeling for you.

@NorthStar: feeling really good actually. Hubby got me my fav bagel and some hash browns and now we're headed home. Looking forward to being lazy the rest of the day. Feel like I'm floating on cloud 9! Hoping for a great report tomorrow re: mature/fertilized

@AmeliaBedilia: We are doing good. We are all recovering from our New Year sicknesses, but almost all 100% soon. Crossing my fingers and toes (and the twins fingers and toes) for you!
@GreenThumb: Thanks! Oh, I'm glad. Sometimes I'm cautious about posting here because I don't know if hearing from graduates is frustrating but at the same time some find it inspirational. I won't post a ton to be respectful but I definitely miss the bond us IVF ladies used to have. I truly do think of everyone and hope you guys hear good news this year.
@Amorini: My transfer last year was 1/28... so this time this year, I would be anxiously waiting for my upcoming transfer. I remember wondering if IVF would work for us so I wasn't excited but just anxious.
It is exciting that so many of you might be on the October DD boards soon. October last year was the twins DD. Plus, I was born in October so October is an awesome month naturally. Crossing my fingers and toes (and the twins fingers and toes) for you all!

@waiting4you: That's so wonderful ... 14! Wow. You must be on cloud nine! It's so wonderful to feel elated anytime in this process. Those moments are too few! Sending positive thoughts and prayers for a great fertilization report!

@bluestriped bee: Oh, wow! I'm sure all of those anxieties of last year are a distant memory. I love the grads coming back so you are definitely welcome here. Hugs!
It's gonna be another great October... I hope so anyway! FX so hard!!!

@waiting4you: Fourteen is such a great number to start with. Good job, lady! Best of luck for an equally great number of mature eggies.
@AmeliaBedilia: You are a rock star. Intramuscular PIO shots all by yourself? You would laugh at the hoops I've jumped through just to make sure I have someone available to give me my PIO shots. I don't even touch or look at the needles! Wishing you all the best with your upcoming beta blood test!
@bluestriped bee: I always feel bad posting here but I don't quite feel like a graduate and I, too, really really miss the IVF bond!
nectarine / 2192 posts
@agold: thanks! To you and @bluestriped bee: I appreciate hearing from grads. After so many failed cycles, it's hard to believe that anything will ever work. Hearing from you ladies helps me feel more hopeful- if it worked for you, it can work for me!
