I'm a fairly regular poster here but made this post anonymous because I don't want anyone in my family to catch on to our names prior to the birth.
DH and I are having such a difficult time deciding between two names. Our last name is spanish and pretty long. I would appreciate any feedback and I'm open to other suggestions too. Thanks!

Just want to make sure I have the correct pronunciation for Talia. Without your note about it, I'd assume it was "TALL-ya." But is the emphasis supposed to be like "Tall-EE-ya" (like rhymes with former supreme court justice Scalia, I guess, ha)? Sorry, just hard to tell with the all caps!

I love Talia Winter, however it doesn't pass the resume test to me. Given that your last name is ethnic her first name may not need to be super resume/adult friendly.

@magnolia: True, every last name is tied to an ethnicity, but a Joseph Smith may get a call back for a job interview faster than a Joseph Suarez.
ETA: my last name (maiden & married) is not tied to my actual ethnicity.

I like both but voted Talia. My only concern is it sounds like a nickname.

I like both, but chose willow because I feel like half the people will mispronounce talia- I knew a tall-ya first so that's what I always think. Willow is perfectly easy to spell and pronounce so it wins for me. But both are nice!

I like the sound of Talia the way you want to pronounce it, but I would've pronounced it differently (more like Tall-ya). I'm not a fan of giving kids first names that will have a high occurrence of having to be explained and pronounced and spelled out.

Beautiful names. Also, I don't see a huge difference between taleeaa and tal-ya pronunciation, so that wouldn't bother me! The "ya" version just sounds like a faster version of the first pronunciation. You can't go wrong!

I voted Willow. I do like Talia, but I always hear it pronounced Tah-lee-yah, and its too close to being gen-i-talia.

I like Talia better than Willow. Willow is a bit too hippy for me. I've had a few Talias as students over the past 3 years.
