C was born less than a week before Easter and I came home from the hospital at 9pm the night before.... We still went to my neighbors house as planned.

My LO was born on 20th December, and we left hospital on the 21st. We travelled about 1.5 hours by car on Christmas Eve to my parents house, and spent the next 4 days there. The journey itself was fine, he was young enough that he slept all the way (although he would go on to become a car seat hater!). Christmas day itself was incredibly overwhelming, LO was a tongue tied, colicky baby and cried ALL the time. However for me as a FTM it was kinda nice to have my mum around during this time, and she took LO for a few hours at 4am on Boxing Day just so DH and I could get some sleep.
Next time I am intending not to have a Christmas baby, and I look forward to a more relaxing pp recovery and bonding time with baby. But if I had to make the choice again I'm not sure I'd do it any differently - I adore Christmas and would have been sad to miss out. Definitely make the decision based on what you want and not to keep others happy!

As much as I didn't want to, we drove our 2 week old to the ILs 3.5 hours away for Christmas. It turned out to not be that bad, but definitely took more than 4 hours to get there!

@Adira: J was 8 days old at Christmas, anyone who wanted to visit was welcome but we made it clear we were going anywhere. I had just been released from the hospital 3 days prior.
My parents came, my brother and my great aunt. I was nursing every hour just about, so I'd go upstairs. Sometimes my mom kept me company. It was nice, very low key that year.

@rachiecakes: I suspect that's how it will be for us this year! I just hope someone will come and bring me some food.
