@Crystal: Sadly, I'm here for about 2 more hours. Ugh. Life as a litigator sucks sometimes. "ex parte notice" is the bane of my existence. As for your bronchitis, that's crazy! I'm so sorry you are still battling it. That's great about meeting your doctor, though. He sounds proactive!

@lilyofthewest: Wow! Amsterdam?! That's crazy! Would you be happy to go out there? Where are you at now?

@Crystal: Oh yuck. Sorry to hear you're still sick. Hope full health is coming soon!

@MrsMcD: Errrr....yes and no or maybe? I'm in DC now.
I love the idea of living outside the US, at least for a few years. I think it would be really interesting, educational, growthy.
But, as a hard-core introvert, it is also pretty terrifying to think of making a cultural shift like that and completely abandoning my little core of introvert-safe friends here.
It would be problematic for me career-wise. I'm a nurse -- which is a less portable career than you would think. I can work anywhere in the US, or with most international aid groups, or in much of Central America with relative ease. Working anywhere in Europe would essentially mean going to school all over again if I wanted to keep doing the same kind of work that I do now. I could potentially skip going to school all over again if I worked in policy or research rather than in direct patient care. Or, of course, if I changed jobs entirely.
I also have an ex-of-doom who lives in Europe, and who is only an ex because he lives in Europe. And, at least at the time, I was too afraid of the social and career impacts of moving to be willing to go with him. So, ah, that's a bit awkward.

@Crystal: are you on prednisone? It delayed me last month, but I got a pretty hefty shot of it before I started the 7 day pack. I hope you get better soon!!! I did read that it can help some people TTC.
@lilyofthewest: good luck with that opportunity! If you do get to move abroad, we should totally meet before you leave (I also work in DC)
My right ovary is hurting. I'm hoping it's hurting for positive reasons...

Good morning ladies! Sacrificial lamb here... coming at ya with an 8dpo BFN. Dang it! I feel fine with it. Like this strange peace that no matter what happens, I'm okay. So there. It was time someone peed on something around here!

In keeping with the spirit of @Ameliabedilia's Arby's coupon yesterday, I found once this morning for $5 off at Ace Hardware. I will be using it toward a can of paint so that I can paint my study Do any of y'all have Ace Hardware's? They have a side section of TONS of cute stuff like monogrammed cups, blinged out frames, etc.

@mrsmccarthy: HOW ARE YOU DOING???? I miss you around here! Please update us on how things are going!

@organicmama: LOL. Glad you're keeping good perspective.
DH and I had a long debate and what to do about this cycle and next cycle and the conflict with my work conference (the one I've been trying to 2-3 years to help run it, and I finally get to, and I will probably never have this chance again). Due date would be 3 days before start of conference for this cycle and I'd be 36 weeks for the next one. I said it is suboptimal but doable if we were creative (maybe induced at 39, my mom comes along, I could have frequent breaks to see baby/breastfeed/pump). DH is strongly opposed. He is probably right- I think I am so angry with this whole process. Maybe we NTNP for the next two cycles. I keep telling myself it's only four days, but darn it, I really want to go!
One other happy thing is my new job is so much more family friendly than my old one. One of my new coworkers with a four day workweek has shared custody in the summer, so she works 3 days when she has the kids and 5 days the weeks she doesn't. Good sign if I can ever get KU. (Not that we want to get divorced but like how flexible they are).
In more fun news: I have acupuncture, then work on decluttering today. DH and I are visiting friends tonight 1.5 hours away and having dinner at a brazilian steakhouse for restaurant week (inspired by the other thread). So excited!

@GoGoSnoGirl: sorry to hear about AF but glad you are moving forward with next steps. It must be nice to feel a little more in control of the process!
@lilyofthewest: Amsterdam would be such an adventure! I can see how it would be a hard sell, but there is no harm in going to the interview and checking things out. I have lived abroad for extended periods a few times, but in both cases there were already some americans and some identified supports. I'm happy to chat if it starts looking more serious!
@organicmama: Yay Ace! We have a few nearby and DH is a handy-type so we are there all the time. I didn't realize what cute stuff they have until recently. They are always so patient when I go in with my clueless questions!

@Crystal: so sorry to hear you are still sick but glad that you are able to get blood work done at the same time. I hope that the doc is cool with the referral and moving things along!

@organicmama: I miss you all so much! I have been stalking this whole time! So far so good. Next week is my first scan and I am very nervous/excited. Hoping there is a healthy baby in there. Been having morning sickness and no more spotting so I feel like things will be okay but it's always a bit scary especially at my age. I am SO EXCITED to see more BFPs on here! And i just KNOW clomid is gonna rock your little eggs into full gear!
Thinking of you all and hoping for good news from this board daily. Hugs!

@MamaCate: yes, I do like the feeling of being more in control, though "control" is my problem... I know I'm really not in control of the whole ttc process, but I absolutely keep feeling I need to be. I want to just "work harder" like I would to solve other problems or get projects completed. I have realized I miss the days of being on the pill, b/c I was in control of what happened & when (uhh, except no babies with that, of course, lol!)
I need to let go a little!
Happy Thurs y'all.
pomelo / 5129 posts
@GoGoSnoGirl: I struggle with the concept of "control" too. I think that's why I can't quit OPKs (even though I picked them up in March after my MC just so I could have some idea what was going on!). I've been perfectly regular since then (except for an O delayed by steroids last month) but I keep feeling like I NEED to test!
nectarine / 2465 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: You can't be worried about future possibilities, you have to concentrate on right now If you are KU this next cycle and it interferes with your conference... well, that's a problem for your future self!

I was just unpacking a box of stuff at work and found a FRER. Yahoo!!!!
pear / 1558 posts
@MaryM: omg, I LOVE that there are so many things we can test ourselves! The days of the month I don't need to POAS for O or hcg seem like wastes of perfectly good samples. Lol! hell, I'd look at DH's sperm if I had a microscope & I thought I knew what the heck I was looking for!!
I know temping & testing make some people crazy or stressed, but I'm the opposite, for sure.
One more funny but humbling experience for me today: with all the talk about SoftCups on here recently, I decided to give them a try for AF. Let me just say I'm having flash backs to my teens & learning how to use tampons all over again! I read & reread the instructions, & while I think I got it, I'm so nervous I'm going to have a "dam break" at some point today!

@mrsMcCarthy: Let us know how it goes! I am so happy for you! Boooo for the morning sickness. At least it is a good sign though!
I go in for my 13 day ultrasound to see how many mature follicles I have! I just finished my 100mg of Clomid yesterday, so fingers crossed! My hcg shot came in a couple days ago. I am NOT a fan of needles, so I am not looking forward to that.

@GoGoSnoGirl: @MaryM: I think this is hard for a lot of us who like to plan and have control. I can relate!
@septca: that seems like a good sign of something!
@AmeliaBedilia: I wish I had great advice for you regarding the conference. Ntnp may be a good middle ground for now. Fwiw, I had a hard time standing for long periods the first week or two postpartum with LO so the idea of combining work stress and newborn stress would scare me. On the other hand, a lot of other things could be different in your life by April. Good luck !
pomelo / 5129 posts
@GoGoSnoGirl: OMG. Temping is like the one thing that keeps me MOST sane! Any time people have suggested I take a break from it thinking it would aleve stress I've wanted to stab them
@fotolori1: !!! I'm not a fan of needles either.

I had acupuncture this morning. She said the spleen meridian that was out previously (a key one for fertility) is where it should be, so that is good. I know I need to get some stuff done around the house, but I am having trouble getting motivated.

@fotolori1: good luck at the ultradoubd! Let us know how it goes!

@lilyofthewest: Do you still keep in contact with the ex-of-doom? That part of your story totally made me laugh.
@MaryM: I can't believer you felt your right ovary hurting! That's awesome. I wish I felt my ovaries doing something. Anything!
@organicmama: You are the best sacrificial lamb ever. Sorry about the bfn. But it's still way too early. I'll pee on an HPT soon! And thanks for the Ace coupon. I love Ace Hardware!
@AmeliaBedilia: I vote you keep trying or, at the very least, NTNP. Have fun at your dinner!!!
@GoGoSnoGirl: It's so hard to accept that a lot of this TTC stuff is not in our control. And I, too, would bust out a microscope and do my own SA every week if I could.
@KelLeeLeee: FWIW, I think you should keep TTC even though you are starting a new job.
@septca: Yahoo! That's as good as finding money!
@fotolori1: Oh my gosh!! You are in the midst of something wonderful!! Best of luck to you, doll. I hate needles too. yuck! Please share the ultrasound results with us. And I think I forgot to tell you that i love your new profile picture.

@fotolori1: I think we're almost cycle twins!! Tonight is night 4 out of 5 with Clomid. I go back Monday morning so my ultrasound! My hcg shot has been in the fridge since April/May
pomelo / 5129 posts
@MrsMcD: I've had massive cysts on my ovaries, so I have a feeling that's what it is.
They've been monitored, and my doc thinks I over "exuberant ovulation" and it's just part of my cycle. Instead of having cysts 1-2 cm before I O, mine get to be 5-7.
But so far, bigger doesn't seem better...
But I can feel some discomfort a few days before O. I'm assuming that's what it's from.
GOLD / pomegranate / 3938 posts
@LindsayInNY: you are getting close!!!!
@MaryM: Oh gees. I'm so sorry you are dealing with these cysts!
pomelo / 5129 posts
@MrsMcD: Eh, I'm getting used to them. We've known about them since January when I had my first US
I'm trying not to worry about them too much. My doctor doesn't seem too concerned. And my sister had something similar (though she seemed to be in much more pain...either that or she IS a pain who exaggerates about every illness) and she has four kids. So they didn't keep her from getting pregnant (but she also had kids WAY younger. Like when she was 15 years younger than me)
But in the back of my mind I wonder if it's affecting things. It's on my list of things to ask about at my upcoming annual.

@MrsMcD: I do still keep in touch. I actually called him the day Sweetie got offered the interview and said, "Please tell me not to panic." He has been good natured and supportive, but, I still feel awkward about it.
nectarine / 2465 posts
@MaryM: What kind of pain is it? Like an ache, or a pinching? Just curious because I often get pinching around my ovaries.
@MrsMcD: Oh, I am! I'm taking a step back this cycle (still bd'ing though) just to be able to relax for a month and focus on my upcoming changes. Too much at once can make me a little nutso
pear / 1697 posts
@organicmama: thanks for keeping us all entertained by peeing on things so early. Hoping a is just a day or three away for you.
I feel like I'm missing out on something in the parts of my cycle where there's nothing to pee on. Lucky me I'm back around to opks.

@MrsMcD: @lilyofthewest: @MamaCate: @MaryM: @MrsMccarthy: thanks for the sympathy, friends! I spent all day on the couch resting which has helped a lot.
@organicmama: no news yet, which I assume means good news. They let me go home, anyways. Thanks for taking one for the team by poas!
I left the hospital this morning, and it looks as though I thankfully don't have pneumonia. It is looking like my lungs have seized from the bronchitis, so they're trying to get them to open back up to work normally.
@MaryM: yep, prednisone. I think exuberant ovulation is such a funny term! I hope it means positive things.
DH said if we have a baby this month it will be a superhero and/or a ninja turtle. He's convinced it will be a radioactive baby because of the steroids, X-rays, inhalers and codeine. I think he may be secretly thrilled if that happens, lol.
@septca: only you would find a frer at work! Lol
@lilyofthewest: whenever I don't poas I always feel like I'm missing a step in my getting ready routine.
@GoGoSnoGirl: I constantly struggle with the concept of control. There's just nothing to be done in this case, and it's hard for me to accept. I would also do an SA if I could!
@AmeliaBedilia: NTNP might be a happy medium these next two cycles.
@fotolori1: needles are awful. I keep waiting to get immune to them during this journey.
@MrsMcD: when do you think you'll start poas? I always start way earlier than my posted date...

I've decided that no matter what happens with this cycle, I'm calling it a success because my LP is now officially at least 10 days! Woo! So glad I didn't start bleeding at 7 DPO like I did last cycle. I'm feeling pretty optimistic, maybe I'll test tomorrow at 11 DPO.

@crystal: the words "seized lungs" make me feel like I can't breath. Ugghhh. Hope you are back to 100% soon lady! And I will start looking for baby gifts for the superhero and/or ninja turtle baby... Cuz that's just gonna be awesome!
I'm really suspicious that this cycle is a bust. Today i have had textbook (for me) week-before-af-comes symptoms. Moody, irritable (mostly only when DH breathes), and a little tired. I know it's too early to tell. I will not be POAS in the a.m. cuz that just sucked. But maybe saturday... nighty night girls!

@marym: I KNOW!!! I don't mind the ones for blood draws, but I don't like the ones that are meant to put things IN! The medicine always hurts!
@mamacate: I definitely will! I am so excited... I think it will be very cool to see exactly HOW MANY eggs are mature!
@mrsmcd: I will share for sure! And thank you (about my picture) that's from my recent wedding!!
@lindsayinny: YAY for twins! How fun would it be to be due date twins! I should be having my IUI one day next week. I am a very regular cycle kind of girl.. 28 days exactly! I am guessing they will tell me to go ahead and take my trigger shot Sunday or Monday night and they do the IUI 36 hours later. Have you ever taken the hcg shot before? I am wondering if it hurts. lol I am such a weenie!
@crystal: I am sure we will think needles are no big deal by the end of all this... I hope!
grapefruit / 4028 posts
@fotolori1: me too! That pic is breathtaking! I love the colors!
@organicmama: I didn't realize how bad it was til they measured it yesterday. I just thought I was really out of shape, lol.
You made me laugh with your DH comment- mine was annoying me for talking to me too much today. I really hope it's not an AF symptom , though! I'm still holding out hope for you!
