@Mae: he was really good about it since it was doctors orders but I know he's been dying inside a little lol

@Mae: yea she said it put me at a greater chance to bleed so no sex or exercise.

@Mae: I was also really crampy for a while so maybe she was being overly cautious

@mrsog: oh man, my doc said nothing about that! lol. I guess it was fine because I've never had any blood regardless of sex or exercise (um, the little exercise that I've done… heh).

@Mae: wooo list! Looks great! Thanks for doing it! Looking forward to hearing about your u/s tomorrow!
I have my appt Thursday and look forward to hearing the hb again!
re: glucose test, I didn't have to fast and got to take it home with me, was told to have it in the fridge, then time my arrival at the office with when the blood would be drawn! I am assuming it will be like this for #2! It was like McDonalds orange drink, a tad less awesome and a little more sugary (possible?) but not near as awful as others had told me it was, it was a quick enough drink, a bit of a too much sweet yuck feeling after and that was it.
@mrsog: Nice about getting to dtd again! That is always fun, lol.
I have to work til midnight (after full day in office) or so Friday, and then all day Sat for an event I'm doing, and ugh, I am going to be one dead preggo lady, I will really have to be careful to not overdo it. Trying to take one day at a time this week and make sure I get good rest in the night's.

@Mae: I get lieu time back, and my employer is super good to me in terms of daily work hours, so when stuff like this comes up I don't completely mind, or at least can't really complain!

@mae Are you second guessing your name? I saw you haven't "committed" to putting it on the due date list...
papaya / 10343 posts
@tarabonno: It isn't me, it's my husband! After over a week of him telling me to just PICK ONE already and threatening to put the names in a hat to pick, he came home from work Friday and I told him I was feeling set on Penelope June. Then he said he wasn't ready to commit! lol. It is definitely narrowed down to Penelope, Fiona, or Eva. Honestly I would be happy with any of them because I love them all. He wants to call her all three for a bit and see what feels right. So I think at this point I'm sort of waiting on him..? haha
In other news, I had 2 cousins with baby girls due this year before ours and I was feeling concerned that maybe one of them would name their girl whatever we had decided. The first was just born early today and named Kaylee Jo, so I'm out of the wood with that one

@Beebug: oh my gosh, that work schedule sounds rough. I hope you will be able to rest up on Sunday!
@Mae: All three of your choices are great! Hopefully the trial periods go well and there is a front runner afterward!
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@twodoghouse: yes! Sunday will be a major lazy day, and I won't be rushing into work Monday am!
DH needs to get to bed early for my sake tonight, his snoring lately, and over tiredness is driving me crazy. His fam drama is ongoing and not helping, but bahhhhh drives me nuts when he doesn't take care of himself and doesn't realize it impacts us!

Just about ready to head to my ultrasound and GD test! Feeling more nervous than I expected, I think I'll be happy when this morning is over Eating some pb toast so hopefully the orange drink won't make me sick!
papaya / 10343 posts
Doc appts went well! Ultrasound was great! The placenta moved up plenty and baby IS definitely a girl and looks great. 1lb. 9oz, 57 th percentile. And I passed my 1 hr glucose screen! Yay! Still waiting on my doc for my normal checkup but I don't anticipate any surprises.
kiwi / 619 posts
@Mae: yayyy! glad it went well! Did you feel nauseous at all after drinking the drink?
papaya / 10343 posts
Home again, yay Doc appointment was uneventful. She did tell me I needed to get the TDAP vaccine at the next appointment, and that my husband and anyone else who will be around the baby (so, our parents I guess) will need it too. I'm sure my husband while whine because he hates going to the doc, but if I'm pushing out this kid he can get a shot heh.
@cookie_dough: Eh, not really. I did eat before I went in (1.5 pieces of pb toast and some coffee, no sugar about 2 hrs before I drank the stuff). It honestly was not as bad as I was expecting. Just tastes like slightly sweeter flat orange pop. I was able to chug it easily in about 3 minutes and I felt maybe a little amped up half an hour later but otherwise I felt fine. At 1 hr I got a finger prick and they checked my blood sugar with one of those diabetes monitor things. It had to be under 135 or I would have to get the 3 hr test, and mine was 123. So they said that was great

Oh also! I asked my doc this appt about when we'll talk about the actual birth and whatnot. She said 36 weeks is when I should bring in a birth plan if I write one. We also had a nice talk about birth plans in general and her philosophy. She said basically that her and her partners are very committed to low intervention vaginal births, and will be completely supportive if I opt to go med free. She said she does recommend epis because in her experience they provide an overall better experience for the mom because you get a chance to rest, but that if I want to try for med free that is fine, and if I want to go in without a clear plan and just wing it that is also fine. Basically her advice was that they have lots of experience and their goal is the easiest possible birth with a healthy mom and baby and they will guide me there regardless, but if I have preferences for how some things go they will definitely respect that as best as they're medically able.

PS I forgot to mention this about the list and boy/girl/tg stuff!
In my Oct 2012 group, we had a "Part II" to our thread aside it was getting so big (like 60 pages, like us now, lol) and on the new thread the starter added a poll with the three options, and started the thread with a list.....something I thought of if we wanted to start a new thread
Crib 1 of 2 arrived, and the colour is perfect! So I called purolator already and refused the 2nd crib/back up colour and don't have to worry about getting it, then taking it to store to return, bonus!
papaya / 10343 posts
@Beebug: yay for the crib! And I'd be totally open to us starting a new thread with a poll if ppl wanted to do that
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@Mae: by no means necessary, just passing on what I think I remember we did when we got to a point of knowing gender or tg, it is still nuts to me that we are all that far along!
I am going to read your update when on computer, typing on my phone to post is fine, but reading is frustrating, lol.

@Mae: Your doc sounds awesome! Mine is sooo uninformative. I mean, if I ask the right questions, he will answer them, but he doesn't really offer up much information unless I specifically ask, and his answers are pretty short when I do!
papaya / 10343 posts
@cookie_dough: Yes I love her! She's just so… normal. She's the first doc I've ever had who like, asked me if I read any good books lately lol. Just super chatty and down to earth, so glad I found her!

@Mae: Congrats on passing the test. As for birth plan, my dr is kind of like yours and I went in with really no plan and just see how it goes. If you really think you want to go without epi I would look into different methods of dealing with the pain or redirecting or something. I didn't and was taken back by how to deal with it once labor really kicked in. The breathing just wasn't going to cut it for me. I was induced which supposedly is tougher than natural labor but either way I was unprepared. The epi was sweet relief and I anticipate getting one this time unless things progress much quicker. Also once I got the epi I went quickly from 4cm to 10cm while I napped!
papaya / 10343 posts
@sungirl: I have no idea if I want to try med-free yet, it is just something I want to consider and I wanted to hear my doc's opinions on it. If I get induced I think I'll definitely have an epi because that is definitely supposed to be worse! But yea, if I decide to try med free I will definitely research a ton of pain management techniques! And also, stay a bit flexible because I know births don't always go the way you plan!
apricot / 309 posts
@Mae: hope i didn't sound preachy or scary but i wish i would have looked into methods at least read abouut something so i wanted to pass along.
So if anyone has good info to share I'd love to hear it in case I'm lucky to go into a quick labor this time!
papaya / 10343 posts
@sungirl: no, you didn't at all! I have heard that lots of places. I don't think many people are able to go med free without a bit of prep and research before-hand! I guess what I meant by "wing it" is that if I plan to go med free I will do the work beforehand, but also that I will probably be more open to an epi if things get too complicated because I'm not in it "for the experience" at ALL. I just want to get this kid out as quickly and safely and non-traumatically as possible haha.
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@Mae: lol on your comment on "not in it for the experience" such a good way to put it! I never thought about saying it that way, but definitely my thoughts too. The experience isn't a factor to me! I was all for trying to go med free, but when I began puking thru contractions, thaaaat went out the window, ha! Sounds like you got to have a great chat with your doc and that is great to have!
@cookie_dough: have you heard about the missing teacher/runner in my area? He was a hs teacher where I went to hs, story is getting messy as per the news this afternoon.

@Mae: glad your appointment went well and placenta is moving out of the way!
DH and I are reconsidering our birth options. I've been getting more and more reports that the private hospital my doc is attached to (and where we planned to deliver) as well as my doc himself, are very c-section friendly. That worries me. We want to have a big family and I wouldn't like to know I had an unnecessary c-section because I was rushed for some reason or the other, and am therefore limited to my no of future pregnancies. I also am not a fan of surgery and recovery and all that comes with it, unless absolutely necessary.
So we're considering water birth at a very reputable birthing centre. My scare is the PAIN because meds are not given and another concern is that this centre is not super close to our home. We have an orientation session on Monday so after we get a feel for it there and get some questions answered, we may have a better idea of our direction.
kiwi / 619 posts
@Beebug: No I hadn't heard about it!!! (work has been crazy and I totally haven't been reading the news the last few days). I just read up on it...that is awful...so scary
pear / 1586 posts
Wow I am behind on this!
@Glitter: that is a tough decision! I had R with a midwife (who in part of an OB practice) in a hospital but I went med free. I was supposed to have the alternative birthing room but the maternity ward was shut down/being re-done due to funky smell when I went into labor. I only had a shower to use but found that the water helped tremendously. Thought I'd give you a positive story. DH and I took bradley method classes to prepare which we liked.
@Mae: congrats on passing! For some reason I think I will have GD this time around. Probably because I want sweets all the time. I love all your name choices too!
@sungirl: We did bradley method classes and I recommend them. Or you can google bradley exercises to get a feel. My mantra was "I can do anything for a minute". Who knows if my contractions were longer or not but telling myself that plus rocking/swivelling my hips helped the most.
@Beebug: crazy hours! DH falls asleep on the couch pretty much every night and I love it because I have an easier time falling asleep alone these days.

Morning all! I am feeling spectacularly unmotivated at work today. I'm like… doing all the little stupid things that do technically need done but aren't all that terribly important… just to sort of feign productivity, while totally ignoring the one big glaring (annoying) project I really need to start on. Boooooo. lol

@Mae: I am forcing myself to be busy bc we are in the middle of negotiations on this co-op and I just keep staring at my phone. I need to get my mind on other things!
