@kml636: Doctor found white spots in her mouth. We've been prescribed a purple powder to put on my .nipples and treat us both at the same time.

@Mrs. Tricycle: My mom is coming over at least once a week to help me with whatever. Last week she held the fussy baby so that I could eat lunch, do dishes, and a few loads of laundry. Today baby slept for the first two hours she was here (in his crib!) so we just hung out and read books, had lunch, etc. Later on we took him to run some errands including returning some hideous clothes to Osh Kosh. My FIL bought them and they were ugly, too big, and the wrong season when he would fit into them. We also stopped by CVS so I could pick up prescriptions. I went in alone and it was the farthest I have been away from him ever.

How is everyone feeling about visitors? We have had a steady stream, like one a day. It's nice but overwhelming! It gives me something to structure my day around and it's nice when they bring food but I'm starting to get weary...

We were/are social people but its just now clicking in my head how different it will be with all our friends that don't have kids!

@kml636: we had visitors last wk.but none this wk. Always just one or two ppl at a time. It's been nice to have the break this wk.

@mrs. Tricycle: my mom's been staying w us during the week and going to work from.our place. Last wk she took a few days off and was here day/night. She's been an angel. Cooking, cleaning, helping me w LO. I couldn't have done it wo her or dh.

We got back from the pedi at 4. Fed him and all 3 of us napped for an hour. Fed him again and he slept.for another hour and a half or so. Fed him again at 7ish and now nursi g him again.... hope he goes down until 2am...

Pedi told us to try and feed him every four hrs. After his two month check in Jan is when we can let him sleep thru if he so chooses~

    Hope everyone gets sleep tonight!

@kml636: that's awesome that you'll have that flexibility w work! I was just curious, ill be staying home and felt like I'd read most everyone else was going back to work

@mamamoose totally jinxed myself he was happy to just chill tonite instead of working his neck muscles ha!

@mrstricycle that's so great she does that! We're far from family until we move but my moms coming next week to help us move. I'm excited to have another hand!

Lactation consult today was good and I fee more confident. We weighed him with his sleeper and cloth diaper on and he was just over eight lbs.. So it's safeto say minus clothes and diaper he's over his birth weight , yay!! Love seeing little rolls come on to his legs.

Going to hit up target for a more structured nursing bra this weekend I can't wait!

So yesterday the doc said that at 1 month old and weighing 8lb 10oz we could let A sleep through the night! We got....3 hours. Lol. On the plus side, the prescription cream they gave us for diaper rash is amazeballs. It looks so much better and we only applied it for the first time at 10pm. Yay!

  12. travelgirl1

    cantaloupe / 6630 posts

Has anyone else had problems with diaper rash?

  13. mrsjyw

    GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts

@travelgirl1: we noticed a small red spot so we dabbed a lil desitin on it last night... not sure if it's a dipe rash or his sensitie skin... gkad to hear that the prescription cream worked for A!

Well I broke the 4 hr rule... Lo slept from midnight to six am... and I slet rt through... omg do I feel refreshed from yest. Just had a long nursing session and now he's sound asleep in my arms. Just gave me a sweet smile too (gas?) .....

Nursing is going well for the most part. I have a lower supply in my left due to flat nip/nip shield/ nursing more on rt... just pumped an 1oz out of it after feeding on the rt for 45min+.... need to work on balance feeding more...

When do you guys pump? That was the first time I found energy or time to pump since at least a few days ago. And only because the ither 4oz is frozen and I need an emergency bottle in the fridge fir dh!

How often are you guys bathing? We've been doing every other day... A's skin is still peling from overbaking... and dh cut his nails a cpl days ago!

@mrsjyw: I used ti pump straight after a feed but now it's more if I miss a feed because she's eating what I pumped earlier, or if I feel particularly full and she's sleeping. We bath her every other day.

Good job on all that sleep, I'm sooo jealous!

  15. SLR

    clementine / 824 posts

@mrsjyw: I've been feeding her on one side for several hours to try and control how fast/how much she is getting and then pumping enough on the other side enough to that I'm not going to explode. I'm probably pumping about 6-8oz per day.

As for baths, the doc told us 2x per week is all that is needed at this point, so that's what we have been doing. If she spits up on herself or goes #1 or #2 mid-diaper change, we do a small wipedown of that area. She got a bath last night and still hates it just as much as the times before. I hope when her cord falls off and we can get her more wet w/ warm water, she'll relax a bit more.

    clementine / 824 posts

@travelgirl1: Em's tush was bright red for a couple days. It was right after we ran out of the sensitive wipes and opened a pack we were given that were scented of some kind and right after her last appt. when the doc put some triple paste on it. So, I figured it was one of the two that caused it. We stopped using the scented wipes and it seems have gotten better.

@mrsjyw: I'm supposed to pump after every feeding, but its impossible. I do try and pump about 6 or 7 times a day but with her latch issues I'm glad to do it so she still gets the breastmilk.

We've done one bath at home so far although yesterday I wetted down some wash cloths with soap and water and did a little sponge bath

  18. kml636

@mrsjyw: wow, I'm jealous enjoy your sleep! LO is so sleepy when she wakes to feed at night age never gets enough so I may try the night time bottle as Mrs. Stroller recently described.

@highwire: I hear you, our UPS guy ought to love me.. I get SO much off Amazon

@mrsjyw we're bathing for the second time tonight; so twice a week? no diaper rash in cloth, but he turns bright red with a swaddler on trying a different brand today so we can use disposables during the move.

I asked the lactation lady about when the best time to pump was and she said everyone produces more milk in the morning, and recommended feeding one side and pumping the other. I can't wait to get moved and build up a little stash for emergencies or when I want to go out! I just ordered a larger flange after having her look at mine, it was a little too snug so I'm hoping the bigger barrel will result in a more efficient session.

@mrsjyw: I'm bathing every other day. I desperately need to do her nails but I'm scared!

Trying to pump one bottle a day... In the morning after she feeds. Yesterday I barely got 2 oz.

    honeydew / 7687 posts

also, we had another 4.5 sleep chunk last night.. AMAAZING! I know it could change in a heartbeat and we'll sway back and forth but... for today.. I feel like I could run a marathon! And he's definitely back up over his birth weight of 7 7 oz since he weighed a little over 8 lbs with clothes on, was 7 3oz last Thursday naked which is awesome!

for those of you who are freezing, have you thawed & tried it out?? I read on another thread about excess lipase making milk soapy so I'm going to thaw my one little baggie and make sure it doesn't have/do that... I'd hate to build it up and have it be inedible!

@mrsjyw: I haven't even attempted pumping yet. I was going to start in the mornings since M was only taking one side. The last 2 days since been taking both, and eating like crazy so I haven't even attempted it.

We've had a rough night the last 2 nights. M has been cluster feeding like crazy and is inconsolable overnight. All she wants to do is eat! She's gaining weight at a good rate I know I'm producing enough milk. I'm hoping her sleep improves soon, my husband goes back to work on Monday and I know I'll have to pick up more of the baby care overnight.

@scg00387: we've tried one thawed bottle and it was fine
.. we only had it frozen for a day or two...not sure if that matters.

I've pumped 2.5 oz today. Between multiple feedings in both breasts. If I can pump 4-5 oz a day I'll be happy...

Going to run a cpl errands shortly... need more dipes!!!!

@scg00387: we thawed a bottle with no problem recently. I noticed no difference from bottles that had only been refrigerated and then reheated.

I think I could be pumping a lot more if I tried. I just get so lazy about it. LO often nurses for 30 minutes and then I have to keep her upright for 30 minutes to battle reflux. So my hands are pretty full and every feeding session already takes an hour and if I add pumping to every session it would be a freaking full time job! Hopefully once her digestive system gets a little more mature we can put her down right after eating and it won't be as time consuming so I can pump more.

How's everyone doing today? I can't believe how normal I've felt the last two days...but I'm paranoid about it slipping away and feeling all out of sorts again.

Nursing is still 2 steps forward, 1 step back, but we will soldier on...DH has to leave really early for work tomorrow so ill have to take care of an extended night duty. But, I have no plans or appointments tomorrow so I plan on getting in some extra naps. My in laws are coming back this weekend so we will have some extra hands in the house! So excited to see them and get some extended time with DH (hopefully in bed in the form of sleep and messing around in some way lol)

My doula just came by for our post partum visit. She kept a detailed timeline of labor and delivery and I'm excited to read it and finally write up the birth story.

Drove into town and saw a friend this morning and then brought the baby to DHs office and had lunch with him. It was great.

@highwire: last night was another tough one for us but today has been great. Hubs has been working (from home) most of today so I've been managing baby duty mostly solo. And I still managed to get a shower and get tons of laundry done!

I had my postpartum appointment today with my OB. Everything seems to be healing well. She even took me off one of my blood pressure medications because my blood pressure was 100/60. I'm now cleared for working out (she said to take it easy) and sex. I'm not sure when I will actually feel up to either of those, but it was good to get a green light medically. She was also willing to write my return to work note for 10 weeks rather than the standard 8 for a cesarean. I still won't go back for a while after that, but it is better for my pay and benefits.

@highwire: so glad to hear you had a great day! We were ambitious and went to the city 90 mins away... Did some shopping and had dinner and I even had a beer! It's a lot more complicated w/ LO but I'm just glad we are getting out.

@kml636: impressive!!!! We took LO to the grocery store yesterday and I was terrified some one would breath on her. I think we are still far from a restaurant outing. But we have friends coming over with dinner shortly and I think I'll have a glass of wine with them. Yay!

@kml636: Right on! It's hard to get out and that sounds like a great date I went out alone with LO to the grocery store yesterday and made it until the checkout line with no fussing!
Then today I met my friends for lunch out. Six of us were all due within a month of each other and we finally got to meet everyone's babies and catch up since birth. Lots of fun and we all had newborns so I wasn't nervous about crying or fussiness. I even nursed in public for the first time Big day for us!
And now my parents are on their way into town to meet her fir the first time!! Excited and nervous. We only have a long weekend together so I wan to see them as much as possible but I worry I will get overtired or not take care of myself enough.

@highwire: I totally hear you about feeling "normal" but being worried about it slipping away again. LO had a rough night last night and I got almost zero sleep - was worrying about spiraling down again, but it's been a tear-free realitively optimistic day - so maybe we are over the worst of it!

We had a "hot date" today, too. The grandma fairy was here, so DH and I left her in charge of LO while we picked out new glasses for him and went grocery shopping. It was nice to get out alone together!

Ya'll are adventurous. I haven't even considered leaving the house with M and without my husband, and she's 11 days old. We've been to the doctors office as a family a few times (2x for her, 1x for me), but that's it. Husband runs the errands or they wait in the car while I run in and grab something. If M was sleeping more, I think I'd be more up for it. I think I have the only newborn ever who hates sleep. I counted yesterday and she only slept about 12 hours.

  40. immabeetoo

    honeydew / 7687 posts

@petuniasandpearls: you're not alone! I went out by myself and am happy to do so, but I'm not sure when I'll go out just with him. I hate the carseat - it is so heavy and the weather is so cold!

@highwire I feel the same way - we've had 2 days of amazing night & day sleep and I find myself anxious as late night approaches because I'm sure it can't happen again!

I tried on a bunch of my clothes today trying to prepare for our move... things fit but.. look different My gigantic chest is definitely throwing off proportions. On the plus side, I got this a bravado nursing bra from Amazon that had rave reviews and it is amazing!!
