Need help brainstorming baby names

Hello! My husband and I will be TTC very soon and are brainstorming baby names. I need the baby names to start with certain letters to honor relatives that have passed away. Our last name is common and ends in -er.

Letters I need to use are:
C, M, or R.
Please help me brainstorm names! I definitely want use the C for a first or middle name.
These are names that I like so far: Madelyn (girl), Riley (girl), Carter (boy), Max (boy).
Side note, Does Carter ----er (our last name) sound funny?

C:Boys: Cash, Camden, Cain, Cole, Cale
C Girls: Cameron, Cassidy, Clara/Claire, Cali, Carly

M Girls: Mia, Mila, Maya, Maddie, Matilda, Menna/Mena

I'm totally into names, but it might help to have a little more guidance. Do you have an era that you prefer? Modern names? Resurgent names? Trendy or timeless? Certain sounds?

-The er er thing can work in very specific situations. You can talk to bee @Princessbaby: about that particular combo

Carter was on our boy list too and we have an -er last name. We ended up having a girl but a boy would have been Carter or Carson. Do you like Carson?

Thank you for the great suggestions! Some of those names were on my short list that I have and I add some.

@Mrs. Jacks- I tend to like modern, trendy names but would love to find an uncommon name that isn't too out-there. I think that Carter might work for a middle name but I'm beginning to think it might sound too rhyming for a first name. I need to find a boy's first name I love! I like Max but Max Carter doesn't sound right. My husband doesn't like Maxwell. It's easier for me to find girls names that I like than boys names.

@Mamamoose- Carson is on my list too! I love the name Carter more though.

@Goldendoodle: We also have a last name that ends in -er and we decided to nix all names ending in -er. I have heard some that sound ok together but we just decided it was too rhyme for us.

I haven't looked at this site too much, but a friend posted about it on facebook. You can put in names you like and it generates more ideas for you.

- Must/Can't start with
- Must/Can't end with (can put in -er)
- Min/Max Length
- Min/Max syllables

and then filter by style/popularity.

Wow thanks for all the great responses! This is all really helpful!!! I am looking forward to bouncing these names off of my husband. We are both really excited!

@ladyfingers- I looked at nameberry last night and I think I need to look more into that website. Seems like there's a lot of suggestions on there.

@thehistoryofus- I think that might be a good idea to nix the -er names. I just love Carter so much, wondering if it would work for a middle name. Thank you for the suggestions! I like Coltin and Camden and added those to my list! I also had Camryn on it. I do like Ryan Carter, never thought of that one! I am going to check out babynamewizard now! Boys names are so difficult when you have to stick to certain letters!Thanks so much!!
