@SweetiePie: maybe physically we don't have the same husband, but other than that, yes we do! he is the same way! Yet, he says that he does initiate. I'm like, really?! lol oh well!

@NorthStar: @sweetiepie: @agold: You ladies are making me feel so much better about our lack of sex life. I thought it was just us. Phew! Not that I hope it doesn't change for all of us, but lordy, despite the E surge, this is a not a sexy time for the history books.
@NorthStar: As you probably already know, I think Lupron is the devil. I'm glad your last shot is coming up fast!

@Winnie13: It's great they have a class for you. We have to do an elearning online before proceeding. This is all getting so real as I just ordered all my Meds at the pharmacy.

@SweetiePie: That's so funny about the foot-long weiner. So true, though! They aren't going to poke the baby, or even squish the baby through my stomach. We had a great sex life before all of this. But then we needed to stop a few days before my December 4th transfer. And it was like the end all for sex. I think IVF just makes it all the more difficult. I can't imagine that if I had just gotten pregnant following a random night of sex that we'd be having these problems. We are just both so very cautious. And I'm also worried about AFTER I have the baby and how long it will take for us to get back to it.
@Amorini: So glad we could make you feel better!! IVF sucks all around, doesn't it!?

@LoveHope: We did a nurse consult there they went through everything. Where did you order your meds from? I only ask because there are certain places where you can save SO much $$ and wanted to be sure to pass that along.

@NorthStar: Thank you for all of you help and advice regarding the meds on the other board! I will take you up on that offer! I'll post my meds after my apt. on Mon.!
@sweetiepie: @agold: @amorini: Pretty sure the only reason we've been BDing at all in the past 2 years was all due to TTC. It was all business too! Now that we've moved onto IVF, DH is doomed!! Lol!
@lovehope: I'm hoping they teach me all about the injections. If not, YouTube will be my BFF!

Apropos to what I wrote yesterday about being one and done and my feelings about that, I learned that our friends who got married last summer (she's late 20s, he's a little older) are pregnant with twins! By just having sex!! Just like that! They are mutual friends with our other friends who have 2 year-old triplets...naturally...as in, by just having sex!
Clearly my feelings are a bit of a mess. I was sad when our two embies didn't both keep going. DH told me the news and I guess my reaction was not great. I thought I was holding it in, but not so. Trying to force myself to just be grateful for this miracle bun and feeling guilty that the tears are just right there ready to engulf me. Off to therapy, I go.
honeydew / 7463 posts
@Amorini: I'm sorry The news of your vanishing twin is still so so new, it's no surprise you still feel raw. It's ok, allow yourself to grieve however you need to, for as long as you need to.
Being sad for yourself doesn't mean you aren't happy for them! I feel strongly that you can feel both ways.
persimmon / 1132 posts
@SweetiePie: oh, thanks for your kind words. We never officially had a vanishing twin (that was @GreenThumb). We just transferred the only two we had and had one of them keep going. So I never had to experience that kind of loss... though I was really pulling for two and done. For me, I think it's just the grief of a "bad hand" at fertility and never really expecting where and when it's going knock me down. Yes, I think you're right that I can be sad for myself, yet happy and grateful that we have one on the way, AND also happy for them... It's just easier being happy, happy, happy but not always realistic, huh?
honeydew / 7463 posts
@Amorini: gahhh I'm so sorry (and to you, @greenthumb:) for getting it mixed up! I read twin and got confused.
I'll blame it on the wine

So, I'm going to ask the nurse this on Monday, but are there any dietary changes that you made that you think may help? I eat fairly healthy for the most part and I do drink a cup of coffee... I know I need to nix the coffee, but is there anything else?
pear / 1881 posts
@Amorini: I'm so sorry that you are feeling that pain. I agree with @SweetiePie: that you are allowed to be sad for yourself, yet happy for them. That is perfectly allowed and ok! You don't need to feel guilty. I feel like this whole journey tarnishes every feeling we have as we just expect the worst. It is so hard to imagine that there is ever happiness at the end and that we will ever have a part of our life where we are not in the infertility world. But, we WILL get there. I just know it.
@Winnie13: They might not have any good answers for you, but here are some things I would suggest that made a HUGE difference between my first and second IVF rounds. Prior to my second round, I cut out the coffee (only periodically had decaf), tried to go as gluten free as I could (Trader Joe's has great brown rice/quinoa pasta and there are other replacements out there), I took 600mg of CoQ10 for at least 3 months prior to my second IVF round, I tried to limit the sweets and in general, tried to eat as healthy as I could. Going into our frozen transfer, I lost some weight and am continuing to eat as well as I can. I also have been drinking red raspberry leaf tea (that is the only ingredient) and at least 8oz of POM juice each day - both of these to help with the lining. I'll see what else I can think of, but have heard that eating gluten and possibly even mostly dairy free have led to many women having more success. Whether that is the main cause, I don't know, but it certainly doesn't hurt. Both gluten and dairy can cause inflammation and getting that out of your system can help your overall health.
pear / 1881 posts
@Winnie13: The other thing that I would consider looking into is acupunture. I have been doing it for quite awhile and find it to be SO relaxing. However, it is important to find someone that specializes in fertility.
kiwi / 501 posts
@NorthStar: Thank you for all that info!! I'm lactose intolerant and I really shouldn't be eating dairy... but I love ice cream! LOL! I was planning on cutting dairy in June, as I noticed when I did whole30 it really cut down on my bloating and tummy issues. The gluten part is hard (I love bagels), but whatever I have to do to be a mommy, I'll do it! Thanks for the advice! I'm researching all this stuff now!
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@Winnie13: I looked up anti-inflammatory diets before my successful FET. I tried to avoid foods that would cause inflammation and I drank anti-inflammatory juices (but didn't do a full juice cleanse).
kiwi / 501 posts
@agold: I definitely just researched that and I'm starting it on Monday(I have 2 nights to get rid of a gallon of ice cream... Challenge accepted)! That will give me 6 weeks until we start stims (I'll know more Mon.). From the article I read, it takes about 4-6 weeks to notice the benefit of an anti-inflammatory diet. I also read that avacados are great, which makes me super excited because I love them (did someone say guac)!
Thanks for all the info ladies!

I'm sure nothing is "normal" after a d&c, but does this sound like something i should ask my doc about? After the procedure on Mon I was spotting until yesterday.. and it was always just really light pink when wiping. Now it's more bleeding and bright red. It's still not a lot, I can still just use a light liner, but aren't I supposed to be healing and it slowing down? Why is it getting worse now a week later?
kiwi / 501 posts
@PurplePumps: How are you doing today? Have you called the doc yet? Hoping the bleeding stops soon!
AFM, I'm officially locked into the July cycle. I should be getting a call from the pharmacy in the next couple of days so we can get the final price. I'm pretty sure I'm doing the antagonist protocol. No Lupron, I'll take Ganirelix after stims begin. I start BC June 6th (or sooner) with a baby aspirin. I start stims July 1st. I have to go in sometime in June for a trial transfer. It's all getting very real and I definitely have 10000 emotions. Thinking positively though and giving it all to God!
How is everyone else?
honeydew / 7463 posts
@PurplePumps: I think that's probably still within the range of normal. It happened with my first one. But if you'd feel better calling your doc it can't hurt.
If your cramping intensifies and you start passing large clots, that's when it's NOT normal and you should call. That happened with my 2nd one and they had missed some tissue. So I had contractions and was passing very large clots (gross, but size of my palm). Missed tissue can lead to further complications so you would want to get that checked out.
But in my experience, slightly heavier bleeding is normal.
Big hugs. It's all scary and all sucks big time.
pear / 1881 posts
@Winnie13: yay for having dates already!!! So exciting! Our latest round was antagonist and I responded the best under it. What pharmacy are you using? Check back w your pricing as I might be able to help you figure out where some meds are cheaper. I had to split my last order between pharmacies to get the best pricing. So excited for you!!
pomegranate / 3809 posts
@Winnie13: We may be cycle buddies! I'm thinking of trying to do a July cycle which start stims around July 2.
@SweetiePie: I've had zero cramping or pain at all luckily. I just thought it was weird that the discharge would go from pink to more red/period like instead of the other way around. I guess I just have to put up for it... this pad business sucks!! I wish I could just use my cup.
pear / 1881 posts
@PurplePumps: thinking of you and hoping the bleeding resolves quickly. I don't have any experience, so I can't help with guidance
Afm- waiting for my lining check. Hoping all is ok, but super nervous!!
pomegranate / 3809 posts
@NorthStar: How long did you do acupuncture before you cycled or felt it made a diff? I'm debating on that now, and I want to cycle July, but.. I also want to go on vacation the last 2 weeks of June, so if I only go for 2 weeks, is it even worth it? I might do a Aug cycle instead too if my body doesn't cooperate for July.. so that'd be another month.
Hope your lining check goes well today!
kiwi / 689 posts
@Winnie13: That's wonderful. It will be here before you know it. I'll be starting Estrace on June 7th and am feeling so many different emotions as well. I'm excited and scared at the same time. I just signed consent forms and they freaked me out a bit. I am just hoping for the best!
pear / 1881 posts
@PurplePumps: dang Internet are my response!! I've been doing acupuncture since November 2014 and they like to have you go 3 months. But, I wouldn't push it back for that and feel that any acupuncture you do is beneficial, even if it is only a few times!
Lining was good! 6.8mm, so set for transfer week from today!

@NorthStar: That's wonderful!! So exciting!! Thank you for the info on the meds! Once I my pharmacy gets my order (in about an hour), I'm calling to get a tentative price so we know our total costs and I'll let you know!
@LoveHope: That's so exciting! The consent forms were intense for sure! The entire day yesterday was super overwhelming! It was good to take that next step, but it's definitely a step of faith!
@PurplePumps: That's exciting! It would definitely be nice to have a cycle buddy. It's a big decision though all the way around!
Got my calendar and scheduled all my scans and my trial transfer! We are getting closer one step at a time!

@NorthStar: So glad that things are progressing as planned!! Hope you can have a relaxing weekend and rest up for next week! So exciting!!!
@PurplePumps: I'm sorry to hear that you are still experiencing bleeding and I hope it resolves really soon! You don't need any more stress! As far as acupuncture goes, I just started 6 weeks before my last FET and went for a few weeks after. It was really relaxing and definitely worth adding to your regimen if you can.
@Winnie13: @LoveHope: Best wishes on getting started down this crazy road!
It will be worth it!!

@NorthStar: Just a few more days to go!
I got my flights today, so Europe here we come! My only decision now is do I want to start taking BC once my hcg is 0 (or close) so that I can stay suppressed for July cycle. Or do I just want to wait for a period (maybe) and then suppress until Aug cycle. Part of me wants to just get the show on the road and do July. The other part of me wants a little more of a break and some more time with taking the supplements again. I'm totally 50/50 on this! ugh.
kiwi / 501 posts
@PurplePumps: Europe!! So exciting! How long are you going for!? Hoping and praying you have some clarity and direction on your next steps! Are either months less stressful or less chaotic?
AFM, got AF today, my nurse changed my BC start date. I'm not starting BC until June 14th. It will be CD19. Apart of me really wished I could start today, I would be less concerned about cysts or growing follies! Doc knows best though!
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@PurplePumps: Have an absolutely AMAZING trip! So so excited for you.
@Winnie13: Why did they change the start date? DO you ovulate on your own at all? x
@NorthStar: Stalking to watch your upcoming transfer!
kiwi / 501 posts
@jaguar: I'm not too sure. The earliest start date for BC is June 6th. RE feels if I was to ovulate, it would happen by CD18 (that won't be the case), so he is pushing it to that part in my cycle. When I do O (which is rare) it's around CD30 something. I'm trying not to worry about it and just follow directions! I just don't want to mess up my July start!

Hi ladies, I'm back. After the second IVF disaster, I needed a mental break. DH, genius that he is, realized that I responded much better when I was taking prednisone in each luteal phase. With some research, we think I have a rare problem called lymphocytic oophoritis, where my immune system attacks my ovaries. It's the only logical explanation for my terrible AMH values (0.2, 0.27 in July 2015 at age 35, FSH 6, in a family where many people get pregnant easily around 40. We decided to do three months of prednisone and then a third IVF. Our RE only does five protocols and didn't have a good explanation, so we got a second opinion. New RE thinks I was triggered too early, and that pregnyl should have been IM, not SQ. He also recommended a microdose lupron flare with testosterone priming and lower dose growth hormone. We will freeze all and plan for a surrogate. We have a good potential surrogate, but we haven't gotten a definite agreement, then she needs to pass the medical evaluation. I start lupron 6/16, then stims 6/17 with a tentative 6/29 retrieval. I've had a mess with work- unexpectedly lost my job ten days after finding out our embryo didn't make it to freeze. I get paid until mid August, which makes it less bad. I have a job offer which I just need to formally accept that starts late August. I'm doing some temp work in the meantime which will allow me to take two weeks off while I do stims, and should be able to do the same thing for an early August cycle if needed (I expect we will).
Some good things:
New RE wanted to recheck my AMH, and it's up to 0.73 after only 7 weeks on prednisone! We aren't rechecking, but maybe it will continue to go up. Maybe, just maybe, I'll respond like a "normal" 36-year-old on the prednisone and we will only need one more cycle.
Also our old house is under contract, we are waiting on the inspection report. Our contractor should be finished this week and we are starting to settle in.

@AmeliaBedilia: Oh my gosh, you have had quite a ride lately. Sorry to hear about your job but it sounds like it might be a blessing in disguise (still getting paid, flexibility with the temping, etc). And congrats on the new job and AMH increase.
Sending lots of prayers and good vibes to you! xoxo

@NorthStar:
for this week! I'll be thinking about you!
@PurplePumps: Enjoy! I love Europe this time of year before tourist season (and the continent) really heats up!
@Winnie13: Good luck getting ready! Your BC start date will be here before you know it! I second what others have mentioned about acupuncture and anti-inflammation diet. I have no idea if these things were what made IVF work, but I felt best doing everything I could!
@AmeliaBedilia: Great to hear your update and glad that your job and house transitions are all coming into completion! Very good news about your AMH. Wow! Wishing you so much luck this next month!
I don't know if I mentioned this before but my doula was a surrogate at one point. She is older now (ha! but still younger than me!) so she is probably "retired" but I could put you in touch if you wanted to bounce questions off of her!

@AmeliaBedilia: Wow! So many things going on at once!! That's awesome about your AMH! I'm sorry about losing your job, but so awesome about a new job offer! Definitely seems like a blessing in disguise though! The timinig sounds great for your next IVF cycle! Praying for you and that everything works out with your surrogate!
@Amorini: Thank you! Already started the diet change and feeling good! About 2 weeks before we get the ball rolling!
