One of our top girls names is Violet. Our last name begins with the letter P. If she ends up being Violet P. in school, does that make you think of purple-coloured urine? My husband doesn't think it's an issue, and I don't want to make it an issue... P is such a hard letter.

Do kids in elementary school use the word "violet"? I mean back then I knew what it meant but nobody used it over purple. I voted that it's a non-issue. I love that name.

@Willow: I remember being told when naming one of my daughters that if kids want to make fun of someone/something, they will. Even if it is dumb or doesn't make sense to adults. They'll figure something out. The point was that no name is bulletproof, so aside from something along the lines of Ivana Humpalot...you're good.
I worried a lot about initials when I named my kids - now I don't think about that at all!
