...Do people normally do that? My husband told his mom, so I basically had to tell mine, but it seems weird to me. I'm not sure whether my mom was weirded out, disinterested in the topic, or pre-occupied, but she wasn't enthused either. Just the "Um... OK?" that I expected. I did tell REALLY close sister-like friends.

We have not told our family because we did not want to added pressure of them asking about if we were pregnant yet if it was taking a long time. I'm glad we decided since we are starting cycle 7 and have not yet conceived. I did tell my best friend because she is ttc as well. It's nice to have someone to talk to who is going through the same thing I am.

We decided to tell my mom & sister, and not to tell anyone else.
This was b/c DH and I both knew that they would be supportive without being overbearing ("when's baby coming?")
We refrained from telling MIL b/c she would've been very negative about us not being married long, etc.... which she kind of was when we told her we were pregnant. And didn't tell DH's dad's side b/c they'd tell others. lol

I didn't tell my parents.
I did tell my brother because he's been asking me 'So when are you going to pop one out?' for a couple months now and he just called me this weekend to tell me that he and his FI are expecting their second child next June. I was planning on waiting till we get pregnant to tell everyone but I think with the news he just told me, I was excited and told him that we might be a couple months behind them.
Of course, I was so excited that I forgot to mention to him to keep this info between just me and him. Well, I didn't and I found out my sister found out later that day. She called me the next day. I'm not sure if my brother told my other sister. She hasn't called me yet, so hopefully, he just told my younger sister and not my older sister. It might be harder to contain if my older sister found out we were TTC.

I've been struggling with TTC after a miscarriage. My dad is a physician so we've shared our struggles to get his thoughts on treatment, etc.

We told our parents, and my sisters (mostly because they were asking all of the time). I am glad we did, because it took 13 months to conceive, and our parents did a good job deflecting other family members questions about it, and made everyone aware that they were not to discuss it with us under any circumstances.

We didn't tell anyone so everyone was pretty shocked when we announced. We didn't want any questions or pressure so I am glad we didn't tell. Not planning on telling anyone if we try for #2 either.

We told our parents and the rest of the family just kind of figured it out. We told the parents mainly because I was having some issues last winter/spring that depending on the turnout, I may not have been able to have children so we wanted them to be prepared. Of course once we found out that everything was ok, the first question was if we were TTC. Luckily, they've all been great and there hasn't been much pressure at all.

We didn't tell anyone. I didn't want the pressure and constant questions of "are you pregant?"
I have a friend who recently told me that she was TTC soon... and now I'm constantly wondering. I know she won't tell me she's preggo until her 12 weeks is up, so I'm going to be watching what she's eating, if she's drinking, etc. I didn't want people doing that to me.

We didn't tell. We knew that we were going to have a hard time getting pregnant, and didn't want them wondering and asking every month, especially when it was negatives. We also didn't tell because my mom is worrier, and I am sure she would start in on finances and stuff
We didn't want their opinions on whether or not we should have a baby.

I voted told parents, but we (actually HE) told only his. I wanted to tell no one, since I was worried we'd have a long battle ahead of us. i've made it clear that in a few years when we try for number two, that I don't want anyone knowing our business.

We didn't tell just because we were both older and didn't know how long it would take to get pregnant. We just thought it would be less stressful and less pressure if we kept it to ourselves.

Our families are already ask too much about if I'm pregnant yet, so we decided not to tell them we are actually TTC. We don't need even more pressure that they already put on us. Plus, I like the idea of it being a big surprise to everyone

We didn't tell our parents, like others, didn't want the added pressure. I did talk about it with a few friends who were going through or had gone through the same thing (we tried for 18 mos) and DH told one friend who had tried for a while.

We didn't tell anyone until we were pregnant. We didn't want to have to deal with questions if things took a long time or didn't go well.

We didn't tell any family until we had been unsuccessful for about a year. But once we started getting treatment, we wanted family support. If we had to do it all over again, I think I'd still approach it the same way.

My mum knows, but that's it. She knew anyway, since she's always been aware of my medical history - so yeah, it wasn't a big surprise. I told her mainly so she could keep relatives at bay and not harass us about TTC stuff, because I don't think I could handle that during this IF period.

My dad points out that this way if I need support, it's easier if they already know. My mom's glad because this way she can deflect attention off my sister-in-law (my grandma keeps pestering her to have another baby, since they see each other fairly often - SIL doesn't want more. I live halfway across the country, so she never pesters me about it.) Also, I can be excited about babies when talking to them.

My husband told his mom that we were going to start trying next year, and when she asked me about it, I lied to her and told her we'd MAYBE try next year, haha. She already bugs me enough about having grandkids, I really don't want her up in my business all the time being like "Are you pregnant yet???"
I'm not telling my family. I'd rather just surprise them with the news once we're actually pregnant.
I did tell a few of my best girl friends though.

We told our parents, but we felt comfortable doing so because we are close to both sets and neither of them have really given us any pressure. They're really supportive and I'll take all of the moral support I can get through our TTC journey. I've also told a couple of my best friends about our plan to start in the new year.

My mom works in the reproductive health arena so, for me, telling her was a no-brainer since she willb e supportive and have good tips/advice. We told our cose friends and other family as well becuase we're excited and have no reason to think it will be a struggle. I'm hoping we don't regret the decison if it takes a while though:)

We have not told our parents. However, my older sister started TTC this summer and told my parents and our younger siblings. She did not tell me because apparently I have a big mouth? Ha, the joke's on her because I've managed to keep my own TTC secret for almost a year now.
My really close friends sort of know we're TTC but we haven't talked about it in depth. Strangely, the only people who know we are really really trying are three girls that I work with. That's mostly just because one is trying, one is going to start trying soon and the other is already a mom. So I guess we're all sort of at that same point together.

we aren't telling anyone - with the exception of my telling my best friend, and I know she'll keep it mum. we don't want to listen to unwanted criticisms or advice - re: buying a house, having a million in the bank, etc etc.

My Mom has been pretty pushy about it so I just told her and everyone else who asks, "when are you having kids!??!" that we're not sure we are yet. That usually shuts them up for a while. Or a few minutes, in my Mom's case.

We only told people after we were pregnant, the first person we told was my mom at 11 weeks. I think telling people that your TTC just adds pressure because they will keep asking about it and that will make you feel worse if you arent getting pregnant right away

I've told my parents and some of our friends. Telling our friends was a dumb idea since they seem to expect to you just be pregnant right now. Other friends know the struggle to conceive and are more understanding about it.
I told my mom since she's the one who I can really cry about it with. She understands what I'm going through, so it's easier that way. We haven't told my inlaws because my MIL's super nosy. She'll find out when everyone else does with a future pregnancy.

We haven't told anyone we're TTC outside of a couple of my good friends. Our reasoning is that we didn't want to get anyone's hopes up or face the "So are you knocked up yet?" questions. Once we do get pregnant, we'll definitely tell our family before the rest of the world, but not until we know there's something for them to be excited about since most likely it would be the first grandbaby for both sides.

We have told many people because we knew it would probably take us a long time. Our friends and family who know that we are TTC know not to pressure us because they know that I have PCOS/fertility issues. I share what I feel like sharing during any given cycle. Sometimes they ask, sometimes, they don't.

We are stating in April and plan on not telling anyone that we are. My girlfriends (pretty much all have a baby(ies) or are pregnant) are trying to get it out of me. But I am trying to hold strong and not tell them. A couple girlfriends have had issues and I always felt bad when others when ask them are you pregnant yet? Trying to avoid it if I can. I have a feeling that it isn't going to be easy for us.

We will not be telling anyone when we one day decide to TTC. I think it would make it weird and a topic of conversation- like all. the. time. Which would really stress me out. Even if it didn't come up, I would probably worry that it would because everyone would "know". Luckily we haven't had pressure from either side, so that that makes it a little easier too

We didn't tell anyone we were trying. We just got married and when people asked, we would say like five years down the road. We didn't want to feel any pressure. But now that I've had a miscarriage, it's pretty obvious that we're trying.

I told my parents, because honestly they are my best friends and I tell them pretty much everything. We haven't told my husband's parents. I left that decision up to him.

Our parents and siblings know. We didn't tell them at first but we told all of them when we MC the first time because we really needed their support. Since that happened they know that we're trying now but our parents know about the 2nd MC too so they do a good job at deflecting relatives.

We didn't tell anyone at all for the first six months or so, but now that its taking so long, we needed to tell a few people for support. I haven't told my dad or stepdad because I think they think we're too young, but my mom and sister know, as does DH's mom.

I told my mom since she's been facing cancer and needed some encouragement for the future. My stepmom knows too since she had 6 MCs (before adopting her kids) and was an avid charter - she's helping me figure out mine!

Don't plan too, but we will tell them as soon as we get preggers because they have to plan their furloughs long in advance. If we don't give them enough notice, they won't be able to be in the country when we have the baby.
