I'm expecting #2 in a few weeks and it's been about 4 years since I've needed to know what is the latest and greatest in baby gear.
I just received a list of eligible breast pumps insurance will cover. What is your recommendation based on this list:

@Honeydew: Medela pump in style was covered with my i surance too but I paid the extra $75 with mine for the extra motor and travel bag for work!

I had the Medela PISA last time (3+ years ago) and it was fine but I had nothing to compare it to.
My BFF has a 1yo and she initially got the PISA. She was much more committed to pumping than I was, so she did research and decided to go out of pocket on the Spectra S2. She said it was night and day difference. She loved it. So I just ordered one for DS2.

I just met with the LC from our hospital and she recommended the Spectra S2. Not sure that my insurance will cover it, but that’s what I would go for!

@jhd: I just ordered this one as well. I'm expecting #3 and have used the PISA for my last two and, although it worked fine, I read the reviews and it looks like the Spectra S2 has stronger suction so I figured I would give it a try. I still have my old one if it doesn't end up working out.

I had a PISA for my first two and it was fine. I went with the Spectra this time. I did prefer it, but after 5 months, it just stopped working (like wouldn't even turn on). I'm back to using my old PISA for now.

I loved my Spectra S2 for pumping at work. It's a little bulky, but so quiet and efficient. I plan to get the Spectra 9 Plus this time around, it's tiny (size of a large cell phone) and can run on battery for pumping on the go.

I've used
Hygiea - great! You can use Medela accessories with it if those are easier to get when you need extras/replacements. The OEM flanges screw directly onto ThinkBaby and Lansinoh mOmma bottles.
PISA - fine, but a little less customizable speed/power than Hygiea
Spectra S9 - did NOT like at all. I couldn't find a speed/power combination that worked especially well for me, it is very loud despite being fairly small, and the flanges are really bulky compared to the Medela/Hygeia ones...so it is less portable than the size of the pump itself woud make it seem.
