DS1 recently turned 2 and also has started to throw fits when we want him to ride in his stroller. We had to carry him home today half way through our neighborhood walk.
If you've dealt with stroller tantrums, is it a phase - does your little one eventually start liking to ride in the stroller again or is it the end of using the stroller?

It better not be the end of the stroller... Lo is 19 months and lo2 is due any day, there is no way we will even make it to the park if he doesn't ride. But i can not get him in there if he doesn't want to go. So many snack bribes....
All this is to say, I feel your pain.

My guess is it's a phase. Mine didn't refuse the stroller, but did the same thing around the same time with her car seat. It was maddening, but needless to say, was not the end of the car seat!

My daughter had a stroller hating phase of about a month and then switched to always wanting to ride. She would cry when she saw the stroller in the trunk if we didn't put her in it!
Now it's just a matter of wanting to ride sometimes and not wanting to sometimes.

For us, it didn't mean the end of the stroller ever but we use it much less. We're in a city so rarely drive--the stroller was our main form of transportation before about 22 months when she suddenly developed lots of opinions lol. So, we stopped using our stroller for our weekday commute (take 2 buses instead...) but she'll use it on the weekends. Sometimes she wants to walk/"help push" the stroller and we let her for short distances, though usually she wants me to carry her, which can't happen if we're going really far (esp since I'm pregnant!). Snack bribes or sometimes giving her my phone helps when we need her in the stroller for longer periods.
ETA she's almost 2.5 now, so maybe the phase just isn't over yet. I bet when lo2 is born she'll suddenly want the stroller again since she won't have it as an option, lol

When this happened with my son I started planning long walks around snack time, and he eats snacks in the stroller. Usually this is enough to keep him calm! But getting out was never an option...I think once he learned that even if he screamed and yelled it didn't change the fact that we were going for a walk, he quit. It was a really short phase for us.

Thanks all! We haven't been giving him snacks in the stroller but I think it's the way to go if we want to go for a long walk and get home before it gets dark lol.
