    OK, all is good. I called and talked to one of the IVF nurses and she said my numbers are within normal range. Fast, but not too fast. Whew. She also had my numbers from my 2012 cycle and read them out to me and they were so similar to the ones I have now. And she confirmed I did a 9 day stim back then, and said I most likely will again. So things are pretty similar to last time which worked for us, so I guess I need to just relax.

    @Jenn23: No, don't freak out! I only stimmed for 7 days and they had to cut my doses back, but that's because I would have over-stimulated otherwise. This was your first check today, right? How many days is this?

    @Jenn23: I'm glad you got in touch with your IVF nurse! BTW, I think my levels were in the 300s after 3 days of stims...and they weren't doing U/S at that point. It sounds like you're doing great!

    @FliegepilzHut: Wow, I didn't realize you only stimmed 7 days! I guess it is all fine. I told the nurse that I was reading on IVF forums and I know I shouldn't second-guess anything and be reading that stuff and she laughed and said she understands. She was so sweet and talked me down! I think the hormones are starting to get to me. I'm tearing up easily now!

    @mrswin: Oh yes, I missed that post. Thanks! She also said the Ganirelix will slow the growth a little, too. So yours was also a shorter 9 day cycle. I feel much better now. Thanks!!

    @swedishfish: Thanks! Darn hormones!

    Sounds like everyone's trucking ahead! Going to be a busy next few days for the IVF crew, both with follicles growing and embryos growing in the lab! Good luck!!!

    I'm a little bummed right now because we only got seven eggs during the ER this time. Six were mature, and five fertilized. I'm crossing my fingers that our baby is one of those five! I am so ready for this journey to be over! I just need to keep thinking "it only takes one!"

    @Jenn23: I was a really fast responder to stims too. I can't remember how many days I did, but at my first monitoring appointment I was nearly ready to go. I went back the next day to see how they progressed and triggered that night. I can't remember all the details but I do think I had less mature eggs compared to the # retrieved. But it was successful for me. Fingers crossed everything goes well your next couple appointments!

    It's so exciting to see this thread picking up steam again! It was around this time last year that I was prepping for my IVF cycle. I hope you all get lucky in the next few weeks!

    @Jenn23: I only stimmed 7 days since I was such a fast responder too. Hoping for the best for us!

    @momazon: Aw, sorry your bummed with the # but you are absolutely right, it only takes one!!

    @twodoghouse: Thanks! Glad it worked out for you last year, hoping for the same!

    I missed the call from my Dr today but they said everything is dividing nicely and are scheduling me for a Monday transfer. Just praying I feel better by then. This bloating sucks. Trying to stay positive but ever since that one ultrasound when I has a small amount of fluid in my uterus it has really thrown me making me less optimistic. Just praying that the decision is clear on Monday on whether to transfer or not. And trying to get excited again too because I wanted to do a fresh transfer so bad this month but then I kind of accepted that I would have to wait and do a FET so now that its back on I just have mixed feelings!

    @Mrs.Pinecone316: That's great news! Were you leaning toward 1 or 2 before? Hopefully the decision will be much more clear on Monday. Can't wait to hear! I hope you feel better soon! Pamper yourself the next couple of days!

    @momazon: FX that your LO is there and you will see a very soon!

    @Mrs.Pinecone316: I hope you are feeling better soon, it was 2 full days for me before the bloating started to subside, are you having any other symptoms of OHSS? Your transfer will be the day after mine... so exciting!

  17. Mrs.Pinecone316

    persimmon / 1316 posts

    @FliegepilzHut: Pretty sure we are set on transferring 2.

    @mrswin: well what has been happening the last few days is I wake up less bloated, but by the end of the day I am SO bloated and weigh 3 pounds more than that morning. But then over night I pee all night long and then weigh 3 pounds less in the morning. I def feel like I have at least mild OHSS. Talked to my nurse this morning. I guess what worries me is my friend transferred when having mild OHSS and then it got really bad after she got pregnant with twins. But I read a bunch where sometimes mild OHSS can make the embryo stick better. Hey I will take any good news I can get right now:)

    @FliegepilzHut: The nurse called this morning and said all five were dividing on track, so they're planning a 5-day transfer on Tuesday.

    @Mrs.Pinecone316: So sorry about the mild OHSS, I've heard that's absolutely horrible! Good luck on Monday!

    @mrswin: Countdown! Only one more sleep until transfer!

    @Mrs.Pinecone316: Are you still drinking Gatorade? Having salty snacks? Small meals? All of those things helped but I would agree that it was 10x worse at the end of the day. I hope it starts to dissipate soon

    @momazon: Yay for a day-5 transfer... it looks like we will all be back to back, me tomorrow, @Mrs.Pinecone316: on Monday and you on Tuesday!

    @mrswin: So excited for your transfer tomorrow!!!

    @Mrs.Pinecone316: Sounds good! Make sure you keep peeing lots and keep your team in the loop! Hopefully this is the worst of it!

    @momazon: Thanks!
    @mrswin: Yes I am drinking gatorade alllll day long, lots of salty food and protein. Today I was still really bloated but a little less than yesterday so hoping tomorrow is even better. @FliegepilzHut: Thanks I will!

    @momazon: That's great that all five are doing great! Two more days!!

    Just had my day 6 scan and they are really growing! She found 11 and most are 16's, 15's, 14's and a few smaller. Retrieval either Thursday or Friday it seems. I go back tomorrow morning.

    I could use some support ladies. We transferred one single blastocyst this morning and things went well with the procedure.... but I don't think we are going to end up with any to freeze. My last update was Friday and they said we had 11 embryos but when we spoke with the doctor this morning she said that there were only two blastocysts, the one we transferred and one other than was lower quality that they were going to leave for another day to see if it can be frozen. The rest of the embryos are not progressing and they don't expect any to make it to blastocyst Meaning we lost 9 embryos from day-3 to day-5

    I am second guessing our decision to only transfer one and I upset that although it seemed like we would have more to choose from today there was really only 2 out of the 17 retrieved....

  31. FliegepilzHut

    pomegranate / 3533 posts

    @mrswin: I'm sorry you're feeling down right now. The one blast you transferred was of high quality, right? I would maintain that you still stand a very good chance of getting pregnant this cycle (way higher than if you had done any other kind of treatment/non-treatment)! I, too, lost 9 embryos between Day 3 and Day 5 (14/17 doing well on Day 3, down to 2 good blasts on Day 5...and 3 more lagged along to make it to freeze). I don't know what to make of that. Try to be especially kind to yourself right now and have a good laugh, if you can, or a good cry, if you need to. You've done the absolute best you could...and if for any reason that's not "good enough," you (and your doctor) have learned a lot (that will make things easier when/if you ever need to do this again). I'm glad your transfer went well. Big hugs coming your way and lots of good wishes for a very soon!

    @mrswin: If it makes you feel any better, I'm on my way right now to visit my best friend and her baby (hubby's driving)-- her son was from a single embryo transfer for her first IVF cycle and it obviously worked! :). At my clinic, my RE showed me the stats for a woman of my age and condition, etc. and there was an equal chance of live birth with an eSet (a double only dramatically increased the chances for twins). I know the stats are different at each clinic but that's what encouraged us to go for an eSet our first time.

    My clinic only ends up with any frozen embryos about half the time, and even then it's generally only one-- they only freeze good quality blasts that they believe have a good chance. Is your clinic quite conservative like this too? Hopefully you'll end up with the one extra one, that would be great!

    This process is so rough and emotional-- I wish none of us had to go through it!

  33. spaniellove

    honeydew / 7916 posts

    @momazon: @mrswin: My clinic told me the same thing about transferring one vs two, that transferring two usually doesn't increase your odds of getting pregnant; it only increases your odds of another one coming along for the ride.

    @mrswin: hugs I like @FliegepilzHut: 's advice of be kind to yourself. Focus on the embryo you did transfer. Fingers crossed that you get a in less than a week!

    @mrswin: hugs in my two cycles I had 8 embryos the first time on day 3 and 9 the second on day 3. I only had 3 on day 5 (1 good, 2 ok), transferred the 1 good and none made it to freeze. The second time I only had 2 good and 'a couple' maybes on day 5 and again none made it to freeze (transferred 2). It's so frustrating, but it really does only take one embryo, and as others have said, the odds aren't really much greater with 2 when you're talking about blastocysts. Don't beat yourself up, and I hope that your super little embryo will be your LO!

    @mrswin: I was so, so sad when I got the call the morning after our transfer that none made it to freeze. I truly know what that feels like, but just think about the amazing embryo you transferred today and try to think happy thoughts!! ((Hugs)) I'm excited for you!!!!

    @FliegepilzHut: @momazon: @spaniellove: @swedishfish: @Shutterbug: Thanks so much ladies... I knew you would understand. I had a good cry earlier and then we went for dinner with my family so it was a good distraction. We are committed to moving forward and just having faith in the embryo that we did transfer.

  38. mrswin

    nectarine / 2433 posts

    @momazon: Our clinic seems to be pretty stringent with their guidelines for what they will freeze. Hopefully at least one makes it tomorrow.

    @FliegepilzHut: I guess I just didn't realize how many could be "lost" in that one day

    @spaniellove: I have seen that study too (I think it was posted a few pages back) but I think that I was just panicking because if it doesn't make it to freeze tomorrow would we not have been better off to at least transfer it today.

    @Shutterbug: I appreciate you sharing that, it just really took me by surprise

    @swedishfish: Me too!

    @Jenn23: Thanks! How are you doing?

  39. spaniellove

    @mrswin: It's all so hard to deal with the "what ifs". I remember the feeling of finding out I had none left to freeze. Remember that the best and strongest is inside you! My fingers are crossed for you

    @Jenn23: wow that is great! E.R. will be here before you know it.

    @mrswin: Hey there. This is the first I have been able to come on HB today but wanted you to know I have been thinking about you ALL day. I am sorry to hear your feeling down and that you may not have any to freeze. But just keep your mind on that beautiful blast you transferred today. That is all you need to have your miracle baby! I have so much hope for you! Hang in there, get some rest.

    As for me...transfer is scheduled for 9 tomorrow but I am still not sure if it will happen with my OHSS or not. I am OK with whatever the decision is. I am hoping its something my doctor isn't worried about but if he has concerns and canceling is best then I will trust him. Just praying that it is an easy decision and not one I will end up second guessing in the end. I honestly have no idea what is going on with my embryo's # wise. All I know is 13 fertilized and he left a voice mail today saying my embryos are doing excellent so I am just going to keep positive. Really hoping I feel 100% better tomorrow! Will update you then:)
