You could do a twilight turtle, they come on lots of other animals too. They do turn off after 45 minutes but it's so easy to turn on that it would be easy for her to turn it back on if need be- especially since you have a nightlight already.

It does give some light but not enough to disrupt sleep. LO got it for her 3rd birthday and it has been a hit!

DS has the turtle and DD has the lady bug. They love them!

We have the Baby Einstein Sea Dreams Soother for my 2 year old daughter and the Fisher Price Rainforest Peekaboo Soother for my six week old son (both are the aquarium looking things).

My daughter loves her "fishies" and will turn it on throughout the night whenever she wakes up and needs comfort. I also use the sound of it to tell me when she's up for the day. However, we are on our second unit as the first one started making a grinding sound and the animals stopped moving. This second one has also stopped moving, but the grinding sound isn't there, so we're not looking to replace it just yet.

My son is too young to turn on his soother on his own, but at this point I don't like it as much as I like "fishies" for a few reasons: 1. it doesn't play as long as "fishies" does, 2. it stops rather abruptly - "fishies" has a cool down feature where the light dims and then shuts off while the sounds continue to play, 3. it isn't easily removed from the side of the crib, so it will be more difficult to do battery changes ("fishies" has a quick release feature which allows you to take it off the crib without removing the strap from the side of the crib - great for middle of the night emergency battery replacements).

We have both the turtle and the other one by cloudb and my older one loves the Octo nightlight one. It stays on for 45 minutes and she'll turn it on throughout the night if she wakes up. We have a disco ball with stars, my son saw it at home depot and had to have it.

It was $20 and we have it on one of those Christmas light things so he can control it with his remote control.

We have a classic lava lamp! It doesn't project but creates a lovely colourful glow in the room, and is a nice amount of light for sleeping. He can't control it from bed though, we just leave it on all the time.
