Do you put any stock into pregnancy superstitions?
Chinese people tend to be very superstitious when it comes to pregnancy and well everything!
I desperately need a haircut and wanted to get one when we were in Toronto for the day. My brother told me absolutely not! It's not allowed and to not even bring it up to my mom or she will yell at me. 
I'm thinking about sneaking one in next week. LOL She won't see me till July and it won't be noticeable then that I got a haircut.

Def sneak one in lol. My family doesn't have any superstitions, thankfully! I know someone wasn't allowed to go any funerals while pregnant.

I did the Chinese gender prediction thing for fun, but I don't put much stock in superstition stuff.

no. although I have a general superstition against lying about health which I feel extra strong about with regards to pregnancy. I.e. I don't fake sick because I feel like it is tempting fate. So I also haven't used my pregnancy as an excuse to get out of things I don't legit need out of because it seems like bad karma/tempting something to actually go wrong.

I got out of watching anything scary or gross because it's superstition that it's bad for the baby! hehe

@snowjewelz: oh yes, I follow that one! I also won't go to cemeteries while pregnant. I know, I don't make sense. But that one is tempting the life of your child. 
And only because I'm not 100% convinced ghosts do or do not exist!

Nope, but my parents made me follow them anyway. With both pregnancies, we moved homes so I was not allowed to be involved in the actual move at all. They never mentioned the not cutting hair though.

@mrs. wagon: well I'm screwed then because horror movies are my fav and DH and I do/host scary movie Fridays every week of October each year! I was in my 1st trimester then and we totally kept up the tradition! lol. Also I

@locavore_mama: My hair is so totally insane right now but I'm 37+ weeks and at this point I can definitely hold out! I didn't know this was a Chinese thing, but a Turkish friend of mine told me it's a superstition there, so I figured why mess with it.
I did attend a funeral, though (and there were 3 other preggos there!) DH felt a little funny about it, like the baby might be reminded of the other side and head back, but apparently it was okay!

I attended a funeral pregnant, no one looked at me funny, never knew that was a thing? I'm not really superstitious though.

I'm not superstitious but I don't really like telling people what the baby's name will be or referring to the child by name until its born.

People freak out over here if you wear a closed lei. Because it represents the cord wrapped around the baby. So u never give apreggo lady a closed lei. I never knew that until I was preggers over here and someone put a closed lei on me at the baby shower. They practically ripped it off and stepped on it

I'm very superstitious. I won't buy any clothes/furniture/gear for the baby until he's here, so definitely no baby shower. I know we have to get a car seat/stroller, but they will stay in the box until the last possible second. I also won't share the name (mostly because I don't want to hear peoples opinions...) and we don't refer to the baby by it. And, even though the majority of my friends buy stuff ahead of time, most of them won't go to the cemetery part of a funeral.
