Another post made me think about this. My daughter had surgery this week and was weighed and measured. She's a little over 37 inches and weighs 35.5 lbs which puts her BMI in the overweight range (at 32 months). This startled me - our pediatrician has never looked at BMI and has never seemed concerned with her weight. She's always been a big kid; she's never lower than 80th percentile in weight/height and she looks huge compared to other kids her age. I just assumed this was a genetic thing (DH and I are both tall) and she'd outgrow it with age.

Neither my husband or I are overweight, although many members of our family are. We eat healthy, don't eat out, and offer my daughter healthy choices. Dessert happens very rarely and we don't let her eat unhealthy snacks. She is an extremely picky eater, though, and pretty much never eats veggies/meat.

I don't really know what I'm looking for with this post - does anyone have experience with this? Should I be concerned or is this probably something she will outgrow? I know as an overweight kid she's more likely to be overweight as an adult and I kind of feel like a failure right now.
