LO is 21 months old. we have had our share of sleep issues since infancy, from fighting sleep to early wakeups. then we hit a decent patch.

and then we hit a rough patch. starting about a month ago, LO would wake up within a few hours of putting him to bed. we had to go in several times to soothe, and would eventually CIO. not great, but not horrible.

then we went on a trip to seoul. after coming back, sleep has been sucky. not so much the jet lag, but really fighting sleep when he is clearly tired and screaming hysterically. plus he learned to get out of the crib. he did it twice in 20 minutes, falling with a thunk on the floor, so we switched the crib to a toddler bed last night for safety reasons.

he wouldn't sleep in it. he screamed bloody murder when we tried CIO (and we are not wimps about CIO) so that my husband had to go in there and sleep on the floor with him (not the bed, the floor). i'm worried about setting up a pattern of LO only sleeping with us in the room, but on the other hand his cries/screams really broke my heart and i felt it was more important to comfort him. trying to soothe and leave was not working.

i don't know what i'm asking. could people share their stories, tips and tricks for switching to a toddler bed or just getting through really rough patches? maybe an internet hug?
