When did you get it? Did it coincide with weaning, feeding solids or STTN? Did you have any signs it was on its way?
LO is 9 1/2 months and I'm still breastfeeding in addition to finger foods. He wakes up 1x/night to nurse. Lately I've been having weird symptoms (cramps, emotions, sweat smells different!) and am going a little bananas. AF is on its way, right? (No I haven't taken a FRER

sounds like you should definitely test again in a week if AF doesn't arrive!
I got it back the first time around 7m pp after she started solids. she was not nursing between bedtime and wake-up.
Second time around I got it back more like 12m pp (maybe later?) when I was almost done nursing. he nursed at night for a long time and I'm guessing that made the difference.

With my older one it finally came back when she dropped down to nursing just once a day- almost exactly two weeks later. This was when she was about 19 months. But for months before I kept feeling like it was about to come back- all those symptoms you described for a few days, then it would stop, few weeks later symptoms would start again. Super annoying!
It's been different after second baby because I got an iud. Now it's like once a month I get weird spotting for a day or two and that's it. But I'm also still breastfeeding.

Mine came back at 10 months postpartum, after weeks of weird symptoms, and several negative pregnancy tests. My daughter was eating 3 meals a day with us at that point, but also still nursing 6-8 times a day, including middle of the night wakings.

@YogiRunner: Mine didn't come back until about 18 months PP. I felt very lucky! I'm still breastfeeding now (at 25 months) but I think she had cut way down on nursing sessions. I'm assuming that's why it came back.
ETA - I did start having PMS symptoms a couple months before AF finally came back.

With DS1, it came back at 11 months pp. He was nursing 3-4 times a day and sometimes once overnight. With DS2, it came back at 10 months pp and he was nursing 4-5 times a day/twice overnight.
I don't remember any PMS symptoms with either, though!

Mine came back about 12mo pp when we were down to nursing mostly at night. I didn't have too many pms symptoms but I think I was a tad more emotional and I knew it was coming thanks to a change in libido and cervical mucus.

Came back at 6 months when I was still basically exclusively breastfeeding and she would try a speck of some kind of food once a day. I had a week or two of cramping beforehand so I was happy when it ended up that was the cause.
ETA- I guess sort of coincided with sttn. She was sttn since 3 months, but woke up for 1 feed around 4/5:30 am until I weaned after a year.

Mine came back when DD was 9 months old. She was still nursing through out the night but had been on solids since she was 6 months old.

After my first AF came back at just about 4 months pp. I clearly ovulated and two weeks later there it was. It was regular after that. This time LO2 is almost 5 months and I think my body is taking its time....
It was both hard and such a relief to get my period.

With my first it came back at 13 months. We had really cut down on nursing sessions and I stopped pumping unless I was going to be gone a really long time. I had zero symptoms leading up to it!
Still going strong after baby #2. He's 8 months and I hope it stays gone as long as possible

Thanks, ladies. Interesting to hear some people had symptoms for awhile and that breastfeeding plays a role. We had unexplained IF and ended up getting pregnant with our LO after our first round of IVF. That plus the fact that I'm officially AMA makes us anxious to get the show on the road... so I'm actually excited to get my period! And all the angst of TTC comes flooding back as I sit here all crampy and analyzing everything!

Mine came back about 8 months PP after I started weaning myself from the pump. It was a pretty horrible period and there was no mistaking what was going on.

Mine came back when DD1 was 6 months old, still nursing at night, and nursing/pumping during the day. Just FYI, it was awful, painful, and like a murder happened in my pants. I had to wear a super plus tampon and a giant thunderpad to contain it.

Mine came back at 4 months pp while EBF. Given that my PP bleeding didn't stop until around 8 weeks, I had a very short reprieve. Just lucky I guess.

I didn't get mine back till I weaned completely at 16 months, both times. When I was nursing DD, I would get all sorts of weird symptoms starting at 7 months, but they all came to nothing. One time I was sure I was pregnant, all the symptoms were there, but it took me a long time to psych myself up to test and I got a BFN. Still no idea what that was about...
I think most women aren't quite *that* sensitive to nursing hormones though, and you might not need to wait for weaning.

I got it soon after weaning when LO was 4 or 5 months old. It was the same as before- couple medium/ heavy days followed by a few light days.

My situation is a little different as I am not BFing. I EPed for 6 weeks and got a light period maybe 3 weeks after that, then again around 7 weeks later. I thought maybe I was about to get regular again but then only 3 weeks after the last "period" I started bleeding again and it is pretty heavy. I had no warning symptoms any of the times, just regular cramps once it started. I hope I become regular again soon! Pre-baby, I was every 29 days like clockwork.
