LO is 15 months and was diagnosed with strep yesterday. Right now she's on third dose of antibiotic. She seems in more pain today than yesterday. Screaming tantrums - epic ones. She writhes in my arms and pulls away and seeks the floor, then bashes head on floor. Scary. She woke up from nap and cried / screamed immediately but when I tried to pick her up she writhed until I put her on ground then crawled warp speed screaming across the living room and almost straight into a table!! (Oh and this is how she's woke up each time since last night: crying immediately and tantruming) When I called pediatrician earlier they said to increase dose on Tylenol/ibuprofen (am alternating ) because she's almost 24lbs, and if she's like this all night to bring her in Saturday morning. They also asked how I knew the pain was from throat (??? Recent strep diagnosis?) .. Anyway I told my DH if she had another episode even with higher dosage I'd go to ER. He tries to look at things objectively and thinks we should wait until morning because 1) "the pediatricians don't seem worried and didn't suggest ER" 2) this is her first real time being sick and it freaks her out , 3) I may be overreacting because it's my first time dealing with strep baby and 4) they'll subject her to tests in ER and she will be exposed to other infectious horrors.

Sigh. So is this a normal pain reaction to strep? Also: no rashes!
