We need to pick a color for the exterior of our house - we are getting new fiber cement siding so we can paint it any color. Out of these four colors - do you think one looks better than the other? Also any recommendations for what color door with A, B, or C? We like the idea of a bright color but I am not sure if that will work with A, B, and C.
DH's concern with D is a dark exterior may lead to higher power bills in the summer.

B is my favorite. Can you use D as the door or maybe shutters color? A peachy coral (opposite blue on the color wheel) or light moss green (next to blue on the color wheel) would be nice too as the door.

I prefer D and depending where you live, maybe the dark color would help with keeping the house warmer in winter to offset the higher summer cooling costs? I would love a bright red door with any of them!

@MamaG: Our roof is black and we plan to keep the trim white. Our next door neighbor's house is a light blue grey but it is overdue for a paint job. Our other neighbors face the perpendicular street to ours (their backyard and side are closest to us) and there houses are dark dark green and dark blue.

@Jackiedavis87: Me too - I love a dark blue house with a bright red door! DH says if we lived somewhere it didn't get so hot in the summer he wouldn't hesitate to go with it.

D. We just painted our house last year. Honestly the others look really bright for a main color. If you want to do a lighter color I'd check out a blue/grey.

We did more of a smokey blue and I wish I had gone closer to the Navy. Dark houses also do show fade more though too.

I like B! It is a gray blue but lighted than the dark one. I think it would look fab with white trim. I would do a black or red door.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: thank you for the suggestions! We will look at a moss color for the door. I like coral too but there is no way DH would go for that.
@youboots: thank you for pointing out the brightness! We are looking more at blue gray/gray blue.
@T.H.O.U.: thank you for the photo! I think I would prefer a navy too but we decided tonight to go with a lighter color hoping for lower ac bill and not fading as fast is also a plus.

I like the dark blue, with white trim and a red door! There is a house painted like that a few streets over and I loooovvvvveeee it. No idea how their heating/cooling costs work out since they've painted the house darker.

D! Definitely not A imo. A already looks baby bluish to me, and it will only be magnified on the whole house (unless that's what you're going for). My neighbors actually had a dark blue, not as dark as D, and new owners went for a lighter blue and I think it's much worse than before (though I think theirs is definitely more baby blueish than the 3 you have)

All of this feedback has been very helpful. I am sending DH back to Sherwin Williams to look for a lighter version of B and possibly C. Dark blue is my favorite (and clearly a lot of people like it) but we are still looking to go with a lighter blue gray. There is a new build in our neighborhood that is a neutral gray green that we like but have not been able to find. If the owners were outside I'd ask them about the paint color but I have not seen them. We have 4 days to pick a color.

@autumnleaves: which color did you end up going with??? Also, if you haven't chosen yet and still wanted to ask your neighbors, maybe stick a note in their mailbox?

@Mrs. Oreo: we are going with a lighter version of B. We had SW lighten it up. And I think we are going with a yellow (daffodil) door.
