Oh and the thirst!!! Can't get enough to drink! That's my most irritating symptom today. Worse than the bloating.

@Jenn23: oy! Hopefully the thirst will help you with the post-retrieval bloating, at least. How come you have to pick up your meds daily? Is it to save $$ by only buying what you need? Hang in there

  3. Jenn23

    persimmon / 1085 posts

@Shutterbug: my meds are over $500 a day and is be out that much money, so the last two days I am buying one day's worth meds since we don't know when trigger will be. Wouldn't care if the pharmacy was closer to home. What do you mean by the thirst helping? More fluids now helps prevent more bloat? Thanks.

  4. Shutterbug

    grapefruit / 4703 posts

@Jenn23: ah, totally makes sense. Too bad it's so far away! About the thirst, yeah - just that if you're well hydrated now it'll hopefully help you get a head start on hydrating post-retrieval. Plus it'll help with the IV during retrieval I'd bet.

@Jenn23: Does your pharmacy accept returns at all? One of mine does, and they do free shipping over $300. Their pricing was $55 per vial for the Bravelle and $70 per vial for the Menopur I think. Are you going to be on Endometrin? I didn't know about the coupons for that until after I started the first time, but they've recently changed it so you can save $50 every two weeks.

@FliegepilzHut: Best of luck with your ultrasound tomorrow. All my fingers crossed for you!

I just got home from my post-transfer acupuncture session, so feeling very relaxed. Transfer went really well. I don't know the official grading, but to my eyes the picture looked good, so we are feeling very positive! Now all there is to do is wait... Our beta is scheduled for the 11th but I'll probably test a few days before that.

Thanks so much to everyone for all your words of support!

@momazon: Yay for a good transfer and a relaxing acupuncture session. Your beta will be here in no time

@Jenn23: It sucks that it is so far for you to go to get the meds. Seems like you are so close to triggering, maybe it is the estrogen level that he wants to see higher or is just giving them an extra day to get plump!
I was also buying my meds a day at a time towards the end because I didn't want to end up with extras but I still have a pen and a half of Gonal F in my fridge....I am hoping that I won't need to save it!

I wish I saw this thread when I was going through all the IVF meds and waiting and updates....and did I mention meds?! I'm glad this is here.

  9. Jenn23

    persimmon / 1085 posts

@Shutterbug: Thanks, good to know. I'll keep drinking lots of fluids!!

@momazon: No returns on any meds, so we'd be out lots of money. So it is day to day towards the end of IVF cycles. Such a pain, but worth it not to lose money. I'm so glad your transfer went well! That's great news. Hope you are resting!!

@mrswin: I think tomorrow should be the day, finally!! How are you feeling? Good, I hope! When will you test?

@Blooiez: Yes, this is a great group of ladies here!!

@Blooiez: Congrats I see you are expecting a LO(s)...Care to share a little of your story?

@Jenn23: I feel...nothing. LOL I think I might test out my trigger but I'm not 100% sure, otherwise I will wait until the morning of my beta

Does anyone come home after transfer day and compare your embryo pictures to the "good" and "bad" blastocyst photos on the web? Haha, or is that just me?

  13. FliegepilzHut

    pomegranate / 3533 posts

@mrswin: I think everyone is different...do whatever you think will make you feel the most relaxed and sane! Everything crossed for this one to be "it"!!!

  14. FliegepilzHut

    pomegranate / 3533 posts

@momazon: Um...no...but only because I was told mine were really good-looking...and blastocyst pics are kind of strange-looking, anyway! Did you put in 1 or 2 (just curious)? Maybe we should all compare blastocyst pics?

  15. momazon

    kiwi / 613 posts

@FliegepilzHut: Yup, I totally Googled for blastocyst images and then held my little printout next to the screen to compare, to try to confirm my "I think this one looks pretty good" feeling. Who needs the official grading report from the lab? Not me? Ha!

We put two back. We did an eSET for the first cycle, and a single for the FET, but doubles for my cycles since then.

  16. FliegepilzHut

@momazon: They didn't give me official grades either... But it sounds like at least you have the experience to judge! Sending to your two sweet embies!

@momazon: ummm YES! I spent waaay too much time comparing my blastocysts to others on google images.

@Jenn23: Wow your follies are really growing! Mine were much smaller when I triggered but my estrogen was through the roof so I guess its related to that? Hoping you can trigger tomorrow. I know what you mean about extra meds. I have a couple extra menopur that I wish I could return.

@momazon: Glad transfer went well today!! My doctor told us what our embryos were graded but you can bet I would be self analyzing with google pics if he didn't

@FliegepilzHut: SOOOOOO excited for your US tomorrow!!!

@mrswin: I can't decide when I am going to POAS either.. I work all weekend so I don't want to get a - and upset myself so will probably wait until monday when I am off work. My beta is wed when is yours?

Thanks everyone for your nice words about my pup. He had to go back to the vet today for more fluids, pain meds and anti nausea meds. They were thinking maybe pancreantitis.. but the labs didn't really show that. He is only 2. He is the happiest dog I have ever met so seeing him so sad has been hard but he has looked like he has a little more life in him tonight so hoping tomorrow morning I will see a lot of improvement. If he still doesn't eat he will need to stay at the vets for iv fluid..

We had our first appt with the RE yesterday and it went SO well. DH and I walked out of there with much lighter shoulders The RE himself was lovely, I can see why he came so highly recommended by my ob/g.

My uterine lining was fricken AMAZING at 6.6mm. I have never, this entire year of loads of scans, had anything more than 2.5mm. RE said it's definitely a sign that the OD has resulted in lowered androgens or I would not have been able to produce that lining Ovaries were still typical of PCOS, but not as extreme as before.

I have final bloods to be done on Mon 11 Aug (2 days shy of 4 weeks since the lap) to check my androgens as by then they will have stabilised as much as they will following the drilling. He said that male hormones are stored in fat tissue where they also secrete from, so it wouldn't be a true result for us to test my levels now.

We have out next appt with him on Thurs 14th where he'll finalise our schedule based on the blood results and we'll have the more thorough IVF chat, then I see the nurse for the medicine and injecting crash course. Seems we are set for our first IVF cycle in September!

This was the first "lady doctor" appt DH had come to. I was very impressed with him! He asked loads of questions during the chat and even came in to watch the u/s. I was pretty convinced he was going to just wait awkwardly in the Doc's office while we did the nitty gritty in the adjoining exam room. Turned out later though that he didnt know the probe was actually inserted into my vagina at the time he was sitting next to me watching the screen haha

Just a few stats that the RE gave us *

    - 60% chance of pregnancy on an IVF cycle
    - transfering 2 vs 1 embs doubles your chances of a pregnancy
    - transfering 2 embs and having twins : 25-35% chance
    - transfering 2 embs and ending up with triplets : 1 in 500.
    - same success rate doing fresh and frozen embs

*I know stats very so wildly so I'm sharing this for anyone's interest in a South African fertility clinic's stats

@momazon: Ummm.. no but that is because I didn't get a picture of it, just the grading information so I looked that up on line when I got back. I did get an ultrasound pic from when they put the embryo in!

@Mrs.Pinecone316: My beta is scheduled for Tuesday. I will probably test Monday morning since it is a holiday and I don't have to be at work. Hope the pup is feeling better this morning.

@Robyn_ZA: Sounds like you got a ton of information at your meeting. FX your blood work is good and you are able to do your cycle in September!

I tested this morning and got a which is good because that means that my HCG trigger is gone... I probably won't test again until Monday morning now

Feeling very low and losing even more hope for a decent retrieval. Just left my scan and almost half are over 20mm. I just think my egg quality isn't good and I'm doubting we will get more than a few that fertilize. Tonight should be trigger and I'm just not even excited about it at all.

@Jenn23: I'm sorry you are feeling down after your scan. This process is so hard....Were you planning on doing ICSI? I know that it won't change the egg quality but it will at least make sure every available egg gets fertilized.

@Jenn23: I had the extreme thirst too, but I was very well hydrated for my ER which I believe really helped me out. I think it helped with my IV and with the bloating.

@momazon: I'm glad your transfer went well! FX!!

@Mrs.Pinecone316: I hope your pup is feeling better soon! Sounds promising that he will get through this just fine!

@Robyn_ZA: So glad you had such a GREAT appointment! Sounds very promising! Yay!

@mrswin: Glad your trigger is out! FX that you see the real BFP soon!!

@Jenn23: I am hoping and praying that your results will be better than you think! I second what @mrswin said about considering ICSI. Has your clinic talked to you about that at all. It can be very helpful with higher fertilization rates even when you don't have MFI. Maybe you will be surprised. I am holding out so much hope for you!!!

@Jenn23: My office triggers when they're between 18-24. Normally if most of them are in the 18 range they'll have me stim for another day to edge them up in the 20s.

Thanks, everyone. Still feeling down but hopefully it is just the high estrogen levels messing with me. Well, just got the call that trigger is tonight at 9:30. Retrieval 9:30 EST Friday. I'm not all excited just like before, but perhaps that is better since I'm trying to protect my heart and keep a guard up. Maybe I'll be excited after the retrieval. Who knows. Just think I'm going to have so many over mature eggs this time and worried I won't have hardly any fertilize. Although, we really just need a few, or even one, right? At least my estrogen did jump way up today. It's now about 2400, vs. 1365 yesterday. Guess that is good.

I appreciate the support. Thanks, ladies!! Oh, and no ICSI. Our fertilization percentage last time was over 50% (8 out of 13 eggs) so we'll hope for the same this time. Fingers crossed.

@FliegepilzHut: Can't wait to hear how you make out!!!!

@momazon: That's good to hear that your clinic does that. Makes me feel better for sure! Because I've been reading so much online that once they reach over 22mm and especially 24mm, they are less likely to be mature. And I have already some 23's, 21's and 20's today so I know they will be bigger on Friday and could have almost half of my eggs be 24 or bigger. Some grew 3mm since yesterday! That's why I think the quality may not be good.

@Robyn_ZA: So glad you had a great RE visit!! I know you must be so anxious to get started!!

@momazon: @Sunshine1810: @mrswin: @twodoghouse: @swedishfish: @Shutterbug: Thank you, ladies! DH and I are doing the best we can right now... It was just a pretty massive disappointment (even though I thought I'd accounted for worst case scenarios)....and, unfortunately, it's not over by a long shot. This is our second loss...and we're going ahead with the repeat loss work-up. I've got a repeat U/S in 2 days, just to confirm what we're already pretty certain of...then we stop the progesterone and wait... Hopefully we'll be able to try again in a few months...

@Jenn23: I'm so glad your estrogen levels are up and you'll be triggering tonight! Keep the faith-- I bet you'll have some (a lot?) of good ones in there!

Thanks again for all the good thoughts and support.
