@sarahnicole218: Nice!! Do you guys BD today as well, or do you abstain? I'm not sure if the RE will recommend IUI or not, so I'm not too knowledgeable about them yet!

  7. Miss Sarah

    persimmon / 1259 posts

@dc yoga bee: We have been instructed to abstain 2-3 days. We did cave and BD Thursday night (on my fifth day of flashing smileys), so it worked out perfectly. We'll probably BD tomorrow night if I'm not cramping too horribly. I haven't done an IUI before, so I'm not sure what to expect.

Can you share what you did differently this month?

  18. GoGoSnoGirl

    pear / 1558 posts

@Crystal: honestly, I thought this cycle was not a very good one, because O snuck up on me & we only got 2 BD sessions in around O (-2,-1 based on FF, but based on my opks I thought it was going to be -1, & O). Now the trick will just be STAYING pregnant.

Anyone else have a poas date coming up?? @MamaCate: ?

@GoGoSnoGirl: I forgot to update that I got AF on Friday. No surprise as we had less than ideal timing. This weekend is the anniversary if our positive test a year ago so I am just trying to keep my head down and get through it...

@GoGoSnoGirl: Not faint at all! Congrats!!

Well, my IUI was yesterday after two solid smileys on Saturday (they stay on the screen for 48 hours, but I had two tester sticks, so I tested a second time). It was a bit uncomfortable, I won't lie. My cervix wasn't open, so she first used this stuff that made me cramp a bunch to try to get it to relax and when that still didn't work, she used this little clamp thing to keep it open. Ouch!

I'm trying not to over analyze, but why the heck wasn't it open? Isn't it supposed to be before ovulation? Also, my temps haven't done what I expected them to do, but I'm tempted to stop temping all together and just go with it. Our outside temperatures have changed drastically in Iowa over the last week and the temp inside my house has gone from like 74-76 to 62-64. I don't know if that could change my BBT, but I have definitely bundled up more in bed.

Ugh, this is all so stressful! I guess I just hope I truly did ovulate. Unfortunately, I've had my body gear up to and not actually do it thanks to my PCOS and it would be super disappointing not to have O'd since we just spent the money on the IUI.

@GoGoSnoGirl: OMG, congratulations! So happy for you!

CD6 here, and first cycle on femara. I know the side effects aren't SUPPOSED to be bad, but it I've been having HA, nausea, dizziness, bloating (I have gained 6 pounds in the past 4 days), and when we went kayaking, my arms felt so weak that DH tied my kayak to his to give me a break. On the upside, DH has been super sweet, and I'm off work today. The new job is going well, and the four day work week is fabulous. Depending on when I O, I might get to test on our anniversary. I told DH I only want one thing for our anniversary, and he instantly knew what it was.

@sarahnicole218: thank you! I hope your IUI will be successful, even if your body is confusing you...

@AmeliaBedilia: I'm sorry you haven't felt well on femara, but at least you have a day off to relax. Hope you can poas & get a BFP as an anniversary gift!

If this is our sticky baby, we'll be due the day after our anniversary... Which sadly was also the date of our 1st m/c. Would be so great to have more to celebrate during that time.

I stopped using OPKs a while ago since I almost always O on CD15. With the femara, I am thinking I should do them. The problem is that I work til about 5:30, and the work bathrooms are stalls. How would you handle this? Will FMU and immediately when I get home (around 6) work?

  25. GoGoSnoGirl

    pear / 1558 posts

@AmeliaBedilia: I think it should be ok to test at the times you suggested. I only use fmu & think at least when coupled with temping I've gotten good enough info from that. If you can test twice a day, you should be able to just use opks, I'll bet. I kinda wondered about poas at work, too. I read for my RE clinic they want you to test at a particular time (like between 1 & 3p, maybe it was) when on their protocol for IUI. That would've been challenging, but I'd figure it out somehow, I guess. Good !

@GoGoSnoGirl: congrats!! hope you have an uneventful 9 months!!
@sarahnicole218: that sounds stressful! it is so hard not to second guess and over-analyze! Hopefully this IUI works for you and you don't have to worry about this for next time, when I have had IUIs I have been monitored via ultrasound and triggered ovulation with an HCG shot, so there is a very specific window for ovulation, which helps me to be more relaxed and confident in our timing. Not sure if that is an option for you just wanted to share my experience
@AmeliaBedilia: sorry you are not feeling well on the femara I have successfully poas in the stalls at work, it was tricky but I brought all supplies in in a discreet makeup bag, dipped the test, threw away the cup in the sanitary disposal, and then brought the opk back out with me in my bag to read the results at my desk. felt very stealth but hey we've got to do what we've got to do!

AFM just started my femara last night on CD6, which is very late for me but my bloodwork was showing elevated estrogen levels so I had to wait for them to drop. not sure what that means, but now I will be on femara days 6-10 (instead of 3-7) and going in for monitoring next week on CD 14. will be interesting to see how the delayed femara start will affect my O date

@sarahnicole218: fx for you! Hoping this is the lucky cycle for you!

@AmeliaBedilia: I have no advice on opks because I haven't used them but I hope your symptoms become easier to manage as your body adjusts. Glad the new job is working out well! I am only a few days behind you and our anniversaries must be close if you might test on your anniversary. Mine is the second Saturday in October. When is yours?

  28. Miss Sarah

Thank you all for your input and support. I'm just going to trust the process. There is no reason my body shouldn't have ovulated with the Clomid since I've been ovulating on my own this summer. I have had post-o symptoms the past 24 hours so it is what is. If I did ovulate the day before my iui (since my cervix was closed), at least we BD O-2. I just have to let go and let God. I'm planning a bottle of expensive wine if AF shows in 10-12 days.

Thanks for all the replies! I'm breaking the two day silence.

CD9 on my first femara cycle. Last night was the first night I didn't take femara, and side effects are starting to diminish. Our plan for the rest of the cycle is frequent BD, and trying not to stress.

It has been quiet around here! I will take my last round (ever) of femara tonight, then then will go in for monitoring next week, IUI will probably be Thurs or Fri. This is the last one for us and then if this doesnt work we will be taking some time off to consider IVF. Trying to prepare emotionally for that possibility, as I tend to think that if the first 2 IUIs didnt work there is no reason to put a lot of stake in this 3rd one.

@AmeliaBedilia: glad that your side effects are fading!

@sarahnicole218: how are you feeling? hope you are able to stay busy during your 2ww!

@ttcgirl: I'm feeling good...my days are busy since I'm subbing now, so that's helping to distract me. To be honest, I'm just not thinking much about it. I put my thermometer away after confirming O and I'm not really feeling like this is the cycle for us. Oh well, at least I'm not stressed! Fx for your IUI!

@ttcgirl: I'm in the same boat. About to call for CD3 appointment for IUI #3. I know the RE initially mentioned doing 3-4 before moving on so that's in the back of my head too.

@AmeliaBedilia: glad to head side effects are starting to wane for you! Sounds like you have a good plan moving forward!

@ttcgirl: hoping this is the lucky cycle for you! Fx!

@sarahnicole218: glad to hear you aren't too distracted and hoping you will be pleasantly surprised. I can totally understand not getting hopes up though.

@LindsayInNY: wishing you so much luck this cycle!

As for me, I am on cd8. Happily this is my first Friday not working since I just cut back to 30 hours so i am getting things done and wanted to catch up here. I feel pretty numb to the whole ttc process at the moment--I got KU a year ago but here we are. Trying to be patient but mostly trying not to think about it. Not too optimistic about this cycle either as DH has a crazy schedule and I have a girls weekend planned right around what looks like our window, although who knows. It is just hard to believe the wait has been this long and is still going...

  39. Miss Sarah

    persimmon / 1259 posts

@MamaCate: I feel so numb to it anymore too! Feb/March of 2013 seems so long ago, and it's just been the same ol' same ol' on the TTC front. Never seen a BFP, and starting to feel like it probably isn't going to happen. On the positive side though, not having children yet allowed us to work through some pretty major marriage issues. Also, we've moved on to the intervention steps of TTC, which at least is something different than the past year and a half.

    Happy Friday ya'all.

P.S. @AmeliaBedilia: I am soooo glad your side effects have started to subside! Good luck to you, of course!!

@LindsayInNY: we really are in the same boat, I am also in NY! (and wine ) Hopefully IUI #3 does the trick for you. Are you doing medicated cycles? How do you feel about the IUI process? It is pretty painless for me but my poor husband gets so stressed about "making his deposit" haha

@GoGoSnoGirl: thank you! How are you feeling?

@MamaCate and @sarahnicole218: I so know what you guys mean, at this point I am so sick of thinking about ttc, it is so consuming and having also never seen a bfp it is hard to even get my hopes up at the end of each cycle. I try to think of the positives like all of the things we have freedom to do now with no kids, and I also hope that someday when we are through this and have our family, we will look back and understand why it had to take so long and happen however it happens
