June POAS: TTC 6+ Months

@NorthStar: Remind me, are you on meds? As I'm sure you know letrozole/clomid can cause your follicles to mature nice and early. My first IUI cycle I was on letrozole and they started my blood test and ultrasound on CD10. I had to go again on CD12 and that's the day I was ready to trigger (I usually dont ovulate till CD16-21). This time on clomid they started on CD12, and I was ready to trigger that day. Long story short I couldn't trigger that evening (I was unavailable for an IUI 36 hrs later), but by the next day my follicles had already grown by 3mm (one was 25.5!) and I surged naturally. So, if there's any way to keep the CD12 appointment, I'd do it! But your clinic can advise on what they normally do when the appointment date falls on a weekend.... Good luck!!

@YogiRunner: I'll be starting clomid tomorrow, have unexplained infertility (at least at this point) and typically get my surge on day 14. But, yeah, like you said, the medication usually makes it happen sooner. I'm kind of thinking now that I'll just do my day 12 ultrasound on a Sunday since I don't want to waste this cycle. Plus, I have training Monday and then wouldn't need to miss work that day. Thanks for the tips

@NorthStar: My RE likes to bring everyone in on CD10 or CD11 just in case they start to ovulate early. This past cycle, I was ready to trigger on CD11.

@MrsKRB: Wow, I wonder if I should talk to them about having the next ultrasound earlier. I don't want to miss it!

I just had my HSG this morning. It was much less scary than I thought it would be. The catheter hurt a bit, but now I just have very mild cramps. My tubes look fine, everything seems normal. Yay! Now I just wait for the IUI in about a week. I'm so happy the midwives I saw up here will do the procedure with our known donor. What a huge relief!

@2farmmoms: So glad to hear your HSG came back normal and that it wasn't too painful! On to your IUI - hurrah!

I had LH surge testing done today and another follicular ultrasound. I got the results back via the clinic's online portal, but they're very hard to decipher. All I could understand for sure is that I have at least one 22mm follicle, and that my left ovary is three times the volume of my right! That seems so crazy, but my only followup instructions were "have intercourse!"

@AMommyThang: So exciting! We recently bought a farm with an old house we are renovating. So many decisions!!!

CD8 and last day of femara. I just found out today that one of my best friends is pregnant with #4. I knew she was TTC, but has taken close to a year with each of the first three so I thought maybe we could be pregnant together. She is really early, so it's possible, but after this long it is so hard to be hopeful. I have heard from two people who had trouble that they conceived when they weren't even really trying with birthday sex for DH. DH's birthday is when I expect to O, so here's hoping...

@ms.line: Thanks! I'm so relieved and excited that this worked out with the local midwives. It's taken quite a bit of legwork, including overnight shipping the medium that they use to prepare the sperm for the IUI from a midwife in Berkeley, but it looks like it will all come together, and hopefully this crazy experience will make it easier for the next couple who comes along to do the same thing.

@2farmmoms: Hooray for a positive HSG! FX for you this cycle!

@AmeliaBedilia: I'm sorry that your friend is pregnant again, and for at least the time being you can't be pregnant with her. It's tough to have to hear about these things and feel so hopeless with everything else going around. I just want to stop everyone that is close to me, or has some association with me, and tell them to stop. No more babies until I am able to get pregnant. But that's not realistic is it. I am starting to fear that those with babies that have been born since I started trying and going to be trying again soon, and that they will get KU before me, and I will have to deal with that.

@ms.line: Those are some great follow-up instructions!

I'm sitting on CD6 here. My AF has been longer this cycle, so I hope that continues. I was beginning to worry about my increasingly short AFs. We are traveling for the weekend, so when we get back I plan to start BDing! I'm going to start earlier this month to make sure all of the bad sperm are out and all of the fresh sperm are ready to go!

Got a "high" reading on OPK today. DH is away all day though, so I'll jump his bones tomorrow. =D

Waiting for "peak" day. Temps are a little rocky this cycle, I'm guessing my lazy left ovary is preparing to ovulate.

@auggiefrog: I so wish I could push pause on everyone else's reproductive organs until I get KU! Lol!

I'm sorry I was MIA. Work got crazy busy, but I just caught up with the thread. FX so hard this is all of our lucky month!

I had to have a minor outpatient surgery on Thursday to remove a cyst from my leg. I think it may be impacting O date- my OPKs stopped getting darker. I hope my body catches up soon, I need this to happen ASAP!

Second month of clomid, and my ovaries aren't aching like last time. It's a higher dose, so I'm really wondering what that means...

  19. MrsKRB

    nectarine / 2465 posts

@ms.line: I don't think a short period really means anything, your body just might be more efficient at clearing out!

@Crystal: every month is different, sometimes you feel symptoms and sometimes you don't! Hurry up O!

@ms.line: does your doctor have any thoughts on your short AF? I have the opposite problem, my AF is long, this last one was 7 days. I always thought 3-5 days was normal, but my doctor isn't concerned...

  22. sslm

As for me, just finished up AF on Thursday finally. It was hard emotionally, I think because it was the first one since my miscarriage. I can't stop thinking about what would be going on now if I was still pregnant. Bleeding just drove it home that I'm no longer pregnant. Blah.

Hoping I have a semi-decent length cycle. Please no more 50+ day ones...

  23. ms.line

    pear / 1770 posts

@sslm: Nope, my doctor's not concerned either! Guess I just need to learn to listen to her. I'm so sorry for your loss - I'm hoping your cycles get back on track soon.

  24. Mrs. Turtle

    blogger / pear / 1509 posts

@ms.line: It's so hard to listen to doctors sometimes. I'm inherently skeptical, so I always assume they might be missing something or not thinking it through thoroughly. I want to trust them more but with my recent bad luck I'm having trouble! The midwives are so much more through and helpful, in my recent experience.

  25. Crystal

    grapefruit / 4028 posts

@MrsKRB: that's good to know, thank you! I get impatient *now* during TWWs. I'm going to freak during an IUI TWW. How much longer do you have til you test?

@sslm: nope. I've been doing the cheapies twice a day. I'm so sorry for your loss... It's truly heartbreaking to go through that.

@stiletto_mom: Have fun BDing! I saw your other thread- How has your timing been?

I have a feeling I'll get a + OPK tomorrow, which means I'll O 2 days later than I expected. No big deal, just gotta squeeze the BDing in!

Did anyone have a lot of spotting on clomid? I had quite a few days worth after AF last month.

    grapefruit / 4028 posts

@2farmmoms: are these the same midwives you've been using? I'm so glad it looks like things are working out for you!

@AmeliaBedilia: fx bday sex is the lucky ticket. Less stress can only be good for TTC!

@AMommyThang: renovating a house like so much fun!

@NorthStar: how's clomid going for you? My first cycle was last month.

  27. Mrs. Turtle

    blogger / pear / 1509 posts

@Crystal: These are the midwives I originally saw back in March. I didn't realize they did IUIs, and actually they don't normally prepare the sperm (they usually only do IUIs with frozen semen) BUT they did some research, spent time on the phone with other midwives, and are having the medium overnight shipped to them so they can do it for me. It makes me a little nervous that they won't be super experienced, but it's my best option at the moment and I so appreciate their enthusiasm for helping us! I'm really hoping to be low risk so I can continue to use them for pregnancy and hopefully give birth in their birth center. I love the atmosphere there. It's an hour away from us, but my donor suggested planning to stay up there for a week right around my due date. We could take a vacation!

@2farmmoms: what awesome news! (And shows how much they care that they were calling around for info and wanting to work with you). That has to make you feel extremely comfortable working with them.

@2farmmoms: that's awesome that they're going to try something new for you! I'm sure it will go fine, how hard could it be?

@Crystal: I'm flying to TX on Tuesday and I'm a really nervous flyer so I'm going to test that morning (10dpo) and will have a glass of wine if it's negative

@Crystal: no symptoms so far on day 3 of the meds. I had a few emotional moments yesterday, but it was our daughters 3rd birthday and party, so that was probably it. Hope it continues to go well

@auggiefrog, @ms. line, and @crystal: my period was normally only two days long plus one day of light spotting. Both obgyns said it wouldnt be an issue, but I still have a hard time believing that. However, during my first cycle post-progesterone and during clomid (days 1-5), AF lasted 3 full days and 2-3 days of heavy spotting, so.... that was interesting.

  32. auggiefrog

    kiwi / 631 posts

@DesertDreams88: I've heard that a light period can signifying a thin linning. The progresterone helps to thicken the linning. It's just kind of anoying that everyone's doctor so quickly dismisses it as a potential problem.

  33. Crystal

    grapefruit / 4028 posts

@auggiefrog: I completely agree about dr dismissing potential problems. Mine won't discuss P with me at all.

    @MrsKRB: good plan!

@NorthStar: I'm sorry, friend. Big hugs. I hope clomid continues to go easy on you!

@DesertDreams88: we had similar experiences! I'm hoping it doesn't mean my lining is in bad shape...

I've done a few cycles of progesterone, but upon realizing that Femara and/or metformin seem to fix the problem, And that stress makes it worse, I think that a short luteal phase is probably the result of not ovulating strongly enough. DH has been on his "morphology action plan" for almost 3 months and will get a repeat SA this cycle. The downside is it takes 7 days for results (or more), so I had to make a guess what to do this cycle. I'm doing metformin and Femara, figuring that it doesn't seem like a limit, and I didn't want to lose another cycle. My doctor said to increase the metformin as high as I can up to 2000mg. Since I will probably O CD14-15 and today is CD10, I figure this is the key week. I took 1000mg today with plans to take 1500mg tomorrow. Here's to hoping I don't spend tomorrow in the bathroom. I keep thinking of all the people who don't have to do all this crazy stuff.

On other news, DH and I found out we are a little behind on our renovation decisions, so we might skip the trip next weekend to catch up and just relax. Today we looked at cabinets and probably decided our master bath cabinet style, wood, countertop, and countertop edge. We also narrowed down our kitchen countertops. I want Quartz that looks like marble. We found one that is ok with me but DH really likes. I'm leaning toward letting him decide since I chose the overall type. Our contractor now says move in date is moved from Christmas to January. I'm trying to console myself by thinking about how difficult it would be to move with an infant or while 36 weeks pregnant.

    pear / 1770 posts

@AmeliaBedilia: It always depresses me when I think about all the women who never have to go through any of this crap to get pregnant. It's annoying how long it takes for you to get your SA results back! We usually get ours the next day. Fingers crossed that morphology is looking better - I think it's smart you decided to take the Femara, too. All the renovation planning sounds like fun!

@2farmmoms: so glad the HSG was clear and that you’re good to go for your IUI in a place you're comfortable with! Thinking good thoughts!

@ms.line: It’s a great feeling when you know your timing is impeccable. Also, best rx ever!

@mrskrb: I hear you, 2wws do not get any easier, especially after a treatment! How are you feeling, generally?

@northstar: exciting that you’re doing an IUI this month! The monitoring, perfect timing, sperm wash etc. are all wonderful things… and definitely post pone jury duty if you can. You just don't need the stress. I think they give you at least one free pass to resched, right?

I’m thinking of testing tomorrow morning at 11dpiui… just because I have an appointment that morning with my RE to discuss next steps if this cycle doesn’t pan out, and I have an acupuncture appointment that evening… would like going into those appointments knowing what a pee stick said. Then on Thurs it’s off to the cabin on the lake to unplug. DH and I decided that no matter what happens, we focus on relaxing and enjoying our vacation… if I can drink, we’ll have pina coladas on the deck. Of course, I’m hoping I can’t, but I need a silver lining!

@YogiRunner: same as I feel every other cycle I actually let out a few tears yesterday for the first time in awhile, I can't even be around friends who have kids. How are you feeling? I'm leaving for vacation this week as well, and as much as I want to have an excuse not to drink, at least there's the silver lining!
