That wouldn't bother me at all! I usually use names I love for my video game and D&D characters, so that definitely would NOT rule them out as a baby name! DH is the same. Tell him he's crazy; the nerd connection just makes it better!

@Mrs Hedgehog: I love Asher. One of my girlfriends just named her son that, super cute. It's also a females name in GofT, so I can see it as a unisex name.

I would just keep mentioning it and hope he changes his mind... I'm doing that with one of my girl names right now lol... although at first DH hates our top pick girl name and now he likes it so sometimes it just takes time.

After a while if he really doesn't budge I would come up with some different names.

I found it that it isn't really easy to convince the other of a name if they don't want to use it. I know if my husband loved a name but I had a bad association with it there wouldn't be anything he could say or do to change my mind. It took us awhile but eventually there was one we both loved.

This is kind of manipulative, but I would probably suggest some names I know DH wouldn't like to try to sway him toward Asher. Does have the potential to backfire though

The only people who would be critical of that are people who play the game.. and assuming your dh won't be playing forever, it's only going to be a temporary association for him, right?

@Mrs Hedgehog: It's not so much that he won't play forever, as that he won't play that campaign forever. 10 years from now he *probably* won't be playing with the same characters, especially if the one in question is an NPC.
