Our dd seems to have a preference for spitting up when dh is holding her. In the past week he can think of 15 or so times when she's thrown up on his clothes or skin and I can't think of any. Just now I was holding her, vomit-free, and gave her to dh while I moved clothes from the washer to dryer. Before I finished she threw up all over his arm. Of course I think this is at least somewhat amusing, but promised I'd look for an answer. So has anyone else been in a similar situation? Or have any ideas except bad luck? Dd is 5 months old in case that's helpful.

Haha, I have no advice. I would totally find that hilarious and think that with all you went through to have the baby, the least daddy can do is handle a little spit-up. I think DH would find it amusing as well.

Is it possible he holds her more or less upright than you do? Bounces her more?
I too would find this very amusing. Just make sure he's always wearing machine washable clothes when he takes her.

I'm amused as well, and it's not even my husband! I would second paying attention to how he's holding her, and possibly the timing of it. Like if you tend to hand her off right after feedings or something.

@Foodnerd81: @Torchwood: we did talk about that and he does hold her upright more often then me. And the timing doesn't really seem to be a factor.
Our other thought is smell maybe? But I'm not sure if that's possible.

we had the same thing happen when our LOs were little... in the end we realized it was because DH was holding the baby higher, upright, with the baby's belly close to his shoulder and it was pushing a bit on baby's belly. when he was super careful not to let baby's belly get squished the spitting up completely stopped :). haha... might not be your case, but worth a try?

I'm sure it has something to do with position (although upright is better). Does he somehow push in her stomach? Move around too much? Play?

@Mrs Green Grass: he does play with her more often, so that could be it. Although it will happen at times before they've really had a chance to play.

My LO used to do the same thing with my husband, except with peeing! Never did figure it out...

My LO peed and pood on my DH alllll the time and rarely if ever on me haha not helpful in determining what's causing your baby to vomit but funny, none the less.

My LO almost always spit up on me and never DH...although I usually held him facing in and DH preferred to hold him facing out, so maybe it was because of pressure on his belly. LO did prefer to pee on his daddy, though
