Baby #2 is two weeks old now and his pediatrician mentioned how his tongue seemed a bit short when he cries etc. She said he might be tongue tied but said if he can stick his tongue out beyond his gum he should be fine. He definitely can stretch his tongue beyond his but doesn't always do it. When i put my finger in his mouth and let his suck on it i definitely feel that his tongue doesnt come all the way to cover his gum
I assumed that the painful latching and sometimes pain during nursing was just because he is still figuring it out but now i'm wondering if it's his tongue making it worse. Have any of you dealt with this. My nipples are so sore. With LO #1 i was sore for a few weeks and then it was so much better.

I forgot to add that he nurses for long periods usually in the range of 35 to 45 mins. LO #1 was the same but she got more efficient as she got older
