I didn't actually stay there but I was right in between them. The Beloved, and the new Finest are both family friendly and all inclusive (FYI we stayed at Excellence Playa Mujeres). Loved that stretch b/c it's private, less crowds, etc. I'd absolutely go back there with LO.
The only con is that it's a long-ish car ride from the airport since it's away from the main strip. But that's seriously the only con!

Be really careful to read independent reviews about the food. I went to one in Cancun for a wedding last year (so I did not choose the spot). The food was awful. I would have gladly paid double to have better food. The buffet, individual restaurants, snack bar, everything. I did like Dreams Tulum, I was there for a different wedding a few years ago and the food was much better.
I've traveled in Mexico quite a bit. You could do something small and contained like La Isla Mujares or Cozumel that is causal and easy to eat a lot of differences. Playa Del Carmen is great too.

@sapphire: Sorry I didn't respond in your other thread! I got the notification, but forgot to respond!
We stayed at the Park Royal in Cozumel. It was really affordable, but the food was mediocre. It wasn't awful, but I've definitely had better. The grounds, though, were stunning. The polls were fabulous and the beach was small and the rock formations made it really shallow, so it was PERFECT with a young toddler. You can also snorkel right from the beach, and it's good snorkeling-lots of fish! We had a car for the week and drove around to different beaches too, and there are some really incredible places on the island. I love Cozumel!
(first pic is the resort beach, second is just another pretty spot on the island)

Wasn't all inclusive, but we enjoyed the Westin Lagunamar in Cancun, particularly bc they were condos. We could put LO to bed in the bedroom and hang out in the living room. Gorgeous pools. Normal pretty Cancun beach. Fair food

We stayed at Barcelo in Riviera Maya. Loved it! So beautiful and I love how convenient all inclusives are!

I have discovered that the small boutique all inclusive - where they have taken old condos and turned them into hotels - work very well for small kids. We did NYX Cancun, and had a 2 bedroom apartment, which was perfect because it was nice to put baby to bed and be able to hang out and watch TV!
Pros: The food is amazing. There is one restaurant and limited options, but it isn't bland and there was enough variety for our short stay. The staff loved our LO and would entertain him and bring him special food at meals. They have a baby pool my LO could stand up and run around in, and the beach area was amazing.
Cons: LOTS of stairs and limited elevators. We didn't do a stroller so it wasn't a problem. No room service, which kind of sucked, but the room had a fridge so we took food to go from the restaurant.

@youboots: thanks for the thoughts. I think we're going to go for the Baja coast so either Cabo/PV/Mazatlan because of the shorter flight from Seattle. I know not as beautiful as the Carribean Coast. Have you been to any of those places?

We stayed at the St.Regis in PV with our kids (DH won a trip at work), it was not very kid friendly-stairs everywhere, not a very nice playroom and it only included breakfast. I know this probably wasn't very helpful but I do not recommend St.Regis, ha. Good luck!

@sapphire: I have boon to all 3. I would do Cabo. It's flat and really walkable and very American friendly. PV is where we went on our honeymoon it more authentic, there are more hills and it's more spread out. I only went to Mazatlan on a cruise. We plan to take T to Cabo when she a little older for the same reason- easy flight from the west coast.

Question for everyone, what do you do about the carseat / lack of seatbelts in the cars? My husband and I love mexico and would love to go back with our daughter. But of all the times I have been there I think we only have riden in one or two cars with seatbelts. I would be terrified of getting in a car accident with my daughter and not having seat belts in the car.
